It's there, it just wasn't show cased as much as some people would have liked. You can see it partly in action when he swings his nail bat at a dead body and a layer of skin is torn off where he hit.
I'm not seeing it, the video moves too fast and everything gets obscured by blood. Can you screenshot?
I really don't have much hope for zombie games, they'll never be as good as you can imagine.
Judging from their cg teaser that made me feel like fucking crap, I thought it would be survival horror to the extreme. That fucking teaser man. Eugh.
I'll say this, from what I saw I actually liked it. It seemed pretty fun. They need to change the kick on the girl though, it looks like there's something a little off with it. They should also show off this weapon creation system of theirs, it looks kind of interesting.
Voice acting doesn't sound great on some characters.
Wasn't Dead Island the game showing the really really indepth body damage system? Like it goes through the flesh into skeletal structure for super realistic damage? To me it looks worse than Soldier of Fortune when it comes to the damage model. Like 'Hey I hit you with a baseball bat, oh look your whole arm fell off'. Bit confused.
I was REALLY looking forward to this, instead it seems we get some generic decapitation and health bars. Really dissapointed on that one.
Pay attention to the video, its there. Just not showcased.
Well it's not really there as they described it, I mean you do have health bars, and it's just not possible to behead someone with a fucking kitchen hatchet, well at least not in one blow. Well I guess zombies do have somewhat decomposed flesh already, but still it looks completely unconvincing, I thought the weapons would physically have to connect to to the body of the zombie, not *PLAY SWING ANIMATION*-->*DAMAGE ON ZOMBIE HAPPENS*. It's still gonna be a fun game but it could have been much more.
I'm just hoping that all zombies have the same/similar health so I dont have to shoot a weak little zombie 7 times in the face just to kill it and then shoot another zombie once for it to go down

Keep things different. [editline]27th May 2011[/editline] Just my opinion though
Actually it would be cool to have random health. Keep things different. [editline]27th May 2011[/editline] Just my opinion though
Also makes you prioritize more and select your target/killing order more carefully.
It looks like one swipe from a zombie does alot of damage, this means that if we do see a hoard of them, it will be a 'oh shit fucking run' moment. The gameplay only shown about 4 at a time.
Pay attention to the video, its there. Just not showcased.
As others have said, I was expecting to PHYSICALLY connect to cause damage, it looks like a cheap swing, then damage magically appears on that ROUGH area (and it looks simple at best even then).

I don't think no matter how optimized we could have graphics like that gameplay demo AND the deformation at the same time. Then again, the deformation showcase video shows "Normal", "Zombified", "Skinless", and "Skinless and Jawless" faces. Who's to say the deformation was real, like if you sliced their arm, a deep cut would appear?
Actually it would be cool to have random health. Keep things different. [editline]27th May 2011[/editline] Just my opinion though
I can see that working fantastically with items that can damage more than one target. Think about it: You detonate a home-made bomb in a crowd of zombies only to have it take down the weaker members of the horde that were keeping the rest tangled up. The same thing applies with a gun, you only manage to pick off the weaker zombies while the stronger ones charge you.
I don't even know why we have health bars, or "HP" in video games anymore. It's a left over fragment from old games back in the day of the arcade, as an obscure reference to when something will die using arbitrary numbers, because thats all arcades COULD do at the time. Just like Start screens. Seriously, we are to the point now where you can simulate someone's arm being hit and not counting twoards "-20HP" or something, but it actually physically effecting the performance of an enemy. Dynamic death based on how and where you kill someone, not because the game arbitrarily says the enemy should die because he has 0% HP left (even if the health bar is hidden, this is still done for almost EVERY game). We can EASILY do that stuff this day and age. The only game I know that does anything close to this is Dead Space, and even then it's only partially.
I tried to implement something like this in a gamemode I made for gmod (for players only though) and there was a major problem: people are too used to the standard HP system. Everyone was always confused why they suddenly couldn't walk even though their legs took a battering, or maybe they couldn't hold a big gun because their left hand was torn to shreds. I really wish a system like this would be implemented because Dead Space showed us that in practise it is an interesting game mechanic.
i had a dream where i was in this game it was a pretty good game and i hope that the actual game is as good as that dream was. it was kinda freaky too
Old gameplay with some new moments, 20 mins

You'd have to implement some kind of way to describe this to the player and let him have situational awareness beyond an HP meter that something is wrong with his body.
Nice going there not helping that woman.
The shooting part, from the looks of it, is played using a mouse. Other parts of the gameplay looks like its played using a gamepad. I'm going to cut both Thug's hands and let them dangling like on 13:41, and steam achievement being unlocked on 15:52

Badass cover art.
I don't understand why sprint even needs a bar. It's pretty obvious when you run out because you stop running... [editline]30th May 2011[/editline] Nice cover
Running shares the bar with fighting.
Stamina ?
