So, I played a lot of Stalker and abit of Clear Sky, is CoP honestly worth getting?

It's certainly one of the best polished of the series. Vanilla first time is a smooth ride IMO.

Do it. You will be pleasantly surprised.

CoP is honestly my favorite one of the bunch. Of course that is just my opinion. You should play it for yourself and find out. =3
So, I played a lot of Stalker and abit of Clear Sky, is CoP honestly worth getting?
Definitely. But you should finish Clear Sky before moving on to Call of Pripyat.
Call of Pripyat is great, but it's the exact opposite of Clear Sky. There's a lot more focus on exploration and doesn't have hectic firefights all the time so if you go expecting it to play like Clear Sky it'll feel a bit "empty". To get most of the atmosphere, save inside the designated "safe hubs" only. It'll make the outings to the Zone feel actually a journey into the unknown, mashing the quicksave key every five feet will make the experience disappointingly easy.
I never completed CS due to the amount of firefights and formatting etc etc and losing my discs, so the less firefights in CoP sound like more my thing, how's the atmosphere compared to the original?
Well it's less jolly than Clear Sky but less of a "horror"-themed than SoC. It's good in the sense that it doesn't come off as a bit corny with prop corpses and such everywhere but a little disappointing in the sense that there's very little of that absolutely delicious terror in underground sections. More than Clear Sky, sure but not like in SoC. Telling you anything more would be kind of spoilerish.
I will say that Call of Pripyat manages to be really creepy at times but it's most of the time that feeling when you're completely alone, moving through the streets of Pripyat and you start to feel like the windows of the building have eyes and they are some kind of living things watching you. You are alone but you're being watched by something . Sometimes that something wants to hurt you. Don't quicksave and don't avoid the night.
I can do it. :v:

C'mon guys, we gotta get the ball rolling before pg.34

Where are the tools in SGM? I refuse to pay Owl's bandit-loving ass 10k for the location.

The location is randomized somewhat so just pay him, then reload an earlier save after you mark down the location.

played sgm, and found a "wish" artifact that completely kills off all radiation. Goes for 50000+ RU at Beard; can't wait to see what the scientists give me for it.

And it'll end up being just like People Soup. A bunch of empty maps with nothing in them.

I found one of those and sold it to Hawaian to for the 50k price. How much did you get for it from the scientists? I might reload a save if it's a lot more.

I think I got ~68k with research assistant, could be wrong though.
jesus christ sgm is fucking impossible. im on the part where you have to destroy the renegade base with the night stalkers. the entire squad got killed almost instantly and everytime i duck in cover i get raped by grenades. i also dont have any medpacks, radiation drugs or bandages. all of which i need. who designed these missions anyway? the only way i got past the snork part was leading them into an anomaly.
edit: even with the "no grenades" option turned off in the settings, they still keep on lobbing 'em away

Man up or reduce difficulty temporarily.

I'd use the Zaton start, pretty sure Dark Valley was meant for freeplay.
I used the Dark Valley start, got through alright
Any updates on the GSC thing? Last I checked they were still updating their twitter.

I noticed.
I love this thread so much. Its one of those only threads that never have fighting between the members on this thread.
Even when there is arguments, its about something in the game, and no one is ever really angry.
This thread is awesome.
We don't fight for the same reason Monolith never have infighting

It's rather pretty, but you really feel alone a lot of the time. you could go for a while without seeing another STALKER. I personally like it. adds to the isolation factor of the zone.

Your avatar...I can't stop watching it. That was from one of the Gundam's right? They controlled it by walking around an omnidirectional treadmill in a black spandex suit?
COP adds new mutants but they're a pain in the ass because they're bullet sponges
COP adds new mutants but they're a pain in the ass because they're bullet sponges
wasnt the only new mutant the Burer? Yeah, they're bullet sponges, but they are pis easy if you just knife them.

The Chimera was new too.
Just finished CS, it's frantic as fuck, and less atmospheric, but nonetheless I like how it's distinguished from the other two.
Does anyone have a download link to TFW 2.9.5 beta... Not the ones like Megaupload but a link where I can pause the download and resume it when I want. Yeah it's 400mb I know... but I'm capped. :v:
In CoP I don't like the Snag mission because of the bandit part. The good roleplayer would walk over and hand over a shit ton of money and expensive weapons. The (debatable) fourth-wall breaker will shoot them down from a distance without decent reason. (Saying because they're "bandits" is just a cheap justification) Thoughts on this part?

I shoot people just for being bandits if at all possible. Scumbags.

Can't you pause a download from any source?

Yes, it's from Mobile Fighter G Gundam.
