I'll try these guys on your word, mein proxy. What's the worst that could happen if I use Paypal, anyway.
Just an FYI, since GMG is in London, if you buy it anytime between now and the EU release, you can still get the preorder bonuses.
Somehow my Steam just crashed. But, after I managed to fix the crashing and the sound, I've been playing constantly since 12:30. I really fucking love it. Sure, it's buggy to all hell right now, but I still enjoy it. I've finally managed to make the bat saw weapon pre-order thing and it kicks a lot of ass. The only plunder I have with it is that... Did I veer off the main story line... Or, what? I just feel trapped doing side-quests. Also, the zombie deformation is just absolutely amazing, but the variations of zombies is extremely limiting which makes the game feel a little repetitive visually. I love the gore, but I hate how fast the bodies and blood disappears. Right now I'm giving my computer a break since it was pushing it a lot lately and I might hop back on it here soon. Through and through, I feel like I've gotten the $50 I spent on it.. Totally worth it.
Anyone want to do some co-op? :)
PROS:
-Zombies are well done, and have some pretty cool hit reactions.
-Seems like a good mix of scenery and locations, some spots can look very beautiful while others are scary and dark.
-Open world that encourages scavenging for weapons and hidden secrets.
CONS:
-God, the bugs and performance issues. Hopefully Techland fixes this game up, or else I can't really suggest this game at full price unless you know what you're getting into.
-Combat seems rather simple at this early point of the game, however knowing that there are different enemy types, this could change later.
-So far, I haven't found too many weapons. Again, this could just be because I'm just starting the game, but so far I've made sure to search every building I could and mostly have found knives, paddles, and pipes.
That said, I eagerly look forward to playing more of this tomorrow.

Hello.
Loving it so far, playing as the rapper guy. I've got myself a nice nailed baseball bat too.
This game is unplayable for me atm. There is too much motion blur when turning left or right and the mouse acceleration is fucking me.
Friend of mine thinks they shipped the wrong build of the game, which would explain the bugs and shit performance. The fact that you can noclip and the .pdb debug files are kind of a giveaway.

Go read your crash.log file in Documents\DeadIsland\out\logs. An hour of gameplay generated a 16800+ line file with a comical variety of errors. Everything from missing textures to missing sounds to warnings about bad meshes that may crash the game. Specific warnings that certain behaviors are forbidden. An entire section of missing burn textures that probably resulted when I flung a molotov. Non-existing variables and trying to register textures that already exist. Files that don't exist and passing bad parameters.
Between Dead Island and From Dust, I've now learned my lesson. No more pre-orders.
Damn this game is fun. Just played through about 3 hours. Going to go try out space marine now.
Anyone know if you can disable the "is nearby" messages that keep prompting me to join some other assholes game :P
I'm using the VPN but I seem to be getting to a European steam store. Everything is in euro's and i still cannot play dead island :(
Well I bought dead island off gmg for 23 bucks. I traded in Trine for 10 bucks then used the 15% off code. I may have to wait a few days for a new code to come in. But at that price, I think I can wait a few more days.

Play singleplayer?
Do you think my laptop will run it?
Core 2 Duo Mobile T6600 2.2GHz
4GB RAM
Nvidia G105M (About the same as a 9500 I believe)
So how is it?

Which VPN? It looks like you've connected to a European one, you need to connect to an American server.
So how is it?
Broken.

I did the manual set up, maybe I set it up for the wrong place.
This is almost certainly the developer build they've shipped. PDB files, references to things that only developers would ever need etc.
Play singleplayer?
Nope, doesn't work. Mine's set to SP and regardless it constantly prompts me to join other's games anyway.

Aside from being crashy/buggy, it's really good. I'm impressed with the bone breaking/gore and the variety of weapons. Combat feels really satisfying, it's like Dark Messiah of Might and Magic in a lot of ways.
Ok well i suggest using FlyVPN if you want to use a vpn to play now, its easy and instant.
The game is really fun, I'm not disapointed at all.
Here's some screens everything maxed out.

Yeah, I suck at making good looking screenshots.
Are there conveniently placed spike walls?
Nah, but the premise of "Sir Kicksalot Deathboot" is still around, albeit on a lower scale.
You can also still do stuff like pick up random crates/tanks/whatever and toss em at zombies sometimes.
Ok so I opened the game up and everything, now I have gone back and changed the steam appid and everything, but I cannot play without it saying that its pre-loaded.
Just a little more help please?
