Human enemies can take 1 bullet to the head while zombies can take a boatload?
Who the fuck thought that was a good idea?
humans are so easy to kill
the firefights in this game are a joke
headshot headshot headshot headshot
To be honest I widely prefer the easy-to-kill humans of Dead Island to the invincible can-take-three-thousand-9mm-rounds-through-the-head humans of Dead Rising.
It feels odd to run at a human enemy and smash their head off with a sledgehammer.

Feels good to curbstomp thugs as Sam B
I like to throw axes at their skulls. A very classy 1-hit kill.

I upgraded Gabrial's Hammer with the Tesla mod.
I swear it looks like a thunder hammer out of warhammer or something.
Pimp my hammer.

Nevermind.
Where are the saves located?
I think they are located in steam/userdata/STEAMID/APPID/remote/out/save
I can't remember what the APPID of Dead Island is, go into steam/steamapps/common/dead island and look for steam_appid.txt to find out
I just bought the game, and when I start it up it crashes immediately with the message "Dead Island has stopped working"
Any fix?
Edit:
Changed the file in game.ini to "en" instead of "En", easyyy.
anyone know where to find exceptionably good weapons?
Im currently very pissed off at this game. doing a mission in the town to get some parts for something, and the marker guides me though the first aid tents next to the canal. lots of zombies around so I jump on top of one of the tents and just hit them when they try and grab me, and when only a thug is left, I wasnt going to waste any bullets so I just started throwing my stuff at him.
after killing him and jumping down to retrive all my weapons, I hear a scream of an infected, turn towards the direction of the sound, see him running at me, drop kick him and right when I swing my weapon to kill him I see 2 more infected run around the corner at me. (at this point I knew I was fucked). however luckly managed to drop kick both at the same time, and right about to turn and run for higher ground, 3 more infected ambush me from behind.
After a quick rage after dieing and getting respawned all the way back at the church, I had a 30 min. treck to try and find the damn place where I died, thinking my all my shit despawned, after finding the place and clearing all the zombies back out, I find all my weapons were still there, and upon aproaching them, I hear the same fucking group of infected come from all directions and rape-kill me again.
Lucky spawning me just around the corner this time, I return kill all the zombies again to find all my weapons are GONE!, after shouting cusswords at the screen for a few minutes, I unpause and just continue to the nearest store to at least buy more weapons, But no the game has to be an asshole and send the same fucking group of infected out of fucking no where. After killing me and respawning me across the canal, the group immeadiatly spots me again and surrounds me and rape-kills me again, and again and again, etc.
As soon as all my money was drained by the death penalty, I fucking football spiked my controller into the hard concrete floor, Shouting "FUCK THIS GAME" multiple times, before rage quitting.
and now my controller is being held together buy nothing but electrical tape, because all the screw mounts and casing shattered upon hitting the floor.

That motherfucker took so damn long to kill. Mainly because I exclusively throw my weapons, so I had to keep going up to him to get my shit back. I still won though.

Angry videogame players are half MacGuyver, I can attest to this fact.
I tried to edit the inventory.scr file... It wouldnt start my game back up and I had to validate files to get it to work... Shits hard to do.
That's weird, never had that happen.
When you edited the file, you did extract it out of Data0.pak right? You didn't try putting it back in the .pak?
For the sake of clarity, what you do is extract whatever file you want out of the .pak onto your desktop or wherever, you make your changes, then you go into Documents/DeadIsland/ and make it follow the structure you saw in the .pak.
Using inventory.scr as an example, in Data0.pak, we see that Inventory.scr is simply in the Data folder, so in Documents/DeadIsland, we need to create a folder that says Data. Once you do that, open that folder, and plop your modded Inventory.scr right in there. Unlike video.scr, you do NOT need to mark it as read only. I don't need to, anyway. If your settings don't seem to stick, you can always try making it read only.
Furthermore, let's say you modded default_levels.xml in Data0.pak which can be found in Data\Skills. To get your modified version to work, you would need to open up Documents\DeadIsland\Data\ and make a Skills folder, then place your modified version of default_levels.xml inside this folder since in Data0.pak, it was inside Data\Skills.
Hope that makes sense. I can put up a mini tutorial if people are still confused/want me to.
anyone know where to find exceptionably good weapons?
This probably isn't really helpful, but the best weapons can be found in those metal chest containers. Certain quest rewards will also reap unique versions of items sometimes. I don't think there's any real way to go hunting for them outside of this since more or less everything is randomly generated.
Anyone up for a game now?
Add me via the steam icon under my avatar.
The scariest part in the game was when I quit in town.
Ended up resuming in the middle of the jungle.
What the FUCK!
also where is the plane crash in the jungle?
Theres what looks a really wide open area to the north of the River village. The plane's there. That or track the quest and it'll lead you there.
I don't understand why people can't find the plane crash in the jungle. The marker brings you right to it...

Yeah you just go right to it, stop beside the path and walk for 5 seconds.
Jason was easy to fight, I jsut let him fight the zombies and fired at his head.
Is their any way to get inside the police station, or do I have to do
the mission?

Or run past him get the chainsaw and kill him almost instantly.

You gotta do the mission.
me want good wep me cant find :(
ok we have a problem!,
it might be because i am running it on the windows 8 developer preview but for some odd reason my dead island doesn't want to pick up any mods... I have them extracted to C:\Users\xxx\Documents\DeadIsland\out...etc and when the game runs it is like it doesn't recognize them.
I also have the dead island helper and the only thing that works from that program is the "Play Dead Island" button and i know it works because it doesn't play the intro videos, but in game i still have blur/bloom etc... the weird thing is the game seems to have better performance (fps wise) on the windows developer preview rather than on windows 7.
Hopefully somebody who has had the same issue could help me out.

probably misunderstood at first, but this is the one i am mainly wanting to try... but like i said even the dead island helper functions don't work.
