I'd Wonder what it would be like if STALKER had a co-op mode? Or AI companions, would it just completely ruin all the atmosphere, knowing that someone had your back, rather then being alone in the big bad zone? Just a thought.
I like mods that allow you to "recruit" A.I companions and think that it would've been great if they had included more missions where you can go with A.I buddies like in Call of Pripyat where you get to put together the team for Pripyat (would've been even nicer if you could've really had more variety on [sp]who to pick up for the Pripyat mission since there is literally no choice if you want the full team. They even tease you with the possibility of recruiting Noah / Mitay but nope, it's only the 4 pre-defined guys, 3 of which don't even have any real requirements for recruitment in the first place[/sp]) As for co-op, it would be a godly option in the perfect world but if the game is designed around it, the single-player would probably take a hit because in SP they'd probably give you an A.I buddy that'd be either near-useless and immortal or would die really fast. Either way, it would crush a great deal of the atmosphere.
They also taunt you with picking up the nicest of Mercs, Hatchet.I really do wonder why so many mercs are such dicks. You'd think they'd just be like regular Stalkers considering most are doing hired jobs anyway.
Oh yeah, forgot about Hatchet. As for mercs being "dicks", I don't think they are dicks, they just have a different agenda they operate under. Besides, the mercenaries aren't a faction, they're independent groups hired to do missions, some of which require the killing of witnesses or taking out targets. Most think lone stalkers as "good guys" but basically we're gunning down ill-equipped and unmotivated conscripts by the dozen in the early game without even thinking about it twice. There's no "good" or "bad" in the Zone really, just conflicting ideals. The mercenaries in SoC are all Wolfhound's merc outfit. Wolfhound is a cut-throat or at least wants to give off an impression like that so that his reputation alone would make people think twice before crossing him. Then there's the Yanov / Zaton mercs who have been hired to fetch shit from the X-Labs. Again, that's hardly anything we're morally objecting to since that's exactly what we did in Shadow of Chernobyl. In fact, most "loners" are mercenaries to some extent and the player acts like one in all three games. I liked how you could actually be a part of a mercenary team depending on how "The Hit" went.
Yeah, i agree, most of that atmosphere comes from that you against the world feeling. The sense that you are living in an (almost) inhospitable wasteland, characterized by rips in physics, time and space, and of course, dangerous and terrifying mutants. I think that stalker is a game unique in that way, i've never seen a game quite like it. Also, a L4D style multiplayer where the goal is to reach an artifact and bring it back while other people controlling mutants try to stop you would be hilarious.
Call of Pripyat is killing me. With my specs I can run Crysis 2 and Skyrim on med-high but I have to run CoP on darn Static Lightning or it stutters like hell. By the way, is there any way to make CoP use more than 2GB RAM? LAA doesn't cut it.

I felt bad, but a blowout was coming and they locked me out of the blowout shelter. The only way to get them to open up was to shoot somebody outside.

I get this error in SGM 2.0 right when it triggers the cutscene for heading to the Pripyat tunnel. I can vaguely understand what it is asking, but got no clue what it would take to solve. Is it referring to one of the squadmates in the cutscene?
Am I a cool enough lurker to be in the stalker bros pic? I requested some mod links a few times and well I like stalker :v:
OGSE why must you be a pain in the ass to work with?
http://www.moddb.com/mods/cryzone-sector-23/news/release-a-beta-version-cryzone-sector-23 are stalker-related crysis mods allowed? because i wet my pants when i saw this pop up in news node

