Anyone know of any mods that increase the general challenge of the game? I've grown very bored of winning every fight on the hardest difficulty setting, and having tons of useless money.
PISE, Skyrim Wars, Challenging dragons.
I cannot wait until someone mods in NV's hardcore mode. That'll give me reason to play again. It's a bit odd it doesn't have it, considering even Minecraft has hunger.
I was riding around when I saw some Kahjits walking, I talked to some, and traded, and one of them made a remark that reminded me of you guys " The more we walk this place, the more empty it seems"

Wastelands are supposed to be empty. not full to the fucking brim with unlooted grocery stores and perfectly functional laser-wielding robots every fifty feet.)
Just made a Khajit bandit character, I'm going to be doing the Thieves Guild, Stormcloaks (don't care about their racist bullshit, I already did the imperials bidding and want something new) and the Dark Brotherhood. One question, how the hell do I get accepted into the Dark Brotherhood questline? I've heard about killing certain people or contacting Aventus or whatever his name is but don't know where to start looking.
Then you aren't playing for long. The whole fucking world is empty. Have you seen the cities? 5 quest people, 10 guards, 2 random events.
but the scripted argument you walk in on in every town makes the game feel so alive and immersive
Then you aren't playing for long. The whole fucking world is empty. Have you seen the cities? 5 quest people, 10 guards, 2 random events.
The cities are an entirely different subject, I can agree with you about them being barren, but I also agree with Sector -- to a point. I can definitely understand thinking there are too many dungeons, tombs and forts and shit - I've spent hours walking around clearing shit only to find I hadn't left the mountain range I began in, it doesn't really make sense that all these random cults, sects, bandit hideouts and ancient tombs are co-existing as neighbors peacefully. But I just love how much there is to explore and find, and it really wouldn't be possible with out said clustering.
I'll have alot of boots and rugs thanks to all these Argonians and Khajits
The city of Markarth doesn't approve of me. I have a very high bounty and I was just wondering if they would ever let me in their city again without attacking me or arresting me for conspiracy and murder.
I made the Sovngarde sky my new wallpaper. If it was animated, I'd do nothing but stare at it all the time.
PISE, Skyrim Wars, Challenging dragons.
"Wars in Skyrim"? You mean that shitty little mod where the guy literally just increases spawn rates for all monsters everywhere, spams them everywhere and gives them the ability to fight against each other? And then has the nexus page look like this: "SKYRIM WILL NEVER BE THE SAME" "ONE WORD: IMMERSION" "PLZ VOTE FOR ME I NEED TO GET MOD OF THE MONTH ^_^" What a huge fucking disgrace to legitimate modders everywhere by throwing this piece of swill on the nexus and then touting it like he is some master of the craft with his massive ego. What a pretenious attention whoring fuckwit, he's exactly the type of modder I hate the most, one who only mods for the "glory" of it and public attention. And the sad part is? Nexus community regularly support and encourage such people regularly, where most communities that aren't full of inbreeding rabbits, wouldn't have such people last a day. Imagine if that guy did a gmod mod with the same scope and effort put into it, and then made it all flashy and told everyone to vote for him for the MOTY awards on Moddb.com. He wouldn't last a second. EDIT: Oh lets not forget that he adds a new sequel to the mod every other week because it makes it seem more impressive. Nice job!!! [/rant]
Unrelated ramble: After, like 350 hours of gameplay I think skyrim is better than oblivion (IMO) in just about every way, but the one thing that probably irks me the most is the guilds don't feel like guilds at all, it's retarded. Each one is just a questline and that's it. You do the questline and then bam, you're the guild/group leader. Oblivion did the same crap and it really cheapens the experience. Would be super awesome if you'd actually have to be a really experienced mage to be the arch mage. In morrowind you'd need like one magic skill at 80, and two at 40 or something to be eligible for the arch-mage position; and it was a good system. What's worse is I am almost certain that they (pete or todd) said there would be guild requirements. Maybe "requirements" meant making sputtering fart sounds with magic to get into the college of winterhold.
Think we'll see rubbish like that in the Steam repository?
Anyone know of any mods that increase the general challenge of the game? I got that mod and started a new character, and had the most terrifying journey from Whiterun to Winterhold ever.
"Wars in Skyrim"?
Yeah, that one. Use the Dark Age or Dark Rainbow. And like Bloodgasm said, Don't Fast travel.
"Wars in Skyrim"? And then has the nexus page (ry [/rant]
Given that the CK hasn't been released, Wars in Skyrim is pretty damn impressive for what it is. I guess you could say that it "just increases the spawns" if you feel like oversimplifying it, but it's a bit more complex than that. Some examples: Spawn rates and enemy types that can appear are region-specific, bandit leaders now spawn with better armour than their comrades, new NPC classes have been added (one of them being Berserkers that attack with their fists), some creatures now come in varying sizes and strengths and have more of a tendency to travel in packs, the chances of "radiant" events like meeting those drunken partygoers is increased, power attacks now have a delay after being used, increased fall damage, and several other changes. I'll contend that asking for endorsements and File of the Month votes is in poor taste, but Nexus is just a different sort of culture than ModDB and the users really don't seem to be annoyed by it. It's like getting angry at a japanese person for watching anime and calling them "weeaboo".
Damn, Skyrimnexus is down, been wanting to mod Skyrim all day :(
[del]Sorry if this has been posted already but whats the skyrim beta?[/del] nevermind
I want an Elsweyr game bad. Has a lot of potential for varied enemies, locations and races (notably Khajiit variants)
Alfiq Khajiit will be the bane of everyone's game.
Alright. My game's volume is unusually low even when I turn the speakers all the way to maximum. What's the deal?
Alright. My game's volume is unusually low even when I turn the speakers all the way to maximum. What's the deal?
Try turning up the values under [AudioMenu] in your SkyrimPrefs.ini in "C:\Users\Dexter\Documents\My Games\Skyrim" "fAudioMasterVolume" to be more specific If that doesn't work try this,
One way around this problem (which I had myself) on Windows 7 is to go to 'Playback Devices' (either by right clicking the sound icon in your systray or via control panel), then select your speakers/headphones/whatever you're using and right click for 'properties'. Then go to 'Enhancements' and check 'Loudness Equilization' So that's Playback Devices, Right click your speakers, Properties, Enhancements, check Loudness Equilization. This should significantly increase the volume in Skyrim.
[editline]26th January 2012[/editline] Also just stumbled upon this whilst googling, not sure if it's been talked about here before or not, but Dwarves in Skyrim

Hahaha what the fuck.
I'm thinking on this build for a character, anything else I should add/take away? http://skyrimcalculator.com/#70064
I'm thinking on this build for a character, anything else I should add/take away? http://skyrimcalculator.com/#70064
Too much Smithing and Enchanting, they take away all fun from the game.
Too much Smithing and Enchanting, they take away all fun from the game.
It's a shame daggers don't count as swords, maybe I can find a mod that gives daggers a perk in the one-handed tree.
*snip* misread the whole thing.
