My cousin (who works at gamestop) got the game today, and we played the Single Player, and it kicks ass.
I am only a little disappointed (I honestly walked into the game wanting to hate it) and certainly cant say I had no fun with it, because I had a fucking blast with it. I will admit though, it played a lot more like L4D2 at times than I would have liked - for example the AI is borderline retarded sometimes on the zombies. What I mean here is, they sometimes wont attack, and just stand there and look at you like 'Durrr', and unless you are literally about half a foot away they simply stand there forever (and yes this is when they are facing you). Maybe a glitch, as it had only happened to us one time, and if that is the case, hopefully it will be patched within the month.
The gun play is okay, I didnt see much wrong with it, it was stiff at times, but I didnt really have many problems with it personally. The weapon system is fun - it does remind me of Dead Rising 2, but in a good way.
Now here is where I was disappointed, and I expected this too, the story is a piece of shit from what I've seen of it so far. If you want to buy the game for it's story, don't because it doesn't seem to have a very good one.
The voice acting is alright so far, not award winning by any means.
If I were to rate the game right now (keep in mind I only played for about two hours because my cousin has work), I would give the game a 8.5/10 despite the story sucking massive ass so far. I would pick it up, but I do suggest that you keep your expectations low, as you might be disappointed (but I would for any game anyways).
And how well certain websites review games.

However you are only 2 hours in as you say, so it could definitely get better. But a bad first impression on the story certainly isn't good.

Its a pretty much uninteresting, since there is so many places to go, and such, you dont care about the poorly written story - I wasnt hooked by it, and I know that will be a turn off to some, and thats too bad, because those who dont play just for that reason wont know what they're missing.
Meh I'm fine with it having an uninteresting story. A great story, let alone a good one, is hard to come across in games nowadays. However I was and still am looking forward to this game purely for the open world co-op zombie fighting experience.
I never expected this game to have a huge story like Deus Ex or Mass Effect.

I will only play for finding stuff and beeing all survival styled :smile:
I also will play 5 minutes with the hud to understand it and then turn it off and if possible turn it to the hardest difficulty! I can't stand when games are to easy, even when they are just a tiny bit to easy! I need to be rewarded by a good and hard fight with knowledge that I did this and not the to easy difficulty.
i just wanna kill zombies and have funny adventures with my friends, we are bound to do stupid shit. I cant wait.

Did you see the difference in the videos where hud, all numbers and arcadey things are off? No crosshair also and it looks awesome and you also get to see more of the.. wounds or whatever, I really like to feel myself into the game (is that called immersion?) I saw the difference online and I am going to play like that :v:

its the challenge. Not knowing adds to the survival aspect of it.
I just found out that my brother living 500km far away is poor for this month and haves no money to get dead island for the xbox360 to play with me.... I am incredible sad now, I will step into the game and be alone not beeing able to share my happyness with anybody :'(
Is there someone out there who is playing tomorrow on the xbox and is also nice? I would like to play with atleast somebody.
