And the terrible story isn't an excuse to come into a thread about a game you apparently detest highly and bitch. You are indeed representing the "Poop" in your name sir.
[editline]ANDTHERANTCONTINUES[/editline]
It's really one of my pet peeves, you could be trolling, but I doubt it. This thread is for enthusiasts of the game. Why the fuck people who don't like a game come into a thread for said game and bitch. You probably aren't going to get anyone to agree with you, sparky.
The zombies ate our story director.

Such witty and well put arguments, if i really hated i wouldn't be bitching about the ending here, obviously, the rest of the game was fun. Can't you argue about the quality of something without blindly defending it ? This is Dead Island discussion, not worshiping.

I don't have to like it to be here, i just can't blindly hate it or worship it like an idiot, if you can't write anything other than calling me troll because i criticized the damn story, don't bother posting.

No, you don't have to like it to be here, but I can imagine if you don't like it then you are surely not wanted here. It indeed looked like you were blindingly hating it simply because you didn't say anything otherwise. Also it seems you can't read, because I've said many things besides calling you a troll.

Oh you would like me to justify my reasonings eh? Okay I'll try:
Situation: [sp]The four playable survivors plus Charon escape in the helicopter designated for Ryder.[/sp]
[sp]Scenario of communications, aka what I'm getting at.
*Charon- oh woops lets use the name he is using, Kevin was it? Can't remember but I'm using Kevin for this. "Kevin" wouldn't need to hide his orange suit as visibility isn't much of a factor if they get contacted by the military. This would be done over a radio as the signature of the helicopter they are in would be under protection from being blown up. Why? Because the plan was for Ryder to be on it, and the military wants him. Any other helicopter wouldn't have a signature on it that would protect it from search-and-destroy, leave no traces routines typically found in these scenarios.
*Next, communicating. I'm no expert on these kind of protocols but there would possibilly be nothing that Charon can't fake, wether that would be morse code or some verification code (person says a code, you pull a book out of the glovebox and recite the correct answer etc) or just a "bomb the bloody place" thing.
*Landing? They can claim to be heading towards an Aussie airforce base and ditch midway (land, not bloody jump out). Fucking simple.
[/sp]
[sp]Scenario of peer to peer, aka what you are adamant about.
*Nothing is stopping Charon from ditching the prison suit and putting on a military jumpsuit or even a pair of slacks that could be found onboard. If not then yes he is an obvious target. If he needed to he can go with his Kevin persona and being an international terrorist I wouldn't be suprised if he disguised himself with an accent and backstory. After all, Banoi is a tourist spot. Plus the survivors owe him, so they could vouch for him if they want a wanted man (he would be a powerful ally, although that's a perspective on morality) on their side.
[/sp]
If these seem like halfassed excusses, then pardon me.
You are giving halfassed accusations.

You can discuss the game all you like, but don't start insulting people when they throw counter arguments in the debate. Otherwise, get out. Simple.
Oh goodie, more posts.
It's safe to say, there have been people post in this thread before genuinely disliking the game, most of them drawing conclusions without playing it.
Now the mentality is this. People who attack the game for one point (in this case, everyone feels the ending was a disappointment) without adding in anything else like actually liking the game will get beaten up for it.
[editline]17th September 2011[/editline]
Oh and once one person takes a dig at the game you can bet somebody else will start soon afterwards.
It's like they are waiting untill someone starts, then they all follow suit.

It's a quarantine, people ARE supposed to get checked after leaving a quarantined zone and a piece of shit colonel wouldn't be able to stop it, he's not in charge, he's just some desperate man that managed to get an evac as a favor.
Landing: they would obviously get checked, i mentioned this before and i don't know why you're getting into it again, even if they did manage to get through the blockade do you really think the military would just let the unchecked aircraft land anywhere ? And If they disobeyed they would get shot, not to mention the survivors making questions about running away from the military, they're not aware of the guy's intentions and that would make it really obvious, the whole thought of them getting away from that is just really fucking stupid.[/sp]
Ah, to celebrate remembering the password to my main I'll post a .gif of what everyone has and will experience during the game.

[sp]You have a point with the first bit.
But there is nothing 'blocking' them apart from remote lockdown of the helicopter or a swift gun-and-run. You are making it sound like they would have the military breathing down their necks, to the extent that they are literally ordering them to land face to face.
The helicopter wouldn't have locked controls unless they can be overridden remotely so there is no reason that they can't at least attempt to fake themselves as Ryder. Then they can say they would land at a designated area and, I dunno, lie. Land on the way to the LZ so they wouldn't be checked and escape on foot?
The rest of the things you say is likely to happen, but I'm thinking of ways they can escape getting caught. Ways that if techland decide to make a sequel and wanted to incorporate the four characters again then they can use those excuses. However, from seeing how the story was handled in this game it would be so obscure these types of arguments would happen all over again.[/sp]
[SP]Ryder is the commanding officer of the whole operation, also the reason the nukes are under his control[/SP]
I didn't insult anyone.
You're implying Techland is idiotic because you can't make sense of the ending, while also bringing that towards another user because they are trying to explain it.
Is this game worth the money? Im still deciding whether to buy it or not.

