A mod that adds caravans that are routinely raided by bandits would be amazing.
Turn it to 0 (off) using the FXAA GUI tool?
Not exactly, the FXAA overlay is not what is causing the haze/contrast issue, it is the bloom that is created by the ENB post processing. You need to disable the bloom in the enbconfig.ini file and then set the value for "Original post processing" from false to true, to re-enable the bloom generated by the standard game.
Hell, I might just overhaul a new config to try and use more standard post processing while using some of what enb has to offer.
Been working on the config a bit and by changing just 2 values I've half fixed the issue. The haze is completely gone and darkness is a more true black. Problem is, the contrast is completely fucked. I have to completely redo all the values in the config to get it to work. Thankfully I've now learned what almost all parameters do.
Retweaked it some more, re-enabled bloom but lowered the levels quite a good bit and that seems to fix the issue completely. But now I need to find a way to get the original post processing to worth with it so I can get things like Night Eye to work again.
Uploaded the most recent version, tree shadows aren't pitch black but the actual haze is gone. Grab it here

By now you're probably wondering what the Easter egg is. It was something a soldier had said while hitting me. He said, "By the Gods, we've been at this for hours! Kill me already!"
Seems that if you remain in combat for a long time, the NPCs grow annoyed with you. Well played Bethesda.
I am going to do this tomorrow and so help me Talos I will make you look like a horker by the end of the day if this is some trolling bullshit.
If your Ebony armor is legendary that's the highest it goes
True, but Ebony armour Legendaried at 100 Smithing won't be as good as one that is Legendaried at 200 Smithing.
snip Fuck my internet
I was discussing with a friend of mine a few nights ago about what Skyrim might be like with a different system associated with it's main quest. And while I like what we came up with, a lot of people play Bethesda's games for everything but the main quest. So I was wondering what people would think.
In general, what we settled on was a system similar to Dead Rising. (A system I believe is under-utilized in RPGs.) That is, for the main quest and side quests you have a time limit to complete them. The reason for adopting this system is because it adds a little more urgency to them (there's now a way to fail,) but it doesn't remove the player's choice of not participating.
For instance, if you decide to forgo heading to Whiterun to ask the Jarl for support in Riverwood, a dragon would actually attack after a certain amount of time. (Say three or so days.) Not incredibly cruel, it gives you plenty of time to find your bearings but carries consequences for doing nothing. (Like lost side quests or dead NPCs.) (Though, narratively, if I were Alvor, if no troops came after the first day I'd have gone myself to get support.)
Now, the lost sidequests thing would seem like a deal breaker for a lot of you, so we had to come up with something to fix that. So instead of having sidequests in Riverwood, it would be replaced by one quest where you would have to help salvage or rescue stranded folk in the aftermath of the attack. (In Riverwood.) Though, of course, to keep going with the system, even this would have a time limit on it.
So, what happens if the player completely avoids the main quest altogether? That's actually a difficult question. Having a game over seems lame, [sp]even though the Dragonborn should be the only one able to defeat Alduin, and Alduin's whole deal is to "eat" the world, how could there not be a game over if the dragonborn doesn't stop him? Having Alduin able to be defeated by normal means, even if it forces the Stormcloaks and the Empire (as cool as it would be) to work together, would really make the so-called "world eater" look like a real chump. We toyed with the idea of forcing the player back into the plot, like Tullius or Ulfric discovering the dragonborn and forcing them to defeat Alduin, but it seemed too contrived for a game like Elder Scrolls.[/sp]
We finally settled on [sp]Alduin's defeat by the hands of a united Skyrim, but at heavy losses of the Greybeards, the main force of the Empire and Stormcloaks, as well as others. I mean, there have to be consequences. As well as all that, we thought it might be cool if, due to the lack of much military force or control in Skyrim after the battle, the Aldmeri Dominion would step in and take control. (I confess, I'm not versed in the lore that much so I'm not sure that's how it would actually go.) But we ran into another problem...this new ending is more compelling and provides a stronger narrative base than if the player actually participated. It's not good when you get a better ending if you DON'T play the game.[/sp]
I guess, in general, what adds to RPGs or plots in general is the ability to fail and multiple endings. But anyway, we did more on the plot itself but I figure this is already way more than what anyone would want to read. Was just hoping to hear some thoughts, thanks for reading.
But that'd be impossible because [sp]Dragonborn has half of Alduin's soul so Alduin can't really die (reason you didn't eatan Alduin's soul after killing him) and is the only one really capable of killing dragons (without him eating souls they'd just resurrect)[/sp]
Or something like that.
The system wouldn't work, dead rising isn't a RPG. If something like that was in elder scrolls, if you want to do most of the quests, you wouldn't even be able to explore anymore.

