I just finished the game and I gotta say I feel a bit speechless.

[sp]So I don't know where this whole military chemical experiment idea came from, but I saw none of that shit in the game. Nobody knows for sure how the zombie outbreak occurred, but according to Kevin the entire world is no longer normal, so it must have spread out beyond Banoi too.
Also the reason I say I'm speechless is because the ending felt a little empty, and like many other games and movies out nowadays they had to tack on a cliffhanger and leave a lot of things unanswered.
I never really found the story overall to be weak, it was pretty good although a little generic and predictable, however the storytelling was a bit bad. The poor animations in the cutscenes tended to kill the moment whenever they tried to make it seem dramatic. Not to mention a strong lacking of facial animations. They seemed to always look the same way no matter the situation.[/sp]
Now that I re-read that there was not a lot worth spoiler tagging there, but you can never be too careful. However I fucking love this game overall, aside from some hokey animations at times and the occasional glitch, this is definitely one of my all-time favorite games.
I look forward to more of this game in the future, maybe an extra Act added in via DLC or hell, I'd even pick up a sequel if they released one.
Sorry if someone posted how to do this already, but my mate found out how to enable analog figting mode with keyboard and mouse.

Put this into Documents\DeadIsland\out\Data
This binds all the default keyboard binds to the xbox controller-mode you can select ingame
Then select the controller ingame and change to analog fighting. This lets you swing your weapon from different directions.
It's really hard to use though
EDIT: Apparently you can't accept or deny missions with this.

You think that's bad, I got all the way to the Lab right before my saves died.
Been changing a few graphical settings (removed bloom, removed weapon blur, added FSAA and such), which I imagine won't cause de-syncing with other players online. However on some other stuff I'm not so sure. I'd imagine that stuff like making zombies not drown and adding weather to all parts of the island would cause desync right?

Yes. You can swing from 4 directions, but it's really hard to use with mouse since you have to flick it in a weird way.
They should have made it like it is in Dark Messiah in my opinion.

No, the saves are loaded into the game, it's just the campaign part of the game does not work. Your stats and inventory will work, but campaign progress will be reset. Your weapons will also be reset when you wake up in the beach hut.

Also, had a bug where all I could do was control my mouse. I was constantly walking forward and I had to quit the game to fix it. I did manage to beat a quest like that because of my co-op partner.
Honestly, this game would be great if the developers weren't lazy fucks who took shortcuts with everything. Rushed title with an annoying amount of bugs/glitches and stupid issues that were over looked (you can't use text chat if you're using your controller, you can't use your keyboard or mouse combined with a controller at all in fact, why? Because the developers were lazy fucks, I just told you this.)
