I can't even finish the damn quest. Apparently the body was supposed to be moved to inside the morgue, but it's just laying on the ground, and I can't even talk to most of the people I need to, like Viola.
You need a wanted notice of the murderer in your inventory to talk to her.
I don't mind that. With guild quests at least it means that you aren't saving the world for Generic McDefault then being hated on by Miss Bland because they're completely unrelated. I don't feel as though any quests are being forced upon you. All the quests where the quest giver initiates the dialogue with you can easily be ignored. Take the whiterun "In my time of need" quest, for example. If, like you said, you don't want to be bombarded, Bethesda would have to make it that the quest would not initiate until you the character speak to them, which goes against the quest because the dialogue you hear suggests they're not meant to be in there. It makes it nicer to think that you're being seeked out, like someone who was looking for a bounty hunter to help them would do. It's not a case of the world stops until you speak to someone, the world feels a little more alive. Even moreso, [sp]I enjoy Skyrim's quest system[/sp]
I shouldn't have been so black and white about it. I do enjoy a lot of aspects about Skyrim and I'm sure when TESVI comes out I'll long for the good old days of Skyrim. In My Time of Need used the immediate introduction thing well and it fit with that particular quest. But on the other hand there's no excuse for me joining up with the thieves guild five minutes after walking into Riften. If anyone remembers a quest called A Shadow Over Hackdirt from Oblivion, that's what I'm talking about when I discuss side quests. We need more quests like those.

I feel like I've pretty much done all there is to do in this game, I think I've done almost all the quests and discovered most of the marked locations, I know there are unmarked ones but those are usually just small caves with bears in them. I feel like it should have lasted a LOT longer.

Repeat.
Why is the only disadvantage to draining your stamina bar completely is decreased weapon damage? It should stop attacking altogether
What system did you play it on ?
Console, otherwise I probably wouldn't be complaining.
How the fuck do I even START Blood on the Ice?
How the fuck do I even START Blood on the Ice?
Walk onto a guard and a bunch of people in Windhelm standing around a murder scene. Happens after you enter the city a few times.
I'd be 100% okay with this game if only I could permanently resurrect any npc in the game. I mean, I took the time to level up conjuration, I should be allowed to have a little fun with it!
I would have to spend hours searching the game trying to find a more trivial lore violation.
It's not even a lore violation when you consider that one of the definitions of "man" is "adult male", instead of "human".[sp]And to be even more technical, "man" means "hand" anyways. Take that, English language.[/sp]
Console, otherwise I probably wouldn't be complaining.
But its the same game, mods don't count as they're not actually the game.
But its the same game, mods don't count as they're not actually the game.
But it's a Bethesda game. By this point they know the modders are better at making new things and balancing gameplay than they are themselves.
But its the same game, mods don't count as they're not actually the game.
Toppings are pizza either, but it's a shitload better with them.

I just don't get the sense that they actively seek for ways to re-invent their titles or excel in innovation the way some developers do. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's just my intuition speaking.
each elder scrolls game has been pretty radically different so i don't know how you could say that.
It seems to me like they're less like they're different for the sake of innovation and more that they're different because of current demographics.
What is the meaning of a radiant quest?
It seems to me like they're less like they're different for the sake of innovation and more that they're different because of current demographics.
Yeah I mean every new iteration in any franchise is going to be largely different because it has to be. Obviously Skyrim couldn't take place in the same map as Oblivion did, there's just a basic checklist of things that have to change between titles, like game world, graphics (to an extent), characters, etc... I know Call of Duty pushes this line but there's a difference between features that have to be changed and features that are changed out of the interest of innovation. Radiant story is an example of innovation though, so I'm not saying the game has none. I just feel like there's a lot more room that Bethesda doesn't feel the need to take advantage of. And the fact that they actually took the effort to recognize how good Oblivion's guilds were, and then actively do the exact opposite of that for Skyrim is worrying.
I just found out that Kagrenzel is the best dungeon in the game
What is the meaning of a radiant quest?
Basically it randomly generates a quest through rather simple interchangable parts, like it'll say "Go talk to X so he can tell you do to Y" the first time, then next time it might say "Go kill Z so you can find the map to the treasure held in X". Kind of clever, but it needs a lot of improvement if it's ever going to be more than a simple novelty.
dwemer ruins should be renamed to falmer cities
dwemer ruins should be renamed to falmer cities
Nordic ruins should be renamed to Draugr Boogy-woogy-woo Funtime Scary Mazes.
It seems to me like they're less like they're different for the sake of innovation and more that they're different because of current demographics.
the demographics between morrowind and skyrim haven't really changed all that much. if you ask me morrowind had a lot of unnecessary shit and bethesda totally saw that and tried to improve on it. the hardest thing for the elder scroll's developers are to look at what they have and say "do we like it because of nostalgia or do we like it because it's good?"

Skyrim is basically an action FPS game with "attributes"/skills (fast-paced somewhat realistic combat, grittier graphics, more real-world influences on character/environment design, less stats and gear to worry about). Oblivion was an awkward middle ground. Definite difference in demographics there. It's like the difference between DA:O and DA2.
