But i'm bored of playing efficiently :c I want to stomp around in heavy armour and emit lightning like a Tesla coil, more fun than trying to squeeze every ounce of efficiency out of the way I play (like calculating the weight to worth ratio of loot, bleh)
Get SkyUI, it has buttons where you can sort lists different ways, such as by weight, by value, by value/weight, by stolen or not stolen, etc.

Actually hadn't noticed it could do that, interesting. Nice, that's one annoying chore automated and gotten out of the way. [editline]25th January 2012[/editline] Slightly off-topic, but my head is spinning, fingers trembling and i'm having trouble keeping thoughts in order. Probably far too much caffeine. Huh, according to the Wiki, increasing one's magicka and magicka regen rate yield the same boost in regeneration, plus with increasing magicka that means a bigger pool for spellcasting. Into the bin with Mordekai's mask, and this might mean i've been talking bollocks all along about spellswords not being viable without hax-induced enchanting skills. I'm going to lie down for a while until I can think straight. [editline]25th January 2012[/editline] "Enchanted items reduce the Magicka cost of Destruction spells, from 1% to as much as 29% per item. It is possible to completely remove the Magicka cost of Destruction spells if the total of Fortify Destruction enchantments are equal or superior to 100, for example with 4 equipment pieces with -25% magicka." how the fuck did I miss that. Problem solved. Just need to spam enchanted items til 100 enchanting. Makes me feel like an exploiting milk-drinker, but w/e
Dayum this armor is sexy as fuck. [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/TESV_2012-01-25_15-49-05-86.png[/t]
Looks cold.
That's kinda gross with her belly.
You can also do a thing like that with perks by getting the "*skill level* destruction" perks and the "augmented *element*" perks.
The magic mod i'm using has destruction damage and magicka use increase with each rank perk (not a very significant increase in magicka use, but a very useful increase in damage)
I hope someone makes a mod that increases the effectiveness of the actual spell you are using and perhaps the element too. So if I were to use sparks all the time until I receive lightning bolt they would both be equivalent to each other in term of dps, maybe sparks would do a bit more dps because of the shorter range. Then I can choose if I want to focus on sparks or bolt or both since they are just as good and the elemental boost makes me focus more on using that actual element being able to call myself a lightning mage. It just feels like sparks becomes completely useless later game even tough it's my favorite spell.
I was approached by some dude that wanted to sell me some skooma in the mountains. He wore nothing but ragged pants and... dragonplate boots...

The tier mastery perks increase damage for all Destruction spells (the element-specific ones are the same as before)

I don't understand those who say "THE SECOND YOU CAST A DESTRUCTION SPELL YOU MIGHT AS WELL INSTANTLY DIE". Combined with Impact, you can easily spam spells which let you completely shut down a target at any range, and you're able to quickly switch between targets or stun multiple targets at once if you're good enough. If not, then the Slow Time shout makes it very simple to cast as fast as possible. I slowly leveled up enchanting throughout my playthrough as a mage, and my spell costs were pretty nicely balanced with acquiring higher level ones. While technically the damage doesn't scale, I'm level 50 and I haven't had any problems so far. Maybe it would take a little while to kill things at level 81, but that doesn't make it an incredibly inferior playstyle. Also, I have SkyUI and Simple Borderless Window, which means in order to play the game properly, I need to run a batch file that keeps SBW running in a background, close Skyrim, then start it again through the SKSE launcher. Sometimes I don't want to dig through my Steam folder to get these mods working. Is there some way to simplify this process?
Balanced Magic, I think it's called. By default it adds a magicka cost penalty for using armour, but there's an option to disable that. [editline]25th January 2012[/editline] automerge broken, fall back D:
So I hire a room in the tavern in Riften and use the bed, as soon as I wake up again I turn around and see an imperial guard running out of the room and going downstairs before walking through the door and vanishing. I don't even know...

Isn't that in the OP? I guess I'll go with the destruction only, there isn't much information on the improvements.
So it would seem, hadn't noticed.
Why are people so desperate for heavy armour when playing mage? If you die instantly, you're probably playing the wrong sort of character for you. Before you run into a room to murder shit, scout. Sneak in, look around, analyse threats, and set up accordingly. Exploit thin corridors, see a bunch of melee beserker dudes? Find a corridor, lay down a nice rune, channel them through while burning them and running backwards, ____flesh if you don't have much room to move about. See enemy mages, no real melee threats? Bound swords, conjure some kind of atronach, get choppin'. Mages are about planning, not tanking.

Mages are about planning, not tanking.
Oh for fuck's sake, because it's fun. I can play as a standard mage, and indeed have a character like that, but I simply find the combination of heavy armour and magic to be enjoyable. The one major thing I love about the Elder Scrolls games is the ability to mix and match class traits, rather than having to play the rigid definitions of the big three found in virtually every other RPG. I could have a warrior that carries no armour, but conjures all the armour and weapons he needs. I could have a mage that uses archery for offensive capability while surrounding himself with summoned minions. I could have a thief that sneak attacks with a goddamn warhammer and sneaks around in heavy armour (albeit with difficulty/enchantments). It's this freedom of choice I so dearly adore about the series as a whole.
Besides, mages with heavy armor have always been viable in TES anyway... it's called being a battlemage (though usually battlemages also use swords or axes or something similar).
A "friend" of mine plays as a mage and uses only enchanting clothing. He doesn't even use protective/defensive spells, not even wards.. He saw my scout/recon character and called me a "fucking retard" for using light armour. :downs:
You are. Real mages weave robes out of their massive beards.
I'm still waiting for Patch 1.4 on the 360 to start playing again, one of the fixes opens up a new playstyle I want to use.
I'm still waiting for the CK and awesome mods to come out before playing again. I'm building up that craving to play until it's really high.
Am I the only one who prefers Imperial warriors over Nord warriors?

Looks like Iron leggings and gloves, Topless fur armour, and some kind of hood.
Whoa, what armor combo is that? I never found the Bosmer Animal friends power that useful until recently. I had just done the DB wedding quest in solitude and was running from about 15 guards. Shadowcloak of nocturnal? was still charging so i ran into the farm outside Solitude and used the power. A swarm of horses chickens and goats ran out and attacked the guards while i escaped.
Ever since I finished the main quest I get this line constantly. It's like Nerevarine all over again. They even say it the same way as the trailer.
I never got that line, only the usual "You have saved our land and our souls from a great evil" yadda yadda
