STALKER Series Megathread: All news we get about STALKER 2 are bad jokes and concept art

You could try running to where Strider is, there's a bridge to hide under.
Where's that?

On the bottom left there is a swampy area with road going over it. Under the bridge is the safe spot.
Ah, okey. Going to try for that. Thanks. Also, I got another question. How do I get to the chimera/where is it? Because I went there at night and it's nowhere to be found, and not on day either. The exact location where it supposed to be is a sewer grate(at the ventilation complex. But I can't use it or anything.

Just hang around for a bit at night and it'll show up eventually.

I think it turns up at 9 or 10. It spawns just in front of the gated entrance.
Any idea where I can find an exo in TFW?
Any idea where I can find an exo in TFW?
Well, either you need to level up until Loner traders sell it (if they do, I'm not sure), or join a faction and capture resource points until they sell it.
Thanks, going under the bridge solved it. And I also filled that stupid chimera full with .45 shots.
ok so the question with most agrees was 'when is it released' which is a silly question as I have no idea
so the second top one was 'is degty still the main character'
yes
Welp, playing PreSky (which is pretty good), and I join freedom. I go to the garbage to steal back some checkpoints from duty. What I didn't notice however, was the time, so it was close to sun down.
So I decided that i'd clear out 2 or 3 checkpoints and head to the flea market to stay there for the night.
What I wasnt suspecting however, was a giant attack on the vehicle graveyard (which we had in our control), and by huge attack, I mean a mix of renegades and duty, about 20 of each.
So in total, im facing off around 40 guys, with only 4 of us. We hold out okay, till there was about 20 guys left. We had only lost 1 man, but he was the best equiped, with a exoskeleton and a LR300.
Then i noticed i had no ammunition left, and there was a pack of boars moving towards us aswell. So with 3 guys left, plus me, with no ammunition, were facing off against a large mixture of duty and renegades, and around 5 boar. In the middle of the night.
eventually I took to sprinting towards where a majority of the dead renegades were, to collect ammo. Some badass freedom guy with an SVD just starts shooting anyone that tries to sneak up on me and i manage to collect around 80 AK rounds, which I'm thinking would probably be enough.
Eventually a squad of about 4 freedomers show up and tear shit up, and demolish absolutely everyone who shot back.
It was a glorious battle.

Does that mod restore the "A-Life" into Clear Sky ? Further, does it remove the annoying mutant markers from the PDA ? How is the Freeplay content if you don't join a faction ?

Well that sure was a wasted opportunity (meaning that we knew that already,Degty is a good main character)
yeah i thought you kinda wasted that chance a little
silly stalkers
Just downloaded a revolver mod for SOC.
Hit a soldier in a watchtower in Agropom from miles away. Any way I can lower this?
Miles my ass. Stalker levels are 0.5 kilometers long/wide at maximum.
Will there be whirlydogs?
This is of utmost importance
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Lost Alpha will be the best SoC mod ever.
I hope.

Assuming it will have better economy than vanilla.
Stalker suits 30 000 roubles? NO MAKE IT 300 000, MAKE CANNED FOOD 1000 ROUBLES
kinda like NLC standards IIRC

Wouldn't it be more reasonable to reduce the money you get instead of making stuff retardedly expensive ? Also, the weapon upgrades and somesuch will probably eat your money quite fast and if I recall correctly from that old russian "mod reviews" Youtube preview thingy you can play cards (and lose your money as well).
If only you could have a bit more complex faction relations so you could have things like factions hiring mercs and desperate loners to kill you if you have pissed them off but you could use a "Snitch"-like character to pay a weekly tax to keep the price off your head.
Then you could buy access to NPC-looting-proof stash boxes and to Barkeep's VIP quarters (where you can watch tv and drink with him).
In short : restrict cash flow and make things that have you spend that money at regular intervals instead of making everything just really expensive.
dont you think its strange in ShoC and Clear sky, when you hold your mouse over the item, and lets say, it says the item is worth 7000 rubles. Then when you go to a trader and open it up in the trading box thing, its suddenly worth 20 000 rubles.
I dont understand that, could anyone explain to me what thats about?
It's the base price of the item but you get paid/priced more / less based on how your relations with the traders is and whether they actually are interested in those items.
So basically if the artifact's "base price" is 1000RU but Sid only gives you 500RU for it while the dudes of Freedom / Duty / Loners / Bandits can give you 750 / more because of your standing with them and / or holding the membership card.

same in all the stalker games
basically all items in the game have a base 'cost' value - 7000RU in that case
traders never pay that or sell for that, their prices are a multiple of it, i.e. 0.8x 7000 to buy, or 1.5x the cost to sell it.

