Seems like whoever released the dev build is having a fun day :v:
He better not expect any recommendations. I wonder if he used to work at valve and deleted Half Life 2 Episode 3 and now works at Deep Silver.
I'm okay with this
Update: Deep Silver just sent along word that they are planning to announce a "Make Up" to people who purchased the PC version to apologize for the issues. They also stated the updated build should be live on Steam.
http://www.co-optimus.com/article/6734/dead-island-on-steam-being-replaced-after-wrong-version-released.html

Will I get this 'Make up' too? Are the physical copies as broken as the steam ones?
I'm okay with this http://www.co-optimus.com/article/6734/dead-island-on-steam-being-replaced-after-wrong-version-released.html
"They also stated the updated build should be live on Steam." I don't like the way this sounds. It sounds like they're saying it's currently live on Steam. And the build they've got up right now (1.0.0) is still broken as all hell.
I want a refund, this is bullshit.
I want a refund, this is bullshit.
"The game will never be patched ever! My life will be in ruins if I have to wait!!! Waaaaaaah!!"
I want a refund, this is bullshit.
I'd give them at least a week or two to fix stuff up. (Though yes, it ought to work now and should never have been sold like this.) If it's not working by then, I might look into getting a refund. Since I bought from Greenman, though, I'm not sure how that'd work. [editline]6th September 2011[/editline]
"The game will never be patched ever! My life will be in ruins if I have to wait!!! Waaaaaaah!!"
It's an overreaction, yeah, but not THAT much. There is NO excuse for selling an unfinished product, ever. "We'll fix it eventually" is arbitrary, since we paid for it now, not "eventually."
FIX HAS BEEN RELEASED
First, the correct version of the title is now available on Steam and fans are able to download it now. · Second, the day 1 patch notes in their entirety are below. Please note that the lists circulating around the internet in the past day were not final. Also note that this update may cause incompatibilities between the incorrect version of Dead Island that was released and the fixed version and cause a wipe on saved games. We tried every avenue possible in order to avoid fans having to wipe their saved games and it’s important that fans are made aware of this ASAP. However, we have a solution to help regain some quest progress: When the game opens, select New Game -> Select the same character as you were using before, and then there will be an option for “Chapter Select” which will allow the player to jump to the last chapter they were playing in. · Third, Deep Silver plans to announce a “make up” to fans who were affected by the day 1 PC issues, stay tuned in coming days for those details as internal discussions are ongoing on our end. · Fourth, the Bloodbath DLC is still on schedule as planned – fans who preordered the title will still receive the Bloodbath DLC when it launches (date TBA shortly!) as stated previously. · Fifth, we are aware of The Ripper activation bug which will not load as a result of the version update and this will be fixed in the next game update, coming soon. Again, we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused to fans who wanted to spend their day crushing some zombie skulls. We are right there with you. Dead Island Patch Notes Multiplayer and Matchmaking improvements · Maps are now correctly synchronized when player joins during map loading · Games now filter correctly in lobby · After joining a coop game enemies now spawn correctly User guidance improved. (Quest guidance, UI, shop) Additional Interface polishing · Map tracking now works correctly after loading checkpoints · Health and stamina bars of enemies now display correctly in coop. · Locations of invisible NPCs are no longer shown · More than one player can now use the same ladder simultaneously · Focus on items in shops is not changing after operation (sell, buy) · Additional Interface polishing · Fixed displaying gather rings near some door Player death behavior improved · Respawn position now saved when playing in cooperative mode · If player dies whilst inside vehicle, menu will now be hidden Save game mechanics extended · Added distinction between quest checkpoints and other saves Minor animation fixes · AI animation now displays correctly after fast travel or travel through portals AI improvements · Improved enemy awareness (zombies) · Enemies reaction to fire adapted · Enemies are now able to successfully reach player on some arenas · Shooting enemies no longer spawn infinitely Balancing changes in difficulty · Item level will be calculated correctly when playing in second playthrough · Kick interrupting reload now adapted; after clip is inserted reload is treated as successful · Health regeneration is now disabled during grab. · More HP for all escorted NPCs · Removed all instances of Butcher during escorts · Purna can gain bonus rage from both “Grim Inspiration” and “Inspiring Kick” · Only “Walker” type enemies increase the extra XP of the “Combo” skill from Xian’s Survival skill tree Pause Option added · Added inform
Dunno if this is the full patch, but whatever
it's still pretty inexcusable for the devs to drop the ball this bad on a semi-unrelated note, is there push-to-talk in this game? because i couldn't find it and had to disable my microphone
How do I get my game to update?
The problem with releasing broken games is not only that people get an unfinished product, but that every second it takes them to get the fixed version in the hands of players kills the game's community bit by bit. Take Homefront, for example: solid game, but plagued with launch issues like poor servers, matchmaking, and the bug I and many others encountered - a corrupted association between game and Gamertag (on the 360), meaning that after the game's developer logo intro, players went straight to a black screen and their consoles crashed. It took them on the order of two and half weeks to remedy that last problem alone, and by that time the game was so devoid of players that there was no point taking the fixed product online. Also, I don't know about you guys, but my game is still v1.0.0, and I saw no indication that Steam is/was updating it. I sincerely hope there's just a delay between them submitting the fixes and Steam distributing them.

