Oooohh I remember that.

isn't it a scarface reference
naw there's a hotel in Vice City you can go into, and the bathroom is all bloody with a chainsaw in it
thus, scarface reference. this one, I don't know
[editline]16th December 2011[/editline]

but in a totally different context

It's from a mission. You have to bust someone out of the jail cell by rigging the nearby police car with a bomb and detonating it next to the wall. The guy you break out is fine, not a scratch. But apparently someone else must have been in there with him, blown to smithereens.
That was always my conclusion anyway.

They interview some of these high ranking cartel underbosses and they are just 18-20 year old guys from favelas. You don't live longer than 20 years in the business. Everyone except for the lucky and the experienced in top of the ladder are just expendable mooks and probably everyone is addicted to the same stuff they deal.
Anyone else think R* kinda fucked up? Releasing the trailer in November and building a ton of hype and then...nothing. No cover story, no interviews, just letting the hype fade as new releases came throughout the month.
If they woulda launched a campaign in November, they would have had a great buildup. Follow trailer by an interview or a GI cover story for December.
Thing was in every GTA game the first missions were like you going into the game and driving around to your safehouse.
I wish that for GTA V, the first ever thing we have to do is not drive to our safehouse. I liked the Saints Row The Third feel of chaos and then after a long shootout, there's that drive to your safehouse shit and intro on things like saving, etc.
I mean for the first few missions of most GTA games, I'm like bored as fuck.

More like fly to your safehouse. With a huge-ass bomb.

Skydiving through a flying plane, not hitting any interior like a fucking boss! How about a sub-marine falling from the sky and you skydiving through THAT!

Tutorial missions in case you've never played GTA games before.
GTA IV felt like a boring tutorial for like 1/4 of the game [sp] Until Romans house gets burnt down [/sp]
It's kinda questionable how GTA fans tend to hate black gangster culture while at the same time glorifying "Mafia" culture even though it is about the same thing, the glam is in the TV series and shit.
I really didn't mind the gangsta stuff myself, but I think most of GTA's target audience is white and feels more connected to mafia/organised crime culture than to gangsta's driving in lowriders doing drivebys and stuff.
If they do bring back K-ROSE, I hope they get rid of Mary-Beth Maybell. She just wasn't funny.

FOLLOW THE YELLOW LINE TO ROMAN'S WAREHOUSE

some tutorial missons are needed, but yes, I think they should make something different for your first mission
I don't want to bump the SA-MP thread,
but can you play SA-MP with the Steam version of San Andreas? I really don't feel like picking the game up, i'll buy it on Steam though.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe you can.

No sir, that's their way of doing things, and imo it's much better than for example saints row 3 marketing where they bombarded people with trailers and whatnot couple of weeks before release...
Rockstar people are marketing gurus, they know their job...their next move will probably be new trailer sometime in january/february and the hype will be even larger

I agree. Mystery always keeps people interested.

I believe someone posted a way to play SAMP with the steam version in the SAMP thread. I might be mistaken, though.

Yup yup. With a franchise as big as Grand Theft Auto, only those who only choose to lose interest, actually do lose interest, until more news comes.

yes but you need a nocd
You can just downgrade GTASA to v1.
I'm expecting to see quite a bit at PAX East this year

This year? I don't think so. Please don't get your hopes up, I beg of you.
Hey guys, I put together a quick program that patches the Steam (3.0) version of the game down to version 1.01/1.0.
This uses binary differences, and I am in no way distributing the game files.
The readme file provides instructions on how to run it.
But basically you just put the gta-sa.exe file Steam downloads into the folder of run.bat, and you run the batch file.
It will then create a gta_sa.exe, which is the 1.01/1.0 version of the game.
This will allow you to play in the 720p and 1080p resolutions.
