Oblivion Lost was the old name for ShoC pre-2004 (before TES IV came out). GSC changed it after TES IV was released to avoid any confusion and reflect core changes in the game that happened around that time.

He wasn't asking for the history of the game's name though, he was asking why people keep talking about OL, and when people say OL, they mean the mod (99.9% of the time, anyway, if they're talking beta they call it by the build name usually), not that.
