I still cant play, nothing happens after the splash screen.
I'm having this to, I'm currently verifying the integrity of the game cache to see if that helps.
Amazon are being butts and still haven't dispatched my friends copy.
Holy shit this game is amazing, I love breaking the arms off zombies.
Fuck, didn't work.
After reading that SPUF thread, I kinda wondered, that can I get VAC banned when I changed the locale thingy from "En" to "en" in the game.ini?
I played this a bit with my friend and to be honest I think it's pretty shit. FOV is horrible and it's feels heavily consolified.
I found a fix for those who crash on the latest patch. Go to Steam\steamapps\common\dead island\DI\Data\ find a file called game.ini, change Locale("En") to Locale("en")
Nevermind, did this and it worked. Thanks.
Super, another small patch with no notes as to what the fuck it was for.
Definatly not annoying at all..not one bit..
You can only get VAC banned by messing with DLLs or doing Hex editing.
HOW TO FIX DI FOV (IT'S EASY)
1. Go to your Dead Island/DI folder
2. Open data0.pak with 7zip/WinRAR
3. Extract default_levels.xml from the "skills" folder
4. open default_levels.xml in notepad
5. Find the line "DefaultFOV." by default it's at 62.5, atrocious.
6. 4:3 USERS: Set the FOV to 75.
16:9/16:10 USERS: Set the FOV to 80-82, anything higher than 82 messes with viewmodels
7. Go to your Documents/Dead Island folder
8. Make a new folder "Data" and make a subfolder in it "Skills"
9. Place your modified default_levels.xml in the Skills folder
10. Launch the game and enjoy your tolerable FOV!
need a way to make weapons unbreakable
need a way to make weapons unbreakable
Once you start getting high-tier weapons (and upgrading them) stuff gets really durable. Plus fists are REALLY effective weapons. I haven't used weapons on anything except thugs for about 20 levels.
Is there a savegame editor out yet? Picked the asian chick but kinda regret it, but I have some nice weapons :C
I've just started a side quest where I have to get some guy booze. And I've already given him 5 bottles and he wants more, so I went off to find it and I've forgotten where he is and there's no marker so I can't finish the quest :(
also whats the level limit
Level caps 50, and you need to give him 15 booze bottles. And switch the quest to out of stock or whatever and you'll see a pointer for him.

Ok cheers, there's no pointer for him, but I'm guessing it will appear when I have enough booze.

Well if it doesn't, it's pretty much to the west of where you almost got your head bashed in by the doctor, like in the middle of that pool area.
So, is lockpick ever used? I'm on act 3 now and I've only ever seen one locked thing, and that was in the back of a truck on the starting island.
I really regret sinking 3 skillpoints into maxing it.

Every other chest I find is locked. I guess it's just random, but I'm thinking about getting that skill due to all of the locked chests I find.

You must not be looking hard enough. I just now got to Act 3 and I've seen a bunch of em.

Erm, that hasn't happened to me yet, I found it during my first quest. I went for a wander...

I'm exploring everything, my steam friend just says that if you max lockpick everything shows up as unlocked, so I guess that's why.
Me and my friend lost connection to steam at the same time so bye bye multiplayer -_-

you haven't played the prologue??
Bloodey hell, the second It actually finished installing, the steam network is down and it's saying "Dead Island requires steam to be played".
Fuck sake.
Just casually walking along, and all of a sudden crashes everywhere.
Now I can't even play it, Fan-fucking-tastic.
It launches for about a second and then just stops dead, all it does is show the loading "Dead Island" box and then it's just my desktop, no game, no nothing. Stupid fucking game, I demand my money back for this piece of shit.
This game is fucking incredible. Experienced no glitches and runs maxed out at an amazing framerate. I'm in love with this.
Anyone found any good trainers?
Fuck sake, steam keeps going down !!
