How are my fellow europeans playing the game early? I must know!
Probably a VPN.
Probably a VPN.
Hmmm, I would very much appreciate knowing how to do this as I am yet to buy the game... [editline]7th September 2011[/editline] Oh wait don't worry, found Defic's post: 1. shut down Steam 2. Get yourself US vpn. 2.A I will be using http://www.freeusvpn.com/ because it is free, but I am not sure if its fully reliable. I have tried it few times with nothing to worry about, but I am not responsible of the problems you might encourage. 2.B Here is another free one which my friend has used a lot but I don't have personal history with it http://usaip.eu/en/free_vpn.php . Download: http://usaip.eu/en/USAIP.pbk and run it, select "USAIP PPTP California". Account/password: demo 3. you should now be connected to internet via that VPN. Your firewall might ask you about the network. Select whatever you find most suitable. 4. Start steam and Launch Dead Island. Let it install all the necessary files etc. 5. Close the game and close Steam 6. Turn off the VPN connection. 7. Go to the "Steam\steamapps\common\Dead Island" -folder 8. Create a text file in the Dead Island directory called "steam_appid.txt" and put 91319 inside it. Save the file. 9. Start steam and laucnh your game from Dead Island directory So this won't work yet but it will when they release the game in the US. So this tutorial is suitable for non-US players who want to play the game earlier. I will be trying this in 15 hours when DI is released. I will post it here if I got it working.
I'm playing on the newest update on PC, on singleplayer. All the old problems have been fixed for me, with the only current one is my preorder DLC doesn't work, and I've been enjoying the game. Just hit level 11. Played for 4 hours straight. Haven't tried multiplayer again since the update, but will when I'm done with my first playthrough.
I hope MP is working in the next 12 hours. I was planning to stay up 16 hours with some friends tonight but it was broken apparently.
I don't quite understand the multiplayer thing, it's hard to keep beeing on the same quests with your friend when someone is playing alone for an hour or something among that. There is always those questions on the end "Do you want to carry over your progress here into your singleplayer story?" and I don't want that because I might have skipped a few missions because my friend already made them.. Can somebody tell me how to make a constant lvl0-50 coop work? I don't want to have a friend with me helping with an hard mission and then when I leave to just go back to my singleplayer save because I might drop a few quests otherwise... Does it only make this one quest I made together with him "completed" when I take that progress to my singleplayer or does it just skip the whole quests before that completed quest when my friend already did them? I really wish to know, I buy this game tomorrow for my brothers birthday  on the xbox360.
I played it for 7 hours yesterday and I can tell you one thing, "You'll be glad to have gotten it for the box" I was skeptical at first but it turned out to work really really well, there is no game breaking glitches or anything, I encountered minimalistic bugs after hours of gameplay.. like 2-3. In short, this game is really damn enjoyable on the xbox, it works nice and incredibly quick on the load times (install the disc on your hard drive, makes it so much faster) to join someone in coop it literally takes 2-4 seconds (which amazed me) and the controls are satisfying fluid. I love this game so much that I only had 4 hours of sleep till my 8 hour work. Also later on this game gets incredibly fast harder, at the first 4 hours I did not really have that "big challenge" but suddenly when all zombie types mix up you need to lay down tactics and keep your expensive to repair weapons in the pocket for weak zombies.
Thanks for the reply.
GiantBomb Quick Look for those of you who like 'em http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-dead-island/17-4837/
If i was to delete my local content, i would now download the finished version amirite? Or do i just need to let it update?
Quoting for an answer.
Quoting for an answer.
If you have an update waiting then just update it. If you lose your save though I heard you can just start a new game with whatever character you picked last time and hit "chapter select" to make up some lost ground.
Let this thread be the first to say GMG got new keys, I really want to play this game fff
Thinking of buying this, is there any websites that show the different talent trees? Or do they all have the same one? Probably either going throwing or sharp weapons. [editline]7th September 2011[/editline] Also in the giantbomb thing they said pc doesn't have analog, is that fixed in the release version?
so i threw a gas can at a thug zombie, it blew up and his limbs killed me POW right in the kisser
FUCK this game is so scary at first, I don't wanna [sp]leave the elevator!!![/sp] :ohdear:
I don't seem to be getting any performance issues so far, I'm almost always above 100fps on full settings at 1920x1080, and no stuttering yet.
I am digging the game. However, as i said on Giantbomb its Co-op while fun is full of bugs and is broken. A friend and I had to go back to dashboard and reload the game just to join each other. We were on the exact same chapter, at the exact same quest, standing right next too each other. Still no "Player is nearby join?" pop up until restart. The game lobby is basicaly useless for me. It tells you there's a shitload of people playing on your chapter. Then when you click "Quick match" suddenly "There are no players with similiar progress available" the fuck? Other than that the game is great, co-op is fun. This bugged out joke of dropping in & dropping out just needs to be fixed. I don't see why players have to have similiar progress in the first place. You should be able to jump in and out of anyone's game as long as they are on public.
Throwing gas tanks at normal walking zombies is hilarious! Throw at legs, see zombie faceplanting into the ground or do a flip.
I don't seem to be getting any performance issues so far, I'm almost always above 100fps on full settings at 1920x1080, and no stuttering yet.
Same here, this game runs very smoothly compared to most games for me.
Getting a black screen on startup but can hear the audio, what gives? Anybody able to help me out?
I think I'm starting to get performance issues. I remember getting 60-80 or sometimes even 100FPS but now I fluctuate between 50-60
So is this game more arcadey or more survivali-ish (tough)
My guess is the more players you play with the more arcadey, singleplayer sounds like a harder experience.
So is this game more arcadey or more survivali-ish (tough)
It's definitely not arcadey but it isn't full survival. [editline]7th September 2011[/editline]
My guess is the more players you play with the more arcadey, singleplayer sounds like a harder experience.
Enemies are much tougher in co-op. Although with one or two enemies you can easily just knock them over and kick them to death.
When I saw that Deep Silver had a part in this I took it with a grain of salt. I expected it to be much like Clear Sky, where there would be some bugs but overall a pretty fun game. And it is. Hopefully patches will smooth all of the troubles out.
I honestly haven't found too many bugs besides coop spazzing out and freezing me and my friend last night. I do feel sorry however for the people struggling to play. I'm expecting Deep Silver to post some kind of news today. I doubt they'll leave the entire coop function broken.
Anybody any help with black screen issues?
run in windowed mode.
run in windowed mode.
How?
Enemies are much tougher in co-op. Although with one or two enemies you can easily just knock them over and kick them to death.
For a while my friend and I used hand to hand/stomped Zombies and used weapons only for crowds. That or killing them all with two trucks. We always had two trucks with us on quest. A crowd comes or a bunch of super Zombies, we play carmageddon with them. Game is really fun when you can actualy join a game.
Anybody any help with black screen issues?
Do you have dual or triple displays? I heard that you have to disable those & play on single.