[sp]The only point between the mainland and the island are the carriers, so that's most likely where the LZ is, they can't land before that or simply ignore the carriers, battleships and all the AA in those, the game mentions and entire fleet so yeah, too much for a little helicopter.
Their only option would indeed be caught, and that means they would all get tested and the girl found out, and if the infection spreads on a ship, even easier to control, with a bunch of other ships ordered to shoot and sight and such.
Details aside though, do you really think an ending where they leave all the people they worked hard to help is Ok ? for fucks sake, they all quickly jumped on that chopper, all very calm and Logan even cheery. That entire lab dies for a vaccine that simply made white mutate into some blobby thing, they brought the infected girl even after the scientist spilled the thing about higher incubation on their faces, it's just too much stupidity, the ending just pinned the last nail on the coffin they called a story.[/sp]

Let him have his sulk, in all honesty it felt like it could have been done better.
(I suppose I did rate him agree there, so here's some more words).
Someone4956, get witty. Show hard evidence that can disprove another's accusations with minimal effort, most of your posts were just attempts at rarking him up. If you weren't intending on doing that then I'm sorry but that's just what it looks like to me.
You're implying Techland is idiotic because you can't make sense of the ending, while also bringing that towards another user because they are trying to explain it.
And you're implying the ending is good and made sense, please elaborate on that one.
Actually, let me just end this... the game was a blast, alright ? spent plenty of quality time on it, it's really fucking fun to play with friends, but the overall quality sucked, you have those shitty models(guns specifically), horrible animations, plenty of bugs, a bad release and the awful story, and how long since the last patch ? they don't seem to be giving too much of a fuck and we still have a bunch of people with problems. I looks like they spent most of the money on a CG that had nothing to do with the actual game, misleading as fuck marketing that just took down the quality of the thing.
You call it a good game, alright, maybe great even, but simply ignoring the issues and acting like the Dead Island defense legion just because you're too defensive about where you waste your money ? that's retarded, i bet that in a year or so the whole defense legion thing will forget about the money and bash the shit out of the game, call it shit even, it always happens.

[sp]I remember a fleet being mentioned but nothing else about that so I'll have to take your word for it. However tricking the military is still an option, even if the odds of passing through onto the mainland unharmed are rather slim.
I can see your second sentence being possible as well, but an infection breaking out just like that?
At the end, "Kevin" said that Ryder was in the process of ordering a nuke (you hear him speaking into a radio, saying things like 'activate plan ####') but it's implied that you stopped him from nuking it. Then he brings up the fact that someone will want to nuke it sooner or later so that leaves the fate of the remaining survivors unknown, do they escape in time or do they cling to hope that rescue will come and get only death?
[/sp]
You want my diagnosis? We are both thinking of different scenarios, [sp]one where they escape only to spread the virus because of whatever plot they come up with and another were they get captured but the military gets reckless and infected. Is it wrong to think that the virus is in the girl but it's the untampered one that takes years, even decades to surface?[/sp]
[sp]And you want his reason for staying? To find a cure for his wife.
I believe that would explain everything, his wife was bitten and was running on borrowed time with whatever medicine that was slowing down the process that was changing her.
If we were to believe he has power and respect for his previous achievements in the military I don't see why the story can't use that as a valid excuse.[/sp]

Honest opinion?
The enviroments are varied and detailed, the gameplay is solid and rewarding, story is something that's good if you don't pay attention to it and it's got the content to last you about 40hrs, 15-20hrs for the storyline and the rest for sidequests and exploring the areas quests don't lead you.
One of the few games worth it's higher pricetag nowdays.
[sp]Is it wrong to think that the virus is in the girl but it's the untampered one that takes years, even decades to surface?[/sp]
[sp]That's what the scientist said, the virus has a longer incubation time on some of the natives, it just pisses me off how they all just ignored that and went on, bringing the girl, that's the problem with the story, the whole thing is just so conveniently set up for fuck ups and it's full of those forced emotive moments that are suddenly forgotten, it feels like a cheesy horror movie. [/sp]
[sp]Now thinking about it, if the virus did stay dormant without replicating, it is possible that they could spread it to mainland after getting captured(still carelessness though, an observation period would fix that), but why would they take the girl ? why would they do all the dumb shit just for the kicks ?, that's what I'm talking about, the whole think just feels so conveniently set up and badly arranged, details are the least of the problems. I was so fucking pissed off by the survivors, they just accomplished absolutely fucking nothing and doomed the world in the process, bunch of selfish bastards.[/sp]

[sp]Jin's parts in the story are indeed stupid, she's just treated as fodder. I feel more sorry for the way her script was written than the events that happened to her. As you said, way too many forced emotional scenes.[/sp]
[sp]Yep, as some may put it this story is one that fucks itself over, but it does leave something that can lead onto a sequel.[/sp]
Sometimes, just sometimes, I wish storylines with potential like this were done by people not trying to compete in a sort of hollywood fashion.