I'm downloading right now, it says there are no seeders, but I'm getting pretty good down speeds. Edit: Never mind, it dropped down to 1.0 Kb/s
So I beat Metro 2033 today and while I did enjoy it, all it made me do was want to play STALKER
So I beat Metro 2033 today and while I did enjoy it, all it made me do was want to play STALKER
I played Metro once. Ranger hardcore. 90% through the game. Run out of gasmasks. Game over. Never playing that game again. Also why are they making the bad-ish ending canon for Last Light. The one where you [sp]let the antagonists(forget what they're called) live[/sp] would have been so much more interesting.
Which mod is better in your opinion guys, SGM or P.R.I.P.Y.A.T.A.N.?
It's the ending the book used.
I read the book, and the book ends with [sp]Artyom realizing the dark ones are trying to help humanity, he goes to call off the nuke but it's too late, the dark ones are destroyed and humanity is doomed.[/sp] E: Oh derpiddy do daw, I read that totally wrong, nevermind everyone.
I read the book, and the book ends with [sp]Artyom realizing the dark ones are trying to help humanity, he goes to call off the nuke but it's too late, the dark ones are destroyed and humanity is doomed.[/sp]
This I would have been okay with. But [sp]"huh? They aren't trying to kill us? WELL FUCK THAT SHIT I'MA NUKE DEM SONS A BITCHES!"[/sp] At least that's what it felt like to me. When I watched it on youtube. Because I ran out of fucking gas masks. Why...
I read the book, and the book ends with [sp]Artyom realizing the dark ones are trying to help humanity, he goes to call off the nuke but it's too late, the dark ones are destroyed and humanity is doomed.[/sp]
[sp]I wouldn't say the humanity was doomed. I haven't read the sequel book, but apparently people aren't any the worse for the Dark Ones getting nuked. Also, as long as Hunter's alive, he and his dirty jacket shall stand an unending vigil![/sp]
Now that I think about it, if they weren't going to make that ending have any meaning or importance, then I personally think it shouldn't have been there. I mean the whole being a nice guy and doing everything right just to get this special ending that makes you feel awesome would be great if they didn't make your effort worthless in the next game. I would imagine that characters will refer to what you did, and during that I would probably be all like "NO I DIDN'T WHAT THE FUCK MAN". Kinda the same feeling when you know a character is about to fuck himself over in a movie and you're yelling "NO YOU FUCK DON'T DO THAT OH GOD PLEASE SOMEONE STOP HIM I KNOW WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN WHY CAN'T YOU HEAR ME AAHHHHHH" the entire time. theycantakeourautomergebuttheycannevertakeOUREDITS: Oh look I'm in the wrong thread. I've been thinking, even though the 2033 gas mask system fucked me over and stopped me from progressing, I think the same idea could be applied to stalker and work out a lot better. Mainly because it's open world and you essentially have an unlimited supply, with traders and all that.
So many spoiler boxes. Is there a decent English translation for the Metro 2033 book? Or is it still kinda sucky?
So many spoiler boxes. Is there a decent English translation for the Metro 2033 book? Or is it still kinda sucky?
I got a translation right here that's only got one or two typos throughout the whole thing. Think I got it from Amazon.
So many spoiler boxes. Is there a decent English translation for the Metro 2033 book? I had a PDF of the whole thing, don't know where its gone to though.. Also, the gasmasks were no problem - just sprint less. Sprinting significantly increases the drainage of the filters.
I'd like for STALKER to have the gas masks. I liked putting on my headphones and hearing nothing but Artyom's choked breathing as I'm dodging mutants
is it just me or is the cryzone torrent petering out a bit im at 66% and it stopped all of a sudden, down to 0.3kb/s i think whoever had the full version that was originally seeding, stopped seeding too early [editline]6th January 2012[/editline] yep looks like all of the peers currently seeding/leeching are stuck on 66.3%, max whoever was seeding the original version stopped, and now nobody can access the game

I was hoping to download this tonight before leaving to head out to England and Ireland. I guess I'll have to download on my *sigh* college's network. It really does make 56K look fast sometimes.
I'm going to start a game in TFW. No prizes for guessing what faction I join.
I'm going to start a game in TFW. No prizes for guessing what faction I join.
defiance maybe even duty?? you seem like a duty person, everything about you screams "i love duty and hate those fanatic anarchists!"
So I was attacked by a snorsk, I somehow ended up standing on his head and he jumped into a bloop-bloop. I feel like a god.
