Welp. I just beat the game, and I have to say. Pretty sweet.
Spoilers ahead.
[sp]Jin sacrificed herself for absolutely no reason. They could have overrun him without dying.
Seems the zombie outbreak was caused by the tribals eating the dead where a disease similar to Mad-cow disease mutated or atleast that was what I got out of it.
The ending was very open ended and leaves a lot of questions to be answered. Also White was a total joke as a boss, me and my friend just went into rage mode and killed him in 5 seconds and bursted out into laughter wondering if that was really the last boss.[/sp]
Also, in the DLC section in Extras there is Ryder White's Campaign... what the hell is going to happen with that because [sp]he dies.[/sp]

Fuck fuckity fucking fucker fuck FUCK.
I HATE the Infected rush, I've been killed so many times in the city because I've been mobbed by Infected.
Yes. You can swing from 4 directions, but it's really hard to use with mouse since you have to flick it in a weird way.
They should have made it like it is in Dark Messiah in my opinion.
I take it it's not really worth using then? Let's hope the developers patch it into the game (with due adjustments so it works well with a mouse).
game started crashing on startup for some reason
I have done the game.ini fix

god damn game.ini reset itself.
It's a shame it is so scripted in some places. The same zombies spawn in the same places. If there was a walker sitting on a bench, you just know it will be there if you return. Same goes for the weapons.
sadly yeah.

[sp]It's a mutation of an indigenous disease called "Zuku" or "Zuru" or some shit. The aborigines started practicing cannibalism on the infected when they saw they would rise from the dead, and that amplified the symptoms (Hence the Mad Cow example the doctor gives) and caused it to spread across the entire island in a matter of hours. The only reason it gives for the four main characters' immunity is that they're all blood type O-. [/sp]
[sp]...I'm blood type O- :smug:[/sp]
[sp]My buddy Left Hand of Glova'd him to the ground and I just went Xian rage and cut him up. I've had harder fights against thugs.[/sp]
Guys, tell me, what's the fix for startup crashes (where you change En to en or something). I am sure it is that thing, as my game plays just normal when I select Russian language, and crashes when I select english
What this game really delivers on is the amount of detail put into it, I can go anywhere in the game and it's almost like I would be walking there in real life, no I'm not talking about graphical capabilities I'm talking about the placement of chairs, misc props and other stuff.
The only other game I can compare that to (from the top of my head) is Blacksite.
Also I learned this trick from somebody in this thread but I thought I'd offer a more refined method (for Sam B):
Start leveling him up in the Bone Breaker trait (survival tree) and pick on some Thug(s). Make sure to kill off any other Undead before taking on the Thug. Make sure you've got a completely broken blunt weapon (go for more forceful ones) and break their arms asap. This makes it easier to fight them without having to dodge all the time.
Next you want to hit his shoulders and only his shoulders, you get loadsa exp each time you do this and they won't take much damage at all, allowing you to whack them plenty of times.
I've leveled up twice from one Thug and three times from two of them using this method, almost level 20 and still doing lighthouse missions.

Might get pretty boring, if you reach the level cap around the severs or moresby.
Ok I'm back.
Bans over.
So basically finished the game, playing again now with another character.
Still fun.
Gonna LAN this afternoon.
What's with the weapon pic? Is it some special weapon you get for 100%ing the game?
It's not some reward weapon for completing the game, it's an ordinary Mace of some sort that I can remember the name of with an electric-type upgrade.
I had one in Act III.

Zombies are a little too easy for me at low levels, I guess this just makes them harder to kill.
But fuck the infected, they get in way too quick for me to react sometimes.

Thanks a lot, mate!
I suggest to everyone using purna to first go combat to boost firearms and THEN survival, I made the mistake of going survival first which made my firepower piss weak.
Spoilers regarding the ending.
[SP] Does anyone think that Kevin isn't who he says he is? The radio explains about a deadly hacker named Charon, Kevin hacks shit. When you are flying away in the ending and he says the world wont be the same he starts to smile to himself like a bastard, I might be jumping to a stupid theory here but I finished the game thinking Kevin is actually a bad guy who's going to spread the virus beyond the island.[/SP]
I'm not sure if this has been posted about already, but...
Am I the only one getting motion sickness from the head bobbing? :v:

[sp]I am pretty sure its him, just because it repeats about the hacker 2 times or so[/sp]

My thoughts on what's implied in the ending.
[sp]Kevin is clearly "Charon", they focused on Charon in that news broadcast far too much for it to be unrelated. Sidenote: he looks like Gordon Freeman imo.[/sp]
[sp]It seems like he has plans for Yerema, who is probably an infected/carrier considering she ate infected brains.[/sp]
[SP] I found it sad aswell that the lifeguard and all other survivors you encountered will be blown up due to the nuke and you cant do anything to get them off :([/SP]

wow don't tell that that teddy fetish woman, she would kill you without beeing a zombie.
Anyone fancy hitting coop on the ps3? Pm me or write on you profile your name I'll add you
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but Dead Island on 360/PS3 + years subscription to FHM for £30. Seems like its UK only. I caved in and bought it this morning for PC before I saw this. Steam is taking so long though. 60%

Do you plan on playing Co-op?
warning editing dead island distribution files directly may result in being vac banned
to reduce the risk that you will be vac banned disable VAC in the games settings.
please note that regardless of how you have vac set if you join a coop game that is vac enabled you will also be vac enabled. so limit your coop play to only hosts that you are sure are also vac disabled.
+ there is no need to edit any dll or exe or pak files. in fact a way has been discovered that does not require us to change Dead Island distribution. which while not 100% safe from vac ban, sounds promising and less risky. so if you changed your dll or pak files or any other DI file please verify cache content immediately and go back to the official distribution.
+ so before doing anything you see in this thread read and understand completely each and every post for the change that you would like to make
+ if you are vac banned, it's for life, it cannot be undone, it can be for all your vac secured games, steam support cannot help you, it's like the worse thing that could ever happen to you, so beware, be very careful, you are more than warned, no i messed up!
+ understand completely what it mean to be vac banned

Alright, I've bought Dead Island. I love it, but I have an annoying problem - the colors seem to be 16-bit. Any way to fix this? It makes the otherwise gorgeous game look like crap.

Try setting the Gamma to default, that may fix it.
