It's a component for the (as far as I know) highest toxic mod, it's called the Deathstalker mod or something. Am I the only one who still can't see fire?
It's like playing "Try and avoid the invisible kill-you trap".
I take entirely new routes any time I see a zombie with yellow damage indicators.
Or whatever color the fire ones are, /colorblind.
Anyone know why theres no SFX sounds? When I'm running I just hear a black man breathing heavily and its disturbing, theres no impact sounds either, when cutting shit up or breaking down doors ect
I've heard Dead Island has trouble with anything higher than 5.1 surround sound, if you've got it set to something above that take it down a notch.
If it's not that at all, try doing this little fix...
Go to the directory: <Username>\Documents\DeadIsland\out\Settings
Open: "Audio.scr" by opening notepad and dragging it into the white space and change
API("XAudio2")
to
API("aOpenAL")
Save it and mark it as read only by right clicking Audio.scr, properties, check Read-only, apply, then go ingame and see if it's fixed.
If it's still screwed up, update your audio drivers or something.
The infected thug you fight as part of that dick's challenge near the lab has got to the be the least fun thing I've ever done in a videogame.
Since nobody likes the ending, I ended up creating an alternate ending that I think would have been better:
[sp]Colonel White contacts you on the speaker system and tells you that the Infected breached his safehouse, and in the chaos his beloved wife was killed in the crossfire by a BIDF Soldier. He orders you to meet him on the rooftop helicopter pad for extraction, and gives you the shortest route without understanding it's dangers. Meanwhile Titus realises you've betrayed him, and decides the best thing they can do now is kill you and try to escape by themselves. The Prisoners acquire the weapons themselves and head for the roof. A group of Prisoners ambushes you in a hallway to slow you down. After killing them, you move to the roof where there's a firefight raging between the Convicts and the Soldiers. Titus is seen leading the battle on one end, with Colonel White leading his men from the helipad. The noise of the battle attracts a swarm of Infected (including all types) that attack the rooftops. In the end, all the Zombies are dead, but the slaughter has also killed all the Prisoners and Soldiers. Titus himself unfortunately has become infected from a bite sustained during the battle. It is then that you have to fight the Infected Titus. Finally after killing Titus, Colonel White gives the all-clear and the doors to the helipad are opened, allowing you to escape on the Helicopter.[/sp]
The End.
How's that?

He was easy for me, I had this amazing upgraded/pride modded shotgun as Purna with all the firearm skills maxed, so it just took one headshot for me to down him. I took butchers, floaters, thugs, and any regular zombie out with one headshot from it. I love that shotgun.
[sp]I even took the final boss out with one shot from my shotgun. It hit him in the chest, crit, and he flew off the rooftop.[/sp] :v:
Just started this.

I have a pride modded shotgun too but it takes 4 shots to kill 1 infected at level 29.

Pretty sure if you track the quest it leads you to it. If not have fun looking.
I've not seen one Purna in any of the co-op games I've played.
She's a myth.

And she can do 15% extra damage to males if you get gender wars, which most enemies are males

Yeah, Purna seems to be underplayed. I really enjoy playing as her, she's pretty decent. I think her Fury skill is the best out of everyone else.
I have a pride modded shotgun too but it takes 4 shots to kill 1 infected at level 29.
Yeah, my shotgun is OP since I'm Purna and have all her firearms skills maxed out, plus it's a level 38 purple-tier shotgun. I love it so much.

I didn't use that skill because I don't like skills that only apply to certain enemies.
Purna's Fury is the best.
Powerful revolver with infinite ammo / no reload and an aimbot + health regen.
Sam B with the skills that extend knock down times by 6 seconds and a 30% chance to KO whatever he hits is brilliant.
The only thing I hate about Purna is whenever she blows something up, she just goes HURR DURR DAT BLEW UP GOOOOOD!
Even if I blow myself up in the blast, she falls back and says it anyway.
Sam B has the best lines.

You can find his friend in the same Bungalow Complex as you find Kim the annoying Water Lady.

Apparently the vibration from the explosions cause Xian Mei to orgasm because she screams "YES!".

It's an unmarked quest.
Well it hasn't been marked in mine.

It was marked for me. You don't start the quest on the radio, you start it near Kim somewhere. I'm pretty sure it's that complex, just keep looking around. If you see some Skulls and maybe a ! then you've probably found it.
Sorry if this was answered earlier in the thread, but is there any way to get anti-aliasing to work? I tried messing with the FSAA setting in Video.scr, but it didn't do anything, and neither did messing about in the nvidia control panel.

When you modified Video.scr, did you set it as Read-only afterwords and hit apply?
If so, then I have no clue why it's not working. Works fine for me. I know this probably isn't helpful, but the read-only thing is a mistake a lot of people fall for.
that teaser showed nothing of the story, nor any relation to quests

You misread what I meant. I didn't say the trailer showed the story, or showcased quests. I said the trailer implied the story was going to be, as I said, "emotional and intricate".

Yep, I tried that. Still doesn't seem to be working.
Yep, I tried that. Still doesn't seem to be working.
FSAA stands for Fullscreen Antialiasing, you running fullscreen?
Also, you modified the bottom part right, not the top ones with the ! prefix?
FSAA needs to be an even number, and it can't go higher than 8, so did you set it as an even number?
If it's set to 8, try 6, if it's set to 6, try 4, if it's set to 4, try 2, if NONE of those work then maybe your video card doesn't support it in Dead Island for whatever reason.
Those're all the possible things I can think of.
