Just completed Dead Island. Not really impressed with the
end boss
, but it was a fun game.
What's the program everyone uses to mod weapons and such? Never really had a desire until now so I don't know.
You can do it with a save editor me and a few others is working on, but you have to hard edit the weapons though, but you can edit the durability and mod pretty easily though.

Guns in this game are so... bleh.
Is there a main save editor people use and, more importantly, will this cause a problem multiplayer, VAC, any of that stuff?
Hint for the last boss if you HAVEN'T even figured it out yet:
[sp]There's a little rooftop generator thing that has ladders on both sides of it. Since the boss is classified a thug by game standards, he can't climb objects. Only infected can get up to your area, but you can quickly dispose of them before they kill you. Make sure you have guns with you, or else melee probably won't work(I'd stock up on guns before the fight, just to make sure melee truly doesn't work.)[/sp]
I was extremely not satisfied with this game. The difficulty was too hard. I found myself dying all the time, and because of that, I had no money to repair my weapons. In some parts though, game mechanics were well executed [sp]The run-jump across the rocks to get to the other lever with Ope[/sp]. I felt as if platforming could've been a great impact to a okay game.
What also disturbed me was the lack of ways to find exceptional/great weapons. The only way to find them was to either get a skill that improves chances or the lockpick skill. Without these 'exceptional' and 'great' weapons that don't break as easily, you're going to be strapped for cash until around the end of the game(in which enemies give you well over 70-1000+ $ alone.)
The graphics were just beautiful in my view. Not just because of the blur, but because it all seemed to flow. But however, there is a crappy rendering glitch which makes everything blurry if you turn around too quick or enter an area.
The gameplay could use a lot more tweaking than just "run here, get that, get a car, ride to destination" missions. I also found out that you can keep running while you're against the wall. In one mission, I had to enter an area in the hotel for a cutscene. I was low on health and I was almost dead. When the cutscene was over, I was stuck in the 'dead' position, in the air. Zombies ignored me and I couldn't move at all. I could swing my weapons, though. Something that also pisses me off is that there's no drift button on the cars, which means there's a lot of backing up/forwarding to do. I managed to actually get myself stuck in the most awkward position, which would never happen in real life, that my co-op buddy had to ram another car into me to get it out.
There wasn't a whole lot of story to the game, either. I couldn't really get into the game because of the up/down mouth animation that didn't even LOOK like talking. I get that there's a zombie invasion, but what the fuck caused it? It's CRUCIAL to know how it started, unless if you can make up for that in the story department(Like Left 4 Dead) It also peeved me that characters were introduced to your party at the snap of a finger, and you almost know nothing about them at all. Everyone's characters except for the main 4 and Mowen seemed really played-out and not even cool at all.
To be honest, this game deserves at least a 6.7/10. The difficulty learning curve is nice enough for beginners, but then when the game starts, the difficulty gets high. Playing alone is hard enough, since there's a lot of zombies out there- the game seemed to be designed for co-op more than singleplayer at all. I would suggest getting this game if you had the patience to die over and over again, most of the time, getting revived and then dying again because you spawned right were you were in front of several infected, which can take at least 4-5 bars of health per infected.
9.0 for me The only thing i hate was the story and the lack of guns

I agree, I really want to enjoy this game but I found the skill system to be unforgiving and the difficulty curve to be too steep.
How do you people manage to have that much trouble with money management? I still haven't beaten the game, but I'm on one of the last few main quests and I've consistently had $100000+ at any given time, since about the end of Act II.

It's random. Most of us had 100's of enemies swarming at one single time.

No, actually, it's not random at all. Enemy spawns are all pre-set and never change.
[editline]2nd October 2011[/editline]
Well, to be fair, they do change depending on what quests you currently have active. Like some quests will spawn boss zombies like Rams or Butchers in areas where there would normally be none, but once you complete those quests the spawns go back to normal.
My only real problem with this game is how a group of 3 infecteds is 50/50 dead or alive, all it takes is one of them being hyperactive and decide to punch you faster than the rest, and you're dead, it's not like you can swing your weapon, they interrupt your every moves, except the kick, which doesn't do jack shit when there's 3 of them, by the time you kick the first one, the 2 others are already back on their feet resuming what the last one did.
Other than that I enjoy the game, I wish it would rain on the main island though, I think the weather when it rains looks fabulous and very immersive in the ACT II, I wish it happened everywhere.

You know your arm-reach with a weapon is really far? If you swing before it hits you, you should be able to hit them square on the dot, effectively knocking it/them out. If they swarm you all side-by-side, that is.
Well yeah, that;s because the guidebook was made by BradyGames, they make HORRIBLE game guides.
i took all quests at p much the same time and im fine
then again i also dicked around at the start and leveled up twice before i did the second mission

I know that, and it doesn't work when they're in a line, you might hit the first, and the second if you're lucky / timed it really well, but the third? The third infected's just hear to disarm you while the 2 other recover extra-fast and tear you a new booty-hole
I think the thing with infected is that they telegraph what direction they are coming from long before they appear, for a reason.
You just have to get ready to take them down from a distance, maybe with throwing weapons or firearms.
If there are only 1 or 2 infected, then you can just let them get up to you and time a jump kick.
The only times I ever have trouble with infected is when they fucking randomly spawn on top of me and 3 shot me. Otherwise I let them rush me and a little bit before they are about to get in reach I 1 shot them with my ZD. [sp] I found that I had to put very little effort into killing the boss with my Zed's Demise. I just let him charge, side jumped and stabbed his shit. Procced my electrocution and then hit him 1 more time and he died :\ The boss fight was way too easy for me. Getting to him while having armored infected rushing me was way harder >:\ [/sp]
Now that I think about it, why WAS there a lack of facial animations?
The characters may have verbally expressed emotion, but their faces were completely void of any emotion what so ever.
OH man, the Director's Cut mod is fucking awesome. Makes Rams scary as hell because of their regenerating health. I was playing through with a friend, and pretty much the final half of the prison level was RUN FROM THE RAMS: The Game. Intense.

I can't wait until I get points into the back-stab bonus for Xian so I can go from 2 shotting Rams to 1 shotting them.
I rarely died in but that might be cause I mostly play co-op and as Sam B. As for lack of money, that's what the dupe glitch is for.
