Looks so much goddamn better than I expected, seriously! I don't think it's bad that the crafting looks like fallout since copying ideas and thing and taking it further never was bad!
I seriously hope they dont fuck this up.
Her legs look terrible.. surprised they can even hold her weight
Looks great, HUD needs some tweaking and XP points popping on your face should be toggleable.
I hope there is an option for no HUD at all, I want to run out of ammo without caution.
And I dont see this game ending with you just free roaming. I bet the freeroam is like Mafia 2, weather on certian levels ect.
When I looked at that gameplay footage, it instantly reminded me of L4D2, Far Cry 2, Dead Rising 2 and Dark Messiah. It is not bad, really it looks like something new and refreshing.
Can't wait to get my hands on, the only things that I didn't like is that the amount of zombies are pretty numbered, hopefully will there be more at once. And some animations of the characters looks slightly odd. Melee looks incredibly awesome though.
Old memes for achievments. :geno:
game looks good but there's too much console for my taste
Now I'm reminded of Borderlands, and how it looked gritty and serious to start with and then added XP popups and humor and turned campy. What happened the dark, emotional trailer, guys?
It'd be great to have a zombie game that was grittily realistic, where combat is dangerous and scavenging for supplies is more important than beheading the undead. Left 4 Dead started as a Rainbow Six mod- it'd be awesome to return to that sort of gameplay.
Left 4 Dead started as Rainbow Six mod?
Pretty sure gabe or some other dev said in l4d1's commentary mode that it started from a knife-only bot mod or something for CSS, not rainbow six.
Anyway, just saw the gameplay video. I think it's looking great, but I agree it seems like Borderlands with Zombies. I just hope for two things, one being able to shut the UI off because it's annoying, and two being proper mod support, but I doubt the latter will happen since most devs don't go the extra mile for it.
Either way, I'm still getting it. Gonna be fun.

It was in one of the old making-of videos, but yeah, the first playable concept for L4D was using a R6 game as a base with zombies added in- much more slow-paced than the final product.
The next prototype was then developed on the Source engine.
I thought it was a CS mod, not Rainbow Six?
Back on topic. This game looks good and meets most of my expectations. First of all you can't really expect it to be the dream zombie game, especially since we are just posting on a thread on Facepunch and not on their forums/website if they have any (well some of us might). It looks great graphically, and I like how the trees sway really well. Weapons are pretty cool, although as most of us are saying I wished it was a bit more realistic. HUD is annoying, let's all hope for a realistic mode thrown in.

You're thinking of a completely different game. There was a 4 player zombie game developed on the SWAT 4 engine, but it had nothing to do with L4D. Left 4 Dead was made out of modified CSS.
The one everyone's thinking of is Division 9, it never saw the light of day.
Not a fan of the HUD and UI, the XP shit popping up especially.
And the animations are pretty terrible (the bolt doesn't go back on the AK!)
but apart from that it looks good.
I like how she smashed the windshield after it got cracked.
They didn't do guns very good at all.
XP points? Im outtahere.

In what aspect?

Did you see the AK? The slide did NOT move back, and no shell was ejected.

Honestly how do you screw that up.

You may be right, it's been a while and I can't seem to find the video online.

It's not exactly ready for release, animations take time.
Also I hope this game comes out in the summer.

They still got 3 months or so to do the final touches.

Left 4 Dead started as a few guys playing Counter Strike vs a team full of bots with knives, pretending they were zombies. There was never a concept version on Rainbow Six.
I hope every drivable car isn't the same pick-up truck.
What happened to the really dark atmosphere in the first trailer? Thought this would be the first proper zombie survival horror. Just looks like a serious Dead Rising.
God damnit, this looks to good for my computer to run.
:crying:
My faith has been partially restored. My only real gripe is the XP and health bars popping up. But the combat looks great, and I like that the gore is less cartoony than Dead Rising.
I also love seeing zombies in bright, tropical environments. Reminds me of 'Zombie Flesh Eaters'.
I also like how we can kick zombies. It'll be funny as hell if it's like Dark Messiah, especially if they do the "bone-breaking" good enough, and not just happen when you use a melee weapon. Would be amazing to kick a zombie off a cliff and have his legs break from the fall and stuff, but I don't think they'll go that far.