Hopefully that patch will fix my random freezing for 2-3 seconds every half minute. From the 5 playable minutes I got, it was good though. I am still kinda mad at how they herp'd but whatever what can I do about it?
Hopefully that patch will fix my random freezing for 2-3 seconds every half minute. From the 5 playable minutes I got, it was good though. I am still kinda mad at how they herp'd but whatever what can I do about it?
Ask for a refund? teach gaming companies that they can't keep doing this. this is the 3rd or 4th game i've bought in the last year that has been plague by launch day issues, that took 3 weeks to 2 months to fix. I am sorry, but fuck that. I am tired of paying 50 dollars for a game that is broken, and will remain broken for weeks to come. See, when I buy a game, I am buying the content and the service that it provides. All the yuppies in here saying I should wait, that it will get fixed need to straighten the fuck up. You don't go in a restaurant, order a steak, and 3 hours later when they bring you a fried cat instead of a steak go "oh well they'll get it right eventually, they deserve every dollar I throw at them"
Third, Deep Silver plans to announce a “make up” to fans who were affected by the day 1 PC issues, stay tuned in coming days for those details as internal discussions are ongoing on our end.
Bah, now the US is getting extras!
Wow, they did a good job with the fix. Seems like all the animation transition and freezing problems are gone.
I hope there's no side-effect to playing our dev-saves... I've been playing with the same character, just starting over with all my levels.
the game runs perfectly fine for me, no real problems with it whatsoever, only actual gripe I have is that it makes my eyes water from all the bloom and shit
I hope there's no side-effect to playing our dev-saves... I've been playing with the same character, just starting over with all my levels.
Your saves don't work from what I hear.
Your saves don't work from what I hear.
Yeah, I got almost completely reset when the mid-day patch released. I kept my levels, but I lost my inventory and story/quest progress. I've just worked my way back to where I was, so on the bright side, I'm now kind of overleveled. I'm just hoping that there's no long-term effects aside from the progress reset. [editline]6th September 2011[/editline] Oh by the way, the way that post of the Deep Silver blog was worded, I'm pretty sure the patch they're referencing was the one released earlier today. You know, the one that fixed nothing and actually made certain things worse. Suffice to say I will not be buying any Techland game at launch in the future. :v:

The game crashed because I ate two times the same apple. :downs:
To ask, has anyone had issues with keymapping and how I managed to make F be mapped to 'Use' and 'Flashlight', while I set E for 'Use' ? Like I can use E, but in order to swap weapons out on the ground, I need to use F.
I love the 'press Y for noclip' feature. Island looks beautiful.
The only problems I've experienced so far with the game are: -Falling through the game world -Progress lost -Game crashed once -DLC made unavailable The gameplay itself seems to be without bugs for me but I have my fingers crossed for the future
try to loot something a player opened, you won't be able to it has a 5 second protection time. also i noticed it said checkpoints instead of saves like before, so that release earlier today was it... check the patch notes they released it matches what we currently have. SO that 76 mb update we had EARLIER TODAY was it. GG.

I don't under stand the game lobby. If someone is white, what does that mean? If someone is grey, what does that mean?
Jesus, its crashing and freezing. This patch seemed to make it WORSE
