Everyone always talks about Nords, Khajits, Argonians and High Elves. No love for Wood Elfs :(
I feel like I'm the only person in the world who likes Dunmer.
I feel like I'm the only person in the world who likes Dunmer.
My first character was a Dunmer Mage. Then I realised, around level 30, that Destruction was shit, and I started using a Claymore. Fuck yeah.
if you go and do that one quest where you have to [sp]find some evidence in that solitude party for the chick who stole the jurgen windcaller horn[/sp] you can find a set of [sp]thalmor armour[/sp] which acts as a disguise, they wont attack nord/breton/argonian/kaajit/imperial until they get up close, wood elves and dark elves can get closer, and if you're a high elf you can just stroll around, not even sneaking, and the others will say things like "why arent you at your post, justiciar?" [sp]player.setrace highelf[/sp]
You could do that!? I just ran through it and tried to kill people after a lot of failed sneaking attempts.
Oblivion was saved by having solid guild quest lines. Skyrim has your character doing randomly generated dungeon grinds when the 30 minute long crawl from newcomer to leader is finished. (spoilers: you become the leader of every guild you join)
The solution is to not do random quests? Ever since I got two or three random quests only to find every since one was a stupid fetchquest that took me across the entire continent to save some guy from "whiterun" who somehow ended up north of solittude, I've not bothered with them. It wasn't belivable at all and the rewards were terribly implemented. The game is much better when you don't do radient quests. Its not like there isnt a lack of things to do anyways - there are tons of non-radient side quests you can run into in the wilderness and cities, not even counting the guilds. Skyriim is so much better than Oblivion it's rediculous. The only advantage Oblivion had quest wise was that the quests they had were actually meaty, and they didn't try and throw a million quests at you at once. But the premise behind Skyrim's quests are much more interesting to me. I couldn't get into any guild questlines in Oblivion just because the pacing was terrible at some points (see: opening Mage's Guild quest to join), and the storylines were rather poor (war against necromancers? read: a high elf. Okay??). The stories and premises are so much better in skyrim, but the meat is terrible and the pacing is too fast (lol win questline in a couple of hours if you JUST focus on that and fast travel). [editline]3rd January 2012[/editline]
I don't even understand why it wasn't released in november, surely they used it for the majority of the games content anyway and so it would have been ready then... I guess they had to make small changes or something.
There's a lot of cool backend this time around. Such as, theres going to be a brand new system put into steam itself called the Workshop that'll let you install, view and rates mods right from Steam. There's also all the documentation involved with a new engine release, and they might be just wanting to focus a lot of time on making good documentation, which can take a long while.
I like having a lot of quests in my Journal, they help me figure out what to do after I have been running around in town for 3 hours.
I feel like I'm the only person in the world who likes Dunmer.
Dunmer are the most bad-ass IMO. Only issue is that they were mostly bad-ass in Morrowind. Then got turned into little girls in Oblivion, which made them just seem stupid to a lot of newbies to the series. So they don't quite have the bad-ass factor they did before.
Man, why's everybody in Markarth so edgy about my companion? He's only an undead briarheart. Geez. As if that wasn't bad enough they just hate my nifty new mace. I'm never gonna get a wife.
I've heard you can find a marriage amulet thing in Bleak Falls Barrow. Any specific location inside? I hate revisiting empty dungeons with no idea where to look.
I've heard you can find a marriage amulet thing in Bleak Falls Barrow. Any specific location inside? I hate revisiting empty dungeons with no idea where to look.
You could get one in Riften at the Temple and the dead guards at Kynesgrove have one.
I wish the russian site had more english stuff though, can't understand shit in there. Oh well there's a French site who's been translating good english NV/F3/Oblivion mods into french for a while now, hope they will open a Skyrim site. For now I'm running the game in english so I don't have weird two-languages-at-the-same-time issues. There's a chance an amulet can spawn in the small tower with bandits in it right before the barrow. It's all random though.
The weirdest thing just happened, I was tasked to pick up Harralds sword from Balimund in Riften, he wasnt at his forge for some reason, and it was mid afternoon, I decided to follow the quest marker, and it led me to an alleyway behind the temple of Mara, there I found a very confused fox running back and forth along the small pathway, the quest marker was pointing at the fox! I killed the fox with two quick strokes, and the quest failed.
I've heard you can find a marriage amulet thing in Bleak Falls Barrow. Any specific location inside? If you can't find it just go to Whiterun stables, take a carriage to Riften, go to the Tavern and talk to the Priest of Mara inside about marriage, he will sell you an Amulet of Mara for 500 gold.

Fuck yeah.
My stagger incinerate and 450 magicka would like to have a word with you. And thats its current status. 100 destruction 89 conjuration 49 restoration and some other stats that I don't know of. Only reason why I would change to a melee would be if I got tired of getting 1 shot by everyone, but I can just blow them to smithereens with destruction and conjuration.
I've heard you can find a marriage amulet thing in Bleak Falls Barrow. Any specific location inside? I hate revisiting empty dungeons with no idea where to look.
I went there just yesterday and found nothing but the people/monster/undead I had to kill before. I just got one at Riften from the high priest at the temple of Mara. And then made a lesbian marriage between my female magician dunmer and Mjoll the Lioness after bringing her sword. We met by "accident", there was no choosing involved at all... :v: [editline]3rd January 2012[/editline]
Its inside a chest I think towards the end. It's the Skyrim equivalent of the G.E.C.K for fallout 3 or the construction kit for Morrowind/Oblivion
It doesn't fit the aesthetic of the game very well.
That's a complaint I have about the armors in this game. There's very little aesthetic consistency between them, which makes switching to higher tier armor sets a bit shitty since you're basically ruining your character's 'look'. For example, Iron and Orcish look very rugged, and Steel and Steel Plate look more refined, but they still all share a rather 'dark age' aesthetic, but then Dwemer armor makes you look like a space marine, Ebony and Daedric make you look like you're from a JRPG, and let's not even begin about Dragonbone.

So I want to make a mage, what magic n shit should I focus on? I know I can't rely on destruction but that's about all of my knowledge about mages.
