It's actually pretty easy to do a day-trip into the Zone, plus if you use [url=http://www.tourkiev.com/]Solo East Travel[/url], the company I went with, you can get cheaper rates if you go in a group! Airfare to Kiev is gonna be pretty expensive for everyone not in Europe, though.

Just so you know, I tried that shaders mod. It made my performance worse on everything but Static, which stayed roughly the same.

Looking around in TFW, I've started noticing those green anarchist-ish symbols all over the place. They're located everywhere with teleporters/space anomalies.
In the [sp]bloodsucker village, where the merc squad is trapped,[/sp] the houses have the anomalies in them, which teleport you to other houses. Both houses like this also have radiactive basements, which you can access climbing through the windows.
In Limansk, there's the same symbols on a house which has that old "Guest from the future" reference teleporter in.
Oh, and is it just me or can you hear screaming/crying/sobbing/whispering when you enter the area with the [sp]merc corpses[/sp] in [sp]bloodsucker village[/sp]
On an unrelated note, I don't know why I love Loners and Mercs so much. Since SoC was released, I had a soft spot for Mercs, and was always sad knowing they were hostile 99% of the time. Now that I'm playing TFW, I've come to love Shovel and his gang.

Taking the army warehouse and taking a well deserved rest at the original SoC Freeplay merc start area. The fog at the time made the Chimaera attack that happened 5 minutes later pretty horrendous, but we all got through it.

Nothing, really. It may not look as good, but it's still not a bad thing. So long as you're running it fine.
Plus, I had problems with Stalker and framerate when I was using a 470 for it. Couldn't run it on anything other than medium with static lighting, low and high practically made it unplayable.
Stalker's a bit like the magical lamp. You need to cuddle and gently brush away [sp]fondle[/sp] the dirt before you can get what you want.
"Stalker is a bit like a woman" would have been more fitting, come to think about it.

STALKER Shaders MAX with the full performance preset. Should give you at least 20% more fps.

I wish I had saved the first crash that provided me with details, hopefully I can get it copied right eventually.
Anyway, right when I select the dialog to head down to Jupiter with the gang, the game crashes when it triggers the cutscene. I wish it would CTD but nooo, it has to hang-on until I kill it with the task manager! It basically said that there was something missing, but it wasn't an actor value. I'll keep on crashing my game until I can get that damned error message.
Man, I've been lurking this thread since around 2007/early 2008 I think, I feel like a should post more... but I never really have anything to say.

I've looked there, and true stalkers know that the objective icon on the minimap only looks like it does in that screenshot when you are on the same level as the objective.

Any thoughts? I can vaguely understand what it is asking, but got no clue what it would take to solve. Is it referring to one of the squadmates in the cutscene?
man, Paradise Lost is amazing but is there any indication of a English translation of any kind being made for it?
Clear Sky play through with a texture overhaul mod. I don't notice the difference.

well, it seems that the RMA mod English translation seems to work with Paradise Lost since PL does use RMA as a base for its story content - all of the dialogue is pretty much in perfect English
