That doesn't make any sense at all, a virus isn't going to be dormant until a certain amount of people have it.

No he's right, that's over exaggerated like crazy. Human ears, even if they are zombified, are not going to be able to hear a sound 50 fucking miles away. So you're telling me a zombie can hear my footsteps inside a house from 50 miles?
Deal with it, you have too much time on your hands if you spent time contemplating whether games are realistic or not.
Games are not meant to be realistic, especially a fucking zombie game. Are you expecting the devs to discover some sort of scientific breakthrough so they can have a virus in a zombie game that's 100% realistic?
They said that guns will be in the game but rare to find and ammunition is even rarer. Who's going to bring guns in a tropical vacation spot?
Well, I was more thinking that the security forces would get non-lethal guns like tazers or rubber bullets, that could be used to make a quick getaway or fight off hostile survivors without too much noise or damage done.
To be honest, I think this is overhyped as hell. I don't expect the final game to get very good reviews. This idea has been done millions of times. It failed.

...no it hasn't...

Well, there was one other example of this called Fort Zombie. It wasn't ever really recognized and is a bit unpolished.

A zombie survival game has never been done before.
Zombie shooters have, where you just run around killing zombies. Think L4D, Dead Rising.
Zombie games where you have to think to survive, hide and bunker down and go searching for supplies where a single zombie could kill you. Think WWZ.
So thats Logan :D
Looks badass.

Damn, I dont want mutants D:
Sprinting zombies will increase the fear. Fuck, if a zombie was slowly walking towards me, i'd put on my smug face and beat it down.
If it's sprinting AT me, I would turn around and sprint away leaving a trail of shit for it to slip over.
Wow, Logan's hair looks like shit.
I don't really mind the special infected provided they're rare. Like guns, make them rare, but very cool experiences.

Slow zombies are scarier.
Sprinters: "HURR DURR I RUN AT YOU, OH WAIT I DIE IN LIKE 2 SHOTS TO THE CHEST LOL"
Slow: "If you shoot me, and you don't destroy my brain, I'll still be coming at you until either of us dies"
Sprinting reduces the fear actually. There is no real fear with sprinting zombies just excitement. When you have slow zombies you have real fear.
Sprinters every now and then would be kind of interesting. Oh and imagine hacking that big fucker open with an axe or something, nasty.
I don't mind a mix of shamblers and sprinters like in this. I'm just tired of there being tons of "zombie" games having the zombies be appearantly mega-hip and cool infected that sprint like l4d1 or l4d2. I just hope the shamblers are more common in this.
As for unique zombies, provided they're a really rare experience I also don't mind them. They could really spice the game up as long as they're not direct rip-offs from l4d.

Debatable. A slow zombie is easy to pick off. Running zombies however (assuming they don't use the typical "lol it's infected so you don't have to destroy the brain" crap) will be MUCH more scarier because you:
A. Can't aim for the head properly
B. Will probably run out of stamina before it does
There's nothing to fear from a slow zombie "oh shit it's coming at me, let's power walk away from it"
Runners that are relentless wouldn't be fun in a melee centric game like this that has degradable weapons. Would get way too hard.
A lot of people seem to drift off into thinking whats the scariest/realistic variation or whatever instead of thinking whats fun and works well given the games other mechanics.
Oh yeah, on the topic of runners I hope this game will have dismemberment. Would be fun lopping off the leg of a runner and watching him crawl.
Just read that article, seems like it'll be in, good.

The term sprinter, means they sprint, i'm sure. I doubt they'll consistently run, they'll likely just sprint
Except the fear from the slow zombies doesn't come from picking off.
Its 2 things. Groups and supplies.
1. Slow zombies are near harmless alone (unless ambushed). However, if you were to kill it with a gun or make too much noise, hundreds will come.
2. This isn't L4D. Guns are rare. Ammo is even more rare. If you decide to kill one zombie, fine. However you won't find yourself charging into a group of 10 zombies with nothing but an axe.
I updated the OP with new Gamespot info posted on the last page. Thanks to the users that posted it! :buddy:
I hope this game has landmines or traps by release.
Traps, we need traps!

In L4D, you can decapitate 10+ zombies with a machete !!! L4D is more like run-n-gun,rush and intensity. Not to mention its funny as well when players yell through the mic and Coach's dialogue. Dead island is based on strategy,good-teamwork,using everything you got around you to survive. Dead rising, well, is something like Dead Island, only you are solo and you get to combine stuff for the ultimate arsenal of weaponry. A bit fake too.
L4D shouldn't even be compared, L4D doesn't contain any zombies (only living humans infected with a rabies-like virus) classifying it as a non-zombie game.
Logan is the man in the trailer.
I guarrentee it. Go look then match the shilouette to the guy in trailer.
Same shorts, same hair, same shoes

If you look at the Op, it says logan is not the dad. Plus the family in the trailer is gonna be a side quest.
So that makes logan not the dad.

I kinda gathered that last part myself.
I also just saw some pics of logan, holding a lightning sword.
Also I saw an interview on what this game was originally supposed to be from 2007
you wake up after plane crash in original one looking for your wife stopping zombies and escaping.
Crazy huh?
I dunno, I like how they're doing crafting a-la dead rising 2 but is it just me or does it feel kind of "out there?"
I'll probably just not do the over-the-top recipes personally when I play. A lightning machete is just ridiculous.
Let's Think of long term Fear from a slow zombie and a fast one (both don't die from simple shots in the head)
Your running from a slow zombie in the forest, however the slow fuck gives you plenty of time to think, as you run/walk more you see more of these slow bastard's...you get the image you might get corned in a tight place or surrounded and you lose it, Slow things that will always pursue you is more long term scarier then a fast one, it's the "Oh fuck it's still following me" compared to a fast zombie where you think "Fuck i'm dead, Least it will be quick"
What you rather have, Short Paranoid or the ever constant threat that thing will catch up to you
