My main concerns have been with gameplay. I'm loving the concept of an open world Left 4 Dead meets Dead Rising. I just havn't been too impressed with the gameplay they've shown off. All the guy ever does when playing is throw the weapons at Zombies which could get really repetitive. It doesn't help that some who have had hands on with the game called its gameplay clunky. Here's hoping for the best. It would suck to be in developement for all this time to come out and flop.
I just generally don't like the characters so far. Xian just seems like a really generic and stupid stereotype (Why the fuck are you still wearing high-heels when running away from zombies) with a terrible voice actor with incoherent, repetitive one-liners. Sam B is just generally generic, and Logan is basically just Francis with a stupid haircut.
I dunno, they aren't terrible, they just aren't very great characters. Not to mention the fact that this game will probably become infamous for having the most deceiving trailer in recent memory. At first, I thought that there might be a chance that it will still have some kind of emotional impact somewhere down the line, but at this point, even if they try to have an emotional story or whatever, it's impact will probably be diminished by all of the corny one-liners and over-the-top crap that will take place shortly after the aforementioned story has been wrapped up.
Don't get me wrong, I'll probably still have a blast. I'm a sucker for neat little physics gimmicks like dynamic gore, and the game basically combines Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead, both of which I've had a blast playing with. It also has some interesting mechanics, it's just that the trailer was the worst thing they could possibly do to publicize their game. They knew where they were already going with the tone of the actual game, but they still made a misleading trailer that doesn't reflect said tone at all just to get more attention for their game, and that's just a dick move.
My one friend went to E3 and played Dead Island.
She said fighting zombies is a lot like an ARPG. Not really like the KF or L4D2 system.
This sparks my interests
the only thing that reeled me in years ago was the deformation, idgaf about the emotional bs
preordering asap

I tried to ask her more about it but she didn't really know how to explain it.
She did get to try the Wii U though <:
Well...saw real coop gameplay now and it's...not that good as I thought.
In fact that I live in Germany, I will wait until some tests say something about that game.
I don't feel comfortable with a full $50 preordering but I'll put in $37.50 if someone wants to start an arrangement with the 4-pack
Also, 7GB HDD requirement. They finally fixed the typo
I don't get the deal with this "Electric Machete"
Yeah, to be honest I am concerned about this game.
It is Techland has a nice enough reputation, but I think this game is going to end up being kinda mediocre.
Its because the first trailer was too cool
I think it looks great, and me and a few friends are going to play it coop as soon as it launches. I don't recall them ever saying it was going to be a "hardcore depressing zombie survival simulation" which is what people are getting disappointed over, and for some reason a cgi movie about a family dying backwards made people think this.

I'm probably going to buy this sooner or later too just because it's zombies, but I wanted an atmospheric zombie game and this is looking more and more like Dead Rising.
Don't get me wrong, I loved Dead Rising and its sequel but they really made the impression that this was going to be more serious. Since I've been following this for a few years I feel disappointed.

I agree.
This game looks great, but for me at least as MagicBurrito puts it, a 'hardcore depressing zombie survival simulation' that is open world and has 4(+?)player coop would be much better.
Just my opinion.
Still going to get this game though.
Not a big fan of the direction this game has taken.
It would be okay if they said it was going to be a somewhat arcady experience from the get-go but instead they released a sentimental trailer that hinted towards a much more serious than Dead Rising and L4D before surprising us with XP popping up your face and ridiculous weapon combos and respawning (need confirmation on this one).
Also, all the characters seem unlikable and cringe-worthy.

they pretty much said so with that CGI-trailer
I do hope the hud will be fixed a lot, either by the developers or via PC modifications.
That, and having the characters shut the fuck up, will make this game quite enjoyable I think.
a major game mode as launch date DLC.
wow
that's weak.
i'm okay with a weapon or some dumb cosmetic but this is too far

Has there been word on how much it will cost?
Or/And is it included in preorders?

Fucking day one DLC's on every game these days. It's pathetic really
Has there been word on how much it will cost?
I think I saw in a interview that they said the game mode would be like around 10 dollars
how is it day one dlc if it comes out 1 month after release? is day one a broad term for dlc that's announced the day the game's released?
it isn't day one dlc, it comes to the game a month after release, which probably means they've just planned it out
[editline]21st July 2011[/editline]
its like getting later DLC for free on pre-purchase, along with an item you get on day one
It's such a shame they don't have local co-op...
It's such a shame they don't have local co-op...
It would be a bitch to have your vision halved in a game like this.
This or skyrim? I CANT CHOOSE.
This or skyrim? I CANT CHOOSE.
You have 3 months to save up for Skyrim after this comes out :S
Do you get preorder DLC if someone preorders the 4 pack and gives you a copy?
The game looks good but it reminds me of Borderlands in that you're forced to play as a character you don't want to. I hated getting stuck playing as one of the 4 unlikable characters for no real reason, since it didn't effect the story. Would've preferred to just make my own guy from some basic options.
I'm sure there will be extra content afterwards, I mean at least this DLC isnt story related, its just survival mode.
I don't really see how you guys can instantly not like a character. I can understand not liking one of them because their playstyle doesn't match yours in this case, but the character themselves you've seen very little of, let alone don't know much about them minus what they were doing pre-outbreak. I can't judge any game character until the game is actually out.
