Admittedly, Jim Sterling isn't a shining gem, but Destructoid is still infinitely better than IGN. And if you think "people shouldn't review games they don't like" then I won't bother talking to you because that is idiotic beyond belief.

Bastion is pretty popular as far as Indie games go. It's like 2011's indie darling.
So can I ask if IntKeys is 100% legit, because I'm going to preorder from them. And they said they will email you your CD key fast enough to where I really want to buy from them.
I think so but I haven't used it myself. I've used Ultimatum though and they're definitely legit and if any problems come up they don't mind giving a refund.

sure but it's still indie
he said "a game that isn't incredibly popular"
bastion isn't incredibly popular

You shouldn't review games you have a bias towards. Like how a FPer shouldn't review a CoD game because they'll instantly rate it 0.
How long does it usually take Greenman to send verification emails and whatever? I'm trying to change my email address, and it's been nearly an hour.

destructoid rated bastion 6 fyi
Brink didn't already have a fanbase though. The CoD kids on IGN however which is the majority of their audience expects the latest CoD or whatever to be rated high so IGN appeals to them because it's more about business than good journalism.

Go to the CoD thread and say that, a lot of dedicated fanboys over there.

There is a larger amount of people who would instantly rate it 0 than instantly rate it 10, and a even smaller amount that would rate it with little bias.
Looking forward to this. Counting down the days. Have two people to do co-op with me as well.
Just hope the game isn't to tight with guns and ammo. But nice to see a more "realistic" take on zombie survival.
I'm staying up for steam decryption as well.

brink had tonnes of preorders and everyone was raving about it even here, i'm pretty sure it was much more popular than bastion and it is a more accessible/mainstream genre
bastion had as much of a fanbase as an indie game that's not a sequel can have and it got a better score, it just contradicts what you said
You shouldn't review games you have a bias towards. Like how a FPer shouldn't review a CoD game because they'll instantly rate it 0.
Yeah, the reason he gave The Witcher 2 was because he didn't like the first. It's definitely not that he just didn't like it.
the witcher 2 is the sequel to the witcher 1, i.e. it has many similarities and jim expected it to be a different game
like how he wanted bastion to be a different game even though it was a good game at what it did

CoD isn't a terrible game nor is it an amazing game. It is a fun game though.
Although the multilayer does suck due to the childish community.
I remember he gave Assassin's Creed 2 a 2/10 because he ran into about 5 game breaking glitches.
For the most part I agree with their reviews so I'm not fussy about them.

Mine still hasn't sent, but if you're doing that for Paypal then you can go ahead and purchase now. It'll display the CD-Key right after you get through the payment process, plus it'll send two emails to your new email address.

He expected it to be improved. In his opinion it didn't. I don't agree, but that is his opinion.

The CoD thread is fucking stupid. A lot of my posts used to be in that thread. When someone mentions that MW3 looks far too similar to MW2 they all flip a bitch.

4.5
destructoid rates games lower overall i'm pretty sure or at least they try to, so 4.5 is just under average, not omg terrible. still harsh though.

he implied that the witcher (1) wasn't that good when the general consensus was that it was amazing and that alone shows bias.
i expect a review to be more about technical stuff and less about opinion/how much fun i personally had.
They just wont admit it, it looks too much like it, doesn't mean it's a bad game, I loved MW2 so i'm obviously gonna love mw2.5
Oh hey, lots of new posts again, I wonder what it's about this time.
Yep, lots of arguing over the legitimacy of internet reviews and who's opinions are right and the credibility of reviewers and how all the professional reviewers are being payed to give good scores and all the other shit that's been said in a hundred other threads prior and never goes anywhere and barely has anything to do with anything.
Stay classy, Facepunch.
Just bought the game on GMG and registerd the cd-key on Steam. I'm currently preloading the game which is cool. The "READY-UPDEA-ISLAN" voucher code worked and gave me a nice discount.
having this game in steam is taunting, its killing me

He implied he didn't like the game. He was playing it for weeks (I used to listen to Podtoid), his bias was he didn't like the first one, expected a better game and in his opinion didn't find one. You're looking for a review in the sense which isn't useful. A critique is what journalism calls reviews.

In a lot of cases.
So what character are you guys going to pick and why?
I am torn between Purna, sam B and Logan.. I don't like to play as a girl but I want these skills purna haves for finding more ammunition for guns... Sam B is black and an asshole but I bet it's really enjoyable to play as him since his skills are all berserker styled. Logan only appeals to me because he looks normal and white but the throwing skills arent my favorite. That asian bitch can get the fuck out, I dont want any tiny legs! when I want tiny legs I go watch spike n barley :v:
Unsure. Person am going to coop with is going for Xian Mei. probably go Purna or Logan.
So you get the key and than you have to wait for the game to be released on steam or do they mail it to you on release date.
They said they are mailing it tomorrow which is release day.
I have a few questions about activating a retail product on steam.
Since I pre-ordered a retail copy of Dead Island I was wondering what it does when I activate the CD Key through Steam. Will it install into my library, can I launch it without a CD and does it pretty much act as if it is a Steam game/was bought through Steam?
Sorry if this sounds dumb but I've never bothered to activate a game through Steam with the game's CD Key.
Of course none of that will matter if it just uses steamworks from the get go.

Usualy it let's you install with the disk all the times, but doesn't require the disk to play.

Yes it will install to your library. Yes you can launch it without a CD. Yes it acts exactly like a Steam game purchased off the store.
Is it just me or do you guys usually talk about anything but the game in this thread? :v:
