Was there an update throughout today?
I was able to play fine yesterday, but today it crashes after the splash screen.
I am encountering this same problem.
Any solutions?

This worked for me!

This achievement is more widely completed than the one for exploring the whole island, and this one is literally impossible.
I don't think I'm going to get the exploration one.

I have 1 day 4 hours and it felt like a eternity.. i played borderlands for 8 days. I can't imagine 28 days it has to be a joke.
i thought that it meant start the game up for the first time, in 4 weeks you get an acheivment
but then i realised thast was stupid
It's a reference to 28 Days Later.
Well i knew that, how do you get the achievement though? My point is just that it's pointless to have a achievement no one will ever be able get.

i assume it means playing it for 28 days. Like at least play it a little each day for 28 days or something like that, not have 28 days of actual play time.

it's when you play the game after 28 days of starting it. so if you bought it on the first and you play it on the 28th again or later it works. you can play in between those days too and it'll still count afaik
Haven't purchased it yet but going to tonight, anybody know if there's any "heavy artillery" in the game?
It just means play it once, 28 days later play it again.

once you get about 40% through the game you start collecting weapons but they only range from pistols to shotguns to assault rifles. you can mod them up and whatnot and give them electric damage and things like that but you're not going to find completely OP weapons (although there are a few static machineguns you'll stumble across every now and again). typically you just use weapons for firefights and/or extremely dire situations but otherwise you'll just be beefing up weapons and clobbering zombies with those

NO ONE HAD THE 360 VERSION OF DEAD ISLAND.
They had SHITLOADS of the PS3 Version though. That none of my friends are playing...
Apparently everyone didn't think Dead Island would be this popular.
Every time I look for a 360 game and it ends up being sold out, they always have tons of PS3 versions
Dang, I was hoping for something along the lines of a hunting rifle or something scoped.
Think they'll be adding things like weapons to the game anytime soon?
Probably not

Guns are boring in this game anyway. You're making me think you're a shooting game-type

No, not really, I just think that if they threw in something long-range it would be nice. Nothing like popping heads from a good distance. Besides, I love a good melee system, which is mostly why I'm buying the game.
I had to go back to baseline restore point on comodo because windows wasn't installing drivers.
I'm gonna emulate the xbox 360 controller on my PS3 controller and try out the analog control mode and see how that works.
I finally emerged from the sewers after fighting a gang of punks, 2 rams, 5 floaters, countless suiciders and thugs. I return to the church, only to find i have to go back to the sewers again. FML
Anyway the corpse outside the church on the stairs had diamonds so i took those and came back later it had a medium medkit.

Oh god don't let this turn into the new Arma II with all the expressions and glitches :v:
is the npc bartering system broken for anybody else?
like literally i can not, even with new characters, trade with npcs. it just doesn't work. can't sell; can't buy; nothing shows up in their screen at all other than the gui.

doesnt really matter, their shit is way too expensive and your shit sells for nothing. Ive played most of the time without buying or selling anything.
yeah i don't really plan on using them but it still irks me because i'm curious about what those dudes carry
guess they forgot one.

Alright, grabbed a pic of the purple skull spot, waypoint is pointing towards the church to give you some reference of where it's at:

I also went back and grabbed the orange skull craft, which is Developer's No. 1 Craft, so I'm supposing there's at least 4 skulls out there.
This game is going fucking slow for me, too. I'm level 42 and only 53% done with 19.5 hours clocked.

dude. that's what makes the game worth the price tag. it doesn't get boring either.
[editline]10th September 2011[/editline]
much anyways. it just finds a way to stay interesting.
the only thing that would make the game truly amazing all of the time would be dead rising style cutscenes (except all serious). most of the dead island cutscenes are GARBAGE because all four people are going about looking dumb

Definitely not a big deal AT ALL to me, I don't really care about cut scenes because they take me away from the game.
I really wanna play more but I have to wait for all my friends to be ready cause we don't want to spoil and play without each other. We're only on Act I Chapter 4 and we've been playing since release.
Having just beat the game I can safely say that the Prison was the worst part of game hands fucking down. If the game didn't just respawn you when you died the final boss would be fucking impossible playing alone.
The fast zombies are cheap as fuck they run up your ass where you can't hit them and they hit hard and get up fast when you knock them down. The big zombies are kinda cheap sometimes, their reach is slightly longer than their arms and they can sometimes hit you even though it should have missed. I also don't like how the suicider is an instant kill, it should do major damage but an insta kill seems kinda cheap to me. I turned a corner once walked right into one and was dead before I even knew what happened.
Some weapons feel like their reach isn't correct like the sword, it should be a bit longer and it shouldn't break as fast because it's a fucking sword! It breaks quicker than a wooden bat! What is it made out of Fisher Price plastic!?
I also hated having to escort that dumb bitch to the lab. Jesus fuck there was a jeep right fucking there but no, we have to walk all the way there because taking the car would be the intelligent thing to do.
Money is worthless for anything but fixing and upgrading weapons, trader shit isn't worth jack squat and selling stuff if a waste of time because 99% of the stuff you sell is worth pennies.
Despite my gripes I really enjoyed the game and it was worth the price I paid.

yeah the gameplay makes up for any bad to it.
and the soundtrack.

& yeah p much all of this ALTHOUGH thugs were really well balanced i think. they hit hard with haymakers BUT they are easy to take down. the biggest thing about fighting them is to time yourself perfectly. also leaping back from their attacks saves yourself from getting demolished in a few hits. otherwise they're okay and, hell, most of the time they're avoidable because they don't really hunt you down at all
[editline]10th September 2011[/editline]
same goes for rams. except sometimes with rams you can ignore one and he'll appear a few minutes later and kick your face in and you scream because you weren't expecting him to have chased you five blocks at ALL (true story)
I also hated the dude main characters, they were douchebags. It's quite a disconnect when you're romping around helping everyone in sight and then a cutscene pops up and the guy you're playing as acts like a total prick.