It's kind of hard to take this seriously considering he's a metalhead who hates all popular culture. The only actual complaint I could find in here was that you can't start the game out being good at something, which is true but it literally takes 3 levels to get a skill past 30 if you specialize in it. I started the game wanting to exclusively use one-handed weapons, and by level 4 my one-handed skill was past 30 and my two-handed was still stuck back at 15. I think it's good that they don't force you to commit to a build before the tutorial is even over, and it in no way forces you to relinquish playing a class.
Not really the same thing he was talking about, and the actual romantic part of the relationship between Alyx and Gordon is really just a background thing that's barely even touched upon in any of the games. There's maybe two scenes where she flirts with Gordon and one where Eli quickly jokes about them.
There is more to it but I'm not gonna bring it up because this forum dorks out over Half Life enough already.

How? I'm not sure side quests would be under the same scrutiny (at least until after you accept them,) but the point of the system was to introduce consequence for in-action in an attempt to add urgency. If you want to do most of the quests, then you can do most of the quests. If you want to explore, then you could do that too. But instead of pausing the world in that regard, things continue.
Okay [sp]the Jarl of Whiterun suggested having a peace conference between the Imperial legion and the Stormcloaks but I haven't joined either side yet. Can I still join a side and do their questline after the main story?[/sp]
I was planning on doing most of the side stuff after the main quest line.
I'm confused, do you work for Bethesda or something?
No, sorry. What I'm posting about is purely hypothetical, just something I was discussing with a friend and was curious for more input.
Though, out of curiosity, why would you ask that? (It sounded like an insult at first but I'm not sure now.)
If you read your previous post without having read the first line, it makes it sound like you're talking as a developer. My mistake.
Oh...that's actually very nice. Thank you.
Okay I think I fucked up my game anyways
[sp]I got the main quest to talk to both leaders for a peace conference but I can't speak to Ulfric because I started the quest "Join the Stormcloaks" so he just says "I believe Galmar gave you something to do so go do it". Problem is I want to join the Empire instead so I don't want to do that quest[/sp]
Help, what do I do?

[sp]If you don't start either side's quest at all and just proceed with the main quest as normal you should be okay.[/sp]
[sp]If you don't start either side's quest at all and just proceed with the main quest as normal you should be okay.[/sp]
No the problem is that I DID start one side's main quest but I can't just abandon it but I don't want to complete it either because I don't want to be a Stormcloak.
Ulfric won't talk to me until I do it though.

Well, if you can't load your game...[sp]then it might be possible to do the first Stormcloak quest but then not take any oath or whatever afterwards. I don't actually know if there's an oath afterwards though since I haven't done the Stormcloak's side yet. But as far as I know it's possible to defect even after you've taken the oath so either way you should be able to be Imperial.[/sp]
I have a weird suspicion I did a horrible job explaining that, so sorry if I did.
Try talking to the imperial recruiting guy ?
OR that, yeah. You should probably try that first.

Try talking to the imperial recruiting guy ?
You can also just do the quest as normal and then at the end don't agree to the oath, then it will say that you failed the quest. And you can be an imperial.
Also even if you do join the stormcloaks, if you do the next quest which is the jagged crown one. You can just take the crown to the imperials instead and then you can join them.

The first half of it was mostly bullshit (though it was funny), but I think he raises some good points about half way through the video; after the lockpicking rant.
There wasn't any particularly good reason to not have an optional class creation, and that "style" sort of sets the tone of every problem with the game... skyrim's main problem is its too geared to "jack of all trade" type character, and there's not enough depth and expansiveness to each overall archetype of character. Still like the game more than Oblivion overall though.
Still, morrowind and daggerfall hold special places in my heart because they feel.. bigger than skyrim or oblivion. Not necessarily in terms of map size, but everything in them just has a lot more comprehensiveness and freedom; at times it seems to me that DF and MW are running laps in the deep end while skyrim and oblivion are splashing around in the kiddy-pool.

There's no limit, you can upgrade it past 100 by stacking items and potions. It's just slower.

Overall though I tend to dismiss the idea that RPG's need to fit into a certain mold, or genre even. I could care less if Skyrim is defined as an adventure game and not an RPG because it doesn't have classes or attributes, in the end it's about the experience. Skyrim and Oblivion are incredibly immersive and beautiful games to play, and despite being a much truer RPG, Daggerfall is fucking torturous to play today, and Morrowind as well to a lesser extent.
In the end, the issues surrounding class, attributes, perks, leveling, are all so insanely mundane and far removed from what makes the game fun. Skyrim's biggest problem is the largely botched guild questlines, which that guy didn't even touch on in his review because he was so pre-occupied with the definition of an 'RPG'.

As I said, I wasn't referring to size. I'm more referring to inorganic/abrupt/restricted/unbalanced skill and attribute restraints, as well as other general technical nuisances such as the inability to climb onto rooftops and hop the city wall.
Ive decided to log everything I do in character of Skyrim in a notepad "journal", written in the style of the journals in the game. Its actually kind of fun.

That tends to be my gripe too.
I wish the good elements of both styles could exist, but every game they refuse to do that. They'll make the graphics or the environment better or make the combat more organic, or make "X game mechanic" better, but in turn they'll nerf something else or remove some degree of freedom.
Seems you can't look at the full feature list of any particular TES game and go "wow, this all makes sense and looks awesome" there's always some "what the fuck, why do they need to do this?" element that stops each game from being absolutely perfect. It's very frustrating.