Good point, I feel that's what SGM did. It not only gave you stuff like the elite medkits and ultra quality ammo, but also made the upgrades much more expensive and that technological strengthening thing which I have no clue of what it does, but regardless it takes a lot of money to get those upgrades and that's what's important.
Plus in SGM you had something to do with all those completely broken down zombie makarov snipers

When you're getting a weapon upgrade I think you should lose your weapon for a certain time.
how the christ do I un-do misery's fucked up FoV changes?
It's just not cool when you make your barrel longer in a single click.
ok thank god i fixed the fov
When you're getting a weapon upgrade I think you should lose your weapon for a certain time.
Ehh... On the other hand you'd have to keep switching your main weapon which would be okay but that reminds me too much of the SGM's misguided attempt at realism that had you bring "spare parts" to Cardan every time you wanted something upgraded and while it seemed a little atmospheric at first it was kind of dumb that you had to bring in loads of AK-74's to repair a Barret.
Besides, aren't most upgrades simple things like just taking apart the gun and replacing one / two parts with different quality ones ?
Oh and also, Is 50kg weight limit quite realistic? With the vanilla sprinting speed I think not.
It's reasonable to expect a soldier being able to carry that much, especially one selected for the Military Stalker program and you can't sprint very far in CS / Call of Pripyat if you're carrying 50 kg.
Perhaps upgrade paths being more restricted, or upgrades having more disadvantages (e.g Not just money) could be implemented.
IIRC Thorny said that Redux 2.0 would have Clear Sky's upgrade system with advantages and disadvantages.

Kinda, but even those take up to hours.

SGM and Redux are both attempt to maintain a balanced economy, but in completely different ways. SGM gives you lots of everything, with increased artifact spawns and a compound interest feature (and to a lesser extent cash off corpses). The creator has attempted to balance this, firstly, by making everything much more expensive, especially early on in the game, and by adding extra challenge in the form of Alpha Squads, more mutants, and random anomalies. This works to an extent, but more so in general roaming than the quests. Incidentally, a lot of the quests in SGM feel very poorly thought out and playtested. As an aside, hordes of co-operating mutants are fun to fight a maximum of once. People would do well to remember this. SGM also has a number of arbitrary events which occur in missions and detract from the playing experience.
Redux, on the other hand, makes everything far cheaper, but scarcer, as supplies are generally hard to just loot off corpses. Unfortunately, the random weapon spawns mean you can pick up a G36 (possibly lightened) fairly early into the game, which leads to a feeling that your power level has peaked early on (which is a bad thing). It's practically impossible to find the sweet spot for scarcity of supplies and ingame economy so that enemies can carry a realistic amount of supplies without the player assembling his own personal armoury within a day of starting. Ultimately, in a game that revolves around killing lots of people, this is always going to be a problem. One thing I think SGM does do right is mutants dropping sellable body parts - it makes fighting them less of a chore and drain on resources, since fighting for fighting's sake is, imho, not that fun.
It seems than in CoP, the devs tried to balance the peaking early problem (High-Tier Assault Rifle and Exo before you've even left Zaton) by making it impossible to get tools until you get to Pripyat (which wasn't much fun), and making mutants total bullet sponges (again, irritating as fuck). Boars went from 1 hit kills with a Sawn-off in CS to 4 hits or more. Perhaps limiting Nimble's supply, moving him to later on in the game or something, would partially solve the problem. Meanwhile, upgrading your weapon is a satisfying experience, and imho, a good RPG element (because it is), but leaves weapons unbalanced. Perhaps upgrade paths being more restricted, or upgrades having more disadvantages (e.g Not just money) could be implemented.
Just thinking aloud.

Hey, wasn't there gonna be a Freedomer in Redux called Walrus?
yeah there is, i didn't realise there was a Walrus already, i must rename him then I guess

also you'll be pleased to hear most of those things you talked about are sorted in v2.0 etcetera
Dare to say, I've been enjoying Misery. A lot.
With every other big game-changing mod (save maybe Lurk) to any of the STALKER series; I've gotten rich and set for life usually around mid-way through the main quest. And at that point, the game gets rather boring once I have an exoskeleton and some insane amount of weapons and ammo.
With Misery, it feels really survivalist. Yeah, you get a bit asthmatic once you load up beyond about 25kg, but hey, I have a mild case of exercise-induced asthma so I'm calling it realism. Assuming that the weight units are kg, it makes a bit of sense though. You're not going to lug around the 80-120 some mods let you and sprint around like a fucking raptor on crack. In Misery, I carry a few drugs, one gun and one side-arm with about two magazines for any excursion - any other mod and I'd be carrying a fucking arsenal. You also have to eat (somewhat a bit too frequently, but hey) to keep your stamina up, regardless of whether it shows an icon for hunger or not. I was at least able to carve out a good living by doing side-quests like a motherfuck, and selling extra artifacts and unique weapons that I didn't need.
I think the stamina and low money gain is what turned a lot of people off from Misery. They just up and thought "oh hey, 35kg is max weight, I'll load up to 35.0kg and will run Olympic marathons no prob."
Oh, and for a quick example of my inventories between games - these are all about halfway into the main quest.

Either Complete or SGM? I don't remember, was taken a solid year ago. It's titled "Call of Pripyat: Get out of here furry."

All that money came from some bug if I remember, gave me a shit-ton and I went wild with it. I do still remember it being after I had a fucking exoskeleton before leaving for Pripyat.
