I really hope there is a fuel mechanic with vehicles where you can fill the tank by finding assorted gas cans or you refuel at a gas station, but you have to hold out from a zombie attack until the tank is full.
That would be so cool.
Uh, zombies aren't realistic in the first place... And Romero zombies are considered the classic zombie so they would be considered the "realistic zombie". I recommend you watch some real, classic zombie movies before you say that these zombies aren't good enough.
I watched Night of the living dead. Am I cool yet? :v:

Or you know "Oh shit there's too many zombies. Fuck having the tank being full let's get the fuck out of here."

And stupid. Last time I checked filling a gas tank didn't make a fuck ton of noise so having a zombie attack occur just because it's an important task is just stupid and would feel contrived.
I am very disappointed that these zombies aren't the infected-type. I hate the Romero-like zombies that can get shot at from a cannon and they jus tget up, stuff their intestines back into their abdomins, and go back to shuffling.
Zombie apocalypses need realism to be climactic. The whole fun of planning and thinking stuff through gets thrown out the window when you try to rationally decide on the best way of avoiding that torso that is slowly rolling your way, mouth wide open.
Too bad there are way too many games coming out with "blah blah blah infection blah blah blah bits spread it blah blah blah Government did it blah blah blah"
I would actually, for once, want to see the military being helpful and trying to evacuate all the survivors off the island. Some bit in the game would be great if you see a checkpoint with helicopters flying away and soldiers checking over civilians for bites. Then for it all to get fucked by a zombie hoard would add the sense that nobody can help you.
Dead Rising was decent because it didn't take itself seriously. The only problem was the weapon damage and time system.
I liked the time system, it made the story work out better (even though the story wasn't that great).
Made it less like GTA, where you'd do one mission, free roam for 10 in-game days, then the story just go on like you did the last mission a minute ago.
But yes, it could have been done better...
I hope Dead Island will be awesome :D
We all do.
It's a nice change, though- a zombie game that actually gives you emotional attachment to the characters. Like, serious emotional attachment, as in you're fighting for the people you love. No more mindless hack-and-slash mechanics. It's certainly a different take on the genre.

The trailer music reminded me of something that a funeral procession from the Edwardian Era might play.
Hopefully random human NPCs actually turn into zombies when they are bitten.
Red Dead Redemption's Undead Nightmare had this, and I was very grateful for it being included as a feature (lots of other people were, too).
It would be better if the infection was unkown causes.
I really hope they use the Zombie Survival Guide as a... well, guide for the zombies. I want zombies that shuffle around aimlessly when there is nothing to eat nearby. When you are spotted they should stare at you while moaning loudly, which in turn will signal other zombies within hearing range that there is food available. Those zombies will moan, calling more zombies etc. This means you will have to try and be stealthy, or at least always on the move.
Damn, I don't think I have been this hyped by a zombie game yet.
They already stated shamblers and runners. And a few special mixed in.
Here's hoping the game won't be a huge dissapointment.

You and me both partner.
We can only hope and wait for gameplay vids
I saw this a few days ago, it looks amazing, can't wait for it to come out!
I hope to see more on this soon, the date on the shirt is probably just a reveal on more info, I'll bet 50$ that it is not the release date of the game.
Won't matter for them.
"OH NO! A KID GETS KILLED IN THIS TRAILER? IT WILL MAKE PEOPLE WANT TO KILL KIDS!"
This is the kind of stupid reasoning they have. The same kind of people say RE5 is racist for having black "zombies".
Yeah, I never understood that, Africa is 80-90% Black, but it's racist to have that in a game?
I think it's the exact opposite, taking blacks out of a game I would personally find offensive if I were black.
Its funny how shooting black people and shooting white people is perfectly fine.

That's exactly what I was hoping for. I keep my Zombie Survival Guide next to my bed... you know, in emergencies?
I can't even wait for gameplay footage.
I wish that in the beginning of the game, it was your first day to visit the island. And you get to only explore the resort now and get to see people enjoying their day.
And then tomorrow that's where the outbreak starts.

I hope that the beginning of the game gives you some type of training before the outbreak starts.

This. Then you could start the game in many ways.
It would be cool if all the NPC survivors all started in the same place as your character and just all ran off into different places and tried to survive, and you could come across them later in the game dead or zombified or something. I doubt it'd happen but it'd be pretty neat.
Why does everyone keep reversing the trailer? I for some reason found the original to have much more impact, possibly because at the end you see them as a family and the opening sequence worked much better.
I remember a couple years ago on this forum I made 3 'dream game' threads where I detailed games that I'd love to see made, Dead Island actually comes really close to one of them. Makes me happy. I think it was 2008 so Dead Island must have evaded me at the time.
I did find out about it during the long period of silence on its development though. And was quite sad to think at the time that it had died. I would have posted this earlier but I wanted to try and dig up my old post. It's gone now though. If anybody knows what I'm talking about and still has a way to see it could you point me in the right direction?

Combat mechanic training would be what?.....A tennis match?

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they did do that. Techland seems to like having peaceful interaction moments with some exploring to build up character development and atmosphere. They've shown that in Call of Juarez.
I read somewhere (on their site I think) that you arrive on the island in a plane crash and the zombie infection has already begun. military is also there trying to contain the infection. If I find the information I'll link to it sometime
