odd choice of words boyo
why is that odd
How dare you pirate a good game.
good is a subjective term, and i done that to see how well my computer could run the game and whether it was a good game. I never knew people here were so anti piracy anyway so i apologize if i upset you
Is there any way to increase the draw distance?
As it is now, it's just terrible.
[editline]17th September 2011[/editline]
Any other advice on how to increase the graphics quality would be nice. I've already maxed out the stuff in Video.scr and have Dead Island Helper.
Probably not, although it can't be too long before someone figures out how to manually increase the draw distance. Keep checking that thread in (ugh) SPUF that has all the mods in it.
Huh? What's wrong with the draw distance? I can see the entire island whenever it's not being obstructed.
Unless you mean the annoying "pop-in" of props and zombies, that I agree needs to be increased massively.
FUCKING game breaking glitch;

[sp]when you're escorting Ope to Mowen's boat around the 3/4 way through, (he's the native shaman) he gets to the cliff edge and just paces back and forth, any fixes for this?[/sp] game breaking.
Would I get banned?
You can mod anything as long as you don't mess with the distribution files and/or any DLL, any mod that just asks you to put a few files on Documents\DeadIsland\out is safe.
reload the last checkpoint
I've done that more times than i can count. not working and thanks for helping with the spoilers

Does anyone else think it's kind of weird how nearly all junk in the game is worth more than actual food? You'd think people would be willing to pay a lot of money for cans of food or boxes of juice. It's a shame, because it could add a whole other way to make money in the game and another incentive to explore areas looking for food.
Wheres the most common place to find Engine Parts? Desperately trying to put Tesla Mod on Gabriel's Sledge...
Yeah, Canned Food is almost entirely useless, the only use it had from what I remember was early in the main quest when Sinamoi wanted 3 cans of it. Really weird.

Keep looking at all the traders, I've seen them sell Engine Parts before, quit and go back in your game if you are fast traveling all the time and their inventories aren't refreshing.
I just find them at random once in a blue moon in random lootable props like Trashcans, so checking traders is your best bet.

You do know there is a guy in the lighthouse who pays $70 for 2 canned food and is repeatable right?
There are people around the island that will pay and give you exp for canned food.
[editline]17th September 2011[/editline]
There is one in the jungle too.
You do know there is a guy in the lighthouse who pays $70 for 2 canned food and is repeatable right?
No I didn't.. but still. You'd think all traders would have high demand for food. They got the price of engine parts right.

-snip- Nevermind, got confused.
Yeah, that's right.

I found them the first time I looked inside a trash can.
Oh god I JUST got the reference in the "No raccoons in there..." achievement.
Rate me late.
[sp]Plus since I've a Resident Evil fan this is especially shameful.[/sp]
FUCKING THUGS!
How the hell do you take one down? I just end up throwing every weapon I have at them until it dies. But when you have two in an enclosed area it's sort of hard.

Make good use of the dodge move, hit spacebar/your jump key while hitting backwards, side, etc. It'll take you out of range of his swings as long as you're not against a wall. Between that and hitting him in the head I don't normally have trouble. If you really need to, a molotov or deo-bomb will take em out too. Worst case, aim for the shoulders and break/cut off his limbs, he's useless without them. Best he can do then it bite and that's easy to avoid.

I've honestly never understood how people find Thugs challenging.
It's all in your timing. Dodge backwards a lot, always fight them by trying to break/sever their arms, and whenever they do their roaring animation go crazy on them.
Yeah, wait for the roar if you want a bunch of free hits to the head. I only really have trouble with them if I get sloppy cause I'm just messing around or if I'm in a very enclosed space. But even then they're not too bad. It just takes a little while to get the strategy down right.
If you break/cut off their arms they only have a bite attack, which is extremely short range and does little damage.
The sound effects in this game are amazing
God damnit.
I got that mod that allows you to use Analog Fight mode with Mouse/Keyboard, but appearantly it's impossible to Accept/Decline quests with it active.

They can headbutt also.
can people please understand this:
You absolutely CANNOT get VAC banned for doing ANYTHING other than editing the game's memory while it is running or editing the game's DLLs. Even if you do get VAC banned for editing the memory or DLLs it will ONLY be for Dead Island, NOTHING ELSE.
You will NEVER be banned for simply editing the game's files (modding), and this goes for ANY game secured by VAC.
so tired of seeing completely false VAC fear-mongering everywhere

Why would they need VAC for a co-op game anyways, it's not like I'm going to get my experience ruined by someone with aimbot or whatever.
Maybe I want to have a blast using cheats with my friends?
You'd be surprised what you can do simply by editing the game files.
All my punches make the zombies fly 3000 feet and do 25000 damage.
I see the clusterfuck of spoiler tags and the giant arguments and I think "Oh god what did I start "
