Its more of an accuracy buff for extended bursts I find. It is fine if you are using single shots, but past 2 or 3 it becomes way too inaccurate.

chances are you are not aiming good enough, because the damage it deals is incredibly high and it has near 100% accuracy
i sometimes even use it more than the thumper because it owns airborne targets hard

Use the thumper! Take people down with a thumper hit or two and use the assault rifle to finish them off. Hitscans are weak in this game because they are easier to use than explosives.

God I love this game. Feels like there's a lot more skill to it than modern shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield.

Yeah but with explosives you either have to do a lot of tracking or time it right to hit them on the ground. Hitscans don't have this weakness. And are impossible to dodge.

That's kind of the point - the ranger and the soldier are extremely similar and it just comes down to personal taste.
As wraithcat said, hitscans are easier to hit with since they travel instantaneously; great for killing people mid-air but are weaker because of this.

On the other side of the coin, its extremely frustrating to be playing as a class like juggernaut (no hitscan weapons) and have your health constantly whittled away by an assault rifle from someone who's flying around.

Bella Omega is easily my [U]least[/U] favorite map, with Kabatic a close second. Sad really because Kabatic was my favorite map in Tribes 2. In Ascend both maps seem to exacerbate any skills differences between teams making the game feel more unfair than it really is; I can't explain why, it just seems to be that way.
I wish we could design our own maps.
High speed flyby melee kills are the best kills ever. Next to blue plate specials of course.
Dont get me wrong.but the hi-command client needs some serious fixing.some time validating does not work,installation get corrupted and many other problems.

Played my first game of this a few days ago, it was really fun and I got a couple of blue plate specials to boot (by the end of that game I was just [i]starting[/i] to get the hang of shooting such fast moving targets
God dammit, removed all hi-rez and hirez stuff from registery and all files, but when re-installing it again says "Failed to start the Hi-Rez Studios Authenticate and Update Service".
I pulled off a Blue plate special in my second match ever.
And did I saw Lewisdacool.

When one team is composed of Rank 18+ with every defense imaginable, and the other team is rank 1-12, constantly getting flags stolen, and can't seem to recover them ever, and it's the same thing match after match. That is a problem. The game may not be "pay to win" since you are able to unlock everything, with the amount of time it takes, it might as well be a pay to win game. Don't get me wrong, I'm having fun when playing it, but the unlock progression speed is ridiculous, and if your team doesn't have anything unlocked, you will likely lose.
My first game was met with a triple-kill and the game-winning flag steal.
I'm loving this game so hard right now.
Had a twenty minute game where I held the flag for ten minutes (three 3 minute ones and 2 30 second ones), and was the only with flag grabs. Despite staying relatively close to the base while skiing (10 seconds I could get there) we lost 0-5.
