Theres one thing that i think they should have added.
The ability to pick up dismembered limbs, and beat zombies to death with em.
Also is there any way to force the game to save? It seems to be operating on some kind of autosave system, but I'm not sure. It makes me worried that I'm gonna lose my progress every time I quit
[editline]ninjas...[/editline]
Automerge
Can i enable the analog fighting thing if i plug in my 360 controller?
yes
;32249029']I really need a good sum up on this game guys. I want to make my decision today.
I'm getting A LOT of mixed reviews, not from IGN or GT etc... but from players themselves.
Friend One:
> Boring at start but gets interesting later
> Worth it if you play with friends
> Wants me to get it
Friend Two
> If you're new to mmorpg it's not for you
> Boring
- Many branches that goes under boring - such as takes too long to get things done (running back n forth between cities)
> Too complicated
These are two opinions which I regularly see ... which is why I'm confused.
What I'm into:
> I love long ass story lines because it means I won't finish the game in 3 seconds
> I love Co-op
> Enjoy zombies games (I'm a L4D2 player)
> Although I don't have many RPG games (Fallout: NV being my only RPG game) I do enjoy the genre
Judging from what you now know of my taste, does it look like I would be someone who would enjoy this game a lot ... would it be a hit and miss for me?
It's a lot slower paced than Left4dead. In L4D you are constantly rushing for the safehouse, while DI is much more about exploring. You're also using much more melee weapons, and rarely using firearms (ammo is scarce, and zombies need a lot of bullets to put down). Coop is amazingly fun, as long as you play with friends, and not random lootwhoring retards, who only use their mics to make it clear to you that they are, indeed, asthmatic mouthbreathers.
Things I dislike? Repairing items. Especially at the start, it seems like every weapon breaks after just two kills or so. This means that if you find or make a really awesome weapon, you end up hopping from repairbench to repairbench, just to keep it in fighting condition. Also, there are a lot of sidequests, and they're pretty much all annoying errand quests (go fetch my teddybear, lol!) that involve a ton of backtracking into areas you've already explored. As well as nonsensical repeatable quests, like the woman who keeps bugging you about being hydrated and needing more bottles of water, eventhough you've already given her like thirty of them.
Another thing I dislike is that most of the skilltrees are rather boring. There are no real upgrades that feel like they make a difference, and they're all just small numbers that add up and gradually make you more powerful.
The game also suffers from some balancing issues. Firearms just feel weak. Especially in Co-op, where monsters become progressively stronger the more people you're playing with, it feels like you're shooting with a BB gun.
Some more minor gripes is that you can't walk through other players, which gets annoying when you're in cramped areas. Also, there's tons of random collectable junk, and you have no idea what it's all used for until you start getting the crafting recipes.
Overall though, I love the game. I probably wouldn't have bought it on my own, but my friend really wanted to play it, so he convinced me to buy a quad pack with him and two others.
If the game seems interesting to you, I would recommend to only get it if you have a group of friends who will play it with you. Though the game is certainly enjoyable in singleplayer, it's the co-op that will make this game fun for you. Just as in left4dead, I would recommend you don't play the game with randoms.

This is exactly what I needed, thanks!

Can you complete the quest when you have to give the woman water? I've given her like 40 bottles.

That quest is repeatable quest, you cant complete it
Also does anyone remember that side-quest at the lighthouse where you have to check for a planecrash or something? The reward was 3500 exp and a blue coloured Military Machete, which is fucking incredible since its like the 5th sidequest you get.
somehow i accepted it but it dissapeared from my Quest list an hour later.
So I edited the force of firsts, and someone joined my game, and I punched a zombie and it exploded and flew in the air and I just heard the guy cracking up over his mic :v:
Also where do you edit fist speed, and kick stats?
How do you edit the force of fists and your kick? I want to know how :v:.

Some quests vanish from your log until they're relevant again.
You that quest will reappear once you reach the Jungle.

I had a purple machete for the reward. Then I was sad when quest wasn't in my log.
Yeah the quest will return once you're in the Jungle
I know most of you seem to have a hardon for the coop. Am I the only one who actually DOESN'T enjoy the coop? I was hyped for it and even bought copies for 2 of my friends to play with. It's just not very fun.
I'm enjoying the game more in singleplayer where I can move slow and play around with the zombies. Maybe I'm playing it with the wrong friends since we've had technical issues and we get bored after about an hour or 2.
I like coop, maybe because there's someone there to talk to.But I do enjoy singleplayer a bit more, since i can loot everything for myself and go at my own pace instead of waiting for someone to catch up or finish selling stuff and whatnot.

Indeed. I enjoy being on Skype and able to chat with friends but the pacing is really what kills it. I hate waiting or having others wait for me and when interacting with the rpg system, it can take awhile to plan out your inventory and levels.
SP plays too smoothly, it's boring, you don't have an idiot to get the cars stuck on a tree and shit like that, i play it to have a laugh. It's absolutely fantastic if you have a group of funny friends.
It IS better to play the SP alone first though, that's true, so you won't lose stuff and will enjoy the details better.

That might be where we fucked up then. We wanted to play the story as a group first. We had more fun dicking around rather than following the plot. When we did try to follow the plot, it just turned into a mess. I think I'll try and finish it in SP first.
Anyways, In my coop, why is my friend so underleveled? We played together on these characters. he's always like 3 levels behind and it seems like the gap is increasing. Hes playing as Xian and I'm playing as Sam B.

Noticed that in our game too. I was hosting and we all started at the same time, level 1. I was like level 5 and they were barely hitting level 2.

Were they getting the "This quest will not be written down on your profile" on an updated/new quest?
I have a partner that usually hosts, and I seem to get these messages constantly, although he's only one or two levels ahead.
Yeah, I played the entire story in Singleplayer, then hopped to Cooperative for my second playthrough.
[editline]12th September 2011[/editline]
It could also be a skill based thing, since certain skills boost the experience you receive.

I got this too, I'm not sure why. It seems the host levels faster than anyone else. I just assumed my friend was better and I was crappy :v:
I closed the gap and eventually passed them by being Purna and investing in XP Gain.
Should I buy this even though I don't really have any mates who have this game?
Should I buy this even though I don't really have any mates who have this game?
Go for it. You could even ask your mates about if they would like to try it. You could play it, see if it's a game you think they would like and then suggest it to them. So you all can play together. In the meantime you could play with someone/some people from this thread.
Should I buy this even though I don't really have any mates who have this game?
Yeah, you could probably round up 3 people just from this thread to join you in coop.
I'd be down to play later today. I'd just rather use Skype since my microphone sounds like shit ingame. Preferably would like to play with other people who have mics. (Just finishing up Act 2 so I'd rather play with people before or around that part rather than ahead.)
Holy shit this game got hard fast. Encountered my first zombie spawn a meter behind where i was standing to fight a horde. Died 6 times trying to get passes a barrier because zombies would just spawn behind me, bend me over a table and proceed to have their way with me.
the cut scene at the start of act 3 is a bit weird, its like part of it is missing
