Why isn't the online working? I can't see any games or join any of my friend's or anything.
i love this game soo much
That felt like some pretty forced and predictable humor
the only time i get startled is when a zombie on the floor gets me, its not that scary.
I think Dead Island might be my new favorite zombie game. It's hard to explain why I find this game as good as I do. Nothing in my mind really screams that one particular feature is really outstanding, but I guess when everything comes together it just adds up to one of the best games I've played this year. I'm sure it's been compared before, but it really does feel like Borderlands, Dead Rising, and Fallout 3 came together and had a disgusting child fir everyone to gawk at and love. The RPG elements and the questing system helps it deviate from Left 4 Dead and is more refined then Dead Rising which helps Dead Island stand out from it's competitors and offer something new. The focus on melee weapons makes combat more involved then simply shooting zombies from a distance, and while most fights are taken care of with a few clicks of the mouse, things can get hectic when there are 5 or more zombies coming at you and you have to kick and dodge zombies. The environment are hit and miss, sometimes the scenery can be dull, but you'll find pockets of areas that are really beautiful: which is a great contrast when you get a mission that throws you into the dark. Then as soon as you get comfortable with the resort area, you're moved off to a different section of the island with it's own art pallet and design. So far I've encountered five different types of zombies, and each one has certain tactics to bring them down. While combat in the early stages of the game can be a bit repetitive, later the game will start sending different types at you at once and forces you to think on your feat and exploit weaknesses. Depending on the weapon you use this game can be extremely gory, particularly when using the Molotov which will render zombies into walking skeletons. I really could go on and gush about this game for a few more paragraphs, but Dead Island has surpassed my expectations and then some. But it seems like the reception is so mixed, it's really one of those games you'll have to try for yourself. Personally, it's the best game I've played all year easily, and it's a shame that it didn't have the extra polish to prevent the issues some percentage of purchasers are experiencing.
Does anyone else use their fists more often than any weapon? I'm playing as Purna, and I can break zombie bones with 1-2 punches. With the XP multiplier skill, that's a lot of XP per zombie. Plus, you can knock down with a kick and then quickly break both arms with fast punches for a very, very fast kill.
I hate the no manual save thing. Finish taking like 2 hours trying to turn off this electrical swamp thing outside a gas station, finally get everything, return, leave, play again, AT THE START OF THE FUCKING MISSION AGAIN.
Is there any way to switch weapons without going through the inventory? I have this annoying bug where it auto-selects my revolver whenever I put down an item, and seeing as I'd like to conserve the ludicrously rare ammunition, it's really annoying having to equip, unequip, then re-equip something else just to put the damn thing away.
Oh, and I asked before but nobody answered, does the base weapon count when creating custom weapons, or is it a waste to use a high tier bat when a shitty bat would do the same thing? [editline]8th September 2011[/editline] The damn thing isn't even equipped, yet thanks to this bug, it appears as the only thing equipped. To fix this, I literally have unequip and re-equip everything. And this happens every time I pick up a large item now.
Purna. Oh holy fuck, Purna. She is the best character and I've never even set foot in co-op. Let's begin with her Fury skill. It consists of pulling out a FUCKING REVOLVER and blasting every zombie on the screen. Great for dealing with infected since there's lock-on. Her Fury also causes the entire party to do extra damage and FUCKING HEAL. That's right, everybody heals a good chunk of their health while Purna is blasting away. Her Combat tree is also solid. A good damage-boosting skill, but nothing really unique other than a skill that reduces stamina cost when fighting groups and a boost to firearms skill further down the line. Survival. Holy. Fuck. It begins with a skill that causes the damage/force/speed skills of anyone within 5 meters (yes, including Purna) to be boosted 15 percent. So if you've taken the damage-boost skill you're already being buffed. The lockpick and inventory-boost skills are available right away in the first tier. The second tier has a skill that increases XP earned. The first rank increases XP gains fifty percent. It goes up to 150% at rank 3. Keep putting points into survival and you get a skill that gives you a chance to revive anytime you're killed (max 30 percent) and a skill that increases your chance to find rare loot. Fuck your increased blunt/blade/throwing damage, I'll be here leveling at 2.5X the rate anyone else is and finding ammo everywhere. Purna is the best character.
Oh, and I asked before but nobody answered, does the base weapon count when creating custom weapons, or is it a waste to use a high tier bat when a shitty bat would do the same thing?
Yes. All weapon stats factor in when you modify a weapon.
Alright, gang. We got a mystery on our hands. Seems that hidden throughout the world, there's these colored skulls that do something. A quick googling suggests they unlock mod items, but I've yet to get one myself. So far I've found two skulls, a purple skull and a brown skull, and a possible place to put a red skull. Where I found the purple skull, in the sewers before city hall, up a ladder above a Floater and three barrels of the toxic waste: [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/576681779223531898/9A1C5E7A022E0F5F491A7DEAC0CBEE75AD32E58E/[/t] Where I found the red skull pile, just past city hall, above the sewers where the water is toxic: [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/576681779223533153/DFFD6684BEAD1488DDCE57F7A91F808026C5B257/[/t] Didn't think to take a picture of the brown, but if you head towards the bunker past the crashed helicopter on the beach, there's an area portal that takes you to another bunker. Just head through that bunker and you'll find a room with a Suicider. It's in that room. Anyone here found some other skulls and/or figured out some more spots to put them?
Goes up to 150% = 2.5X the standard rate help how do i math
Feel like playing co-op from the start.
I've made it all the way to Level 35 and still haven't even unlocked the Fury skill tree. I've reached the end of both the Combat and Survival trees and dumped some points in some other skills, but still haven't opened it. What is Xian's Fury mode? Also, handgun ammo is incredibly easy to find. One shot to the head is an instant kill on all humans unless they are wearing headgear, and anyone using a handgun carries a box of pistol ammo which carries 15 rounds. So if you have a 15 round clip from the generic light handgun, then you can get 225 rounds if you're careful. Really, if you have even a mediocre handgun, you're pretty much set. You don't really need rifles or shotguns. Though if you do take a rifle, stick with the semi-autos. Same clip size, usually better damage, and usually more accurate. The full-autos just waste ammo. Guns are generally useless against zombies, especially at the later levels because there is no natural damage boost and it takes a large number of rounds. You're better off just sticking to melee and kicking. Ohh, and I hate the "Infected" enemies. Especially in the higher levels because they take out several bars of health with a hit, hit repeatedly in a short time frame, hit while running, can outrun you, have high health, and don't respond as much to kicking as "Walkers". In fact, they often just ignore kicking and continue to maul you. [editline]8th September 2011[/editline]
Goes up to 150% = 2.5X the standard rate help how do i math
Its a boost of %150. Its %150 added on to the base rate. IE 250% or 2.5.

15 hours to EU unlock. Already preloaded it. This really sucks. Atleast we'll get a patched version off the bat.
Aaaaand gamebreaking bug time. I have to get 2 packs of Juice and bring them to the Lifeguard Station. Stupid thing is I can't turn it in, it tells me to go check the second gas station again. But the second I go away from the juice in my truck, it tells me to go back to the juice and turn it in.
It's so annoying that I have to manually select my knives so I can throw them. Every time I throw my knife the melee weapon gets in my hands, not the next knife. Any way I can make all of my ranged weapons come automatically one after the other?
Any response to this? I play as Logan and I have to manually select my knives to throw them. Because every time I throw a knife my main melee weapon comes up.
Any response to this? I play as Logan and I have to manually select my knives to throw them. Because every time I throw a knife my main melee weapon comes up.
I just found out how, press the middle mouse button to switch weapons.
how's logan by the way? I've been playing as Sam B in multiplayer but im getting pissed since I can't get all 3 of my friends on at the same time so I'm level 10 with 2% completion
Got this by way of a four-pack, pretty fun, but buggy as all hell
I just found out how, press the middle mouse button to switch weapons.
Well yeah, that's what I meant with "manually select". I'd like if all my knives would come automatically one after the other.
Yeah what are the differences in the characters? I've only been Sam B so far
My PS3 Special edition just arrived c: Shame I can't download the Bloodbath stuff now. But I downloaded the Ripper. The Piece of paper said 'Bloodbath DLC won't be available till Late September.' In my opinion, the Special Edition box looks a hell of a lot better than the normal. Just looks cleaner and more artistic.
Yeah what are the differences in the characters? I've only been Sam B so far
See my post above. Purna is a super-meta INSANE BUFFs character. [editline]8th September 2011[/editline] Her bio thing says "guns expert" but most of her skills don't have to do with guns.
what a rip 90% of sam b's are all blunt weapon related if I had known that the upgrades would be THAT exclusive...
Most badass thing to happen to me in this game yet: Fighting a miniboss, I threw a knife at him, then I shot him in the head 12 times with a Revolver, after running out of ammo I threw a wrench at him, then I tried to hit him but it didn't do much and he punted me back a good 4-5 meters. So I got up, charged, and jump-kicked causing him to stumble, then I picked up the wrench and smacked him in the head full force, bashing his skull in causing him to stumble around spraying blood for a few seconds, before collapsing on the ground and dying. I wish this game had a replay and record function.
Holy shit! Shooting an zombie with an desert eagle and seeing him fall from the force on his back and die is so satisfying! I love this game so much, I am so glad that it works perfect on the xbox. I am also glad to have choosen Purna! How come I am 20% in the game and lvl 21? I am doing to much other shit :v: I also found an single shot m4a1. [editline]8th September 2011[/editline] You can also put controls on analog which lets you experiment with swings! You can choose to attack from rear, up, sides, down to up and down to rear and what not! Hard to get used to but works with an xbox360 controller.

There's a spot to put them down near the back.
