After searching the forum for a while, it would seem that there isn't much information. What I was able to find is that you get about 4 tokens per minute +/- some depending on how well you do (usually + some, though not much). I got that off of this post from their forums:
Alright, so I recorded the amount of tokens vs time for a number of different wins I had today, just then. 5:40 minutes, 21 tokens, joined at 20 minutes (as in timer said '20:00'). Around 222 tokens per hour at this rate. 8:54 minutes. 34 tokens, around 226 tokens per hour at this rate. 13:29 minutes, 53 tokens, joined at 21 minutes. Around 235 tokens per hour. 16:46 minutes, 65 tokens. Around 232 tokens at this rate. 21:51 minutes, 87 tokens. Around 237 tokens at this rate. As you can see, the average rate of tokens is actually closer to 230 tokens per hour, which decreases in short games, and increases during long games. Not sure if wins or losses affects token gain, all of these are wins.
Source So for a 9800 token class at 4 tokens per minute minimum, you need to play for 2450 minutes or about 40 hours. This is slightly off due to things like "First win of the day" and whatever bonus tokens you may earn during a match. In the end it doesn't really matter which mode you play. The amount of bonus tokens you get for having a high score doesn't really make that much of a difference. Whether you play TDM or CTF, you will get about the same amount of tokens at the same rate.
Anyone else play the Tribes 2 soundtrack while they play the beta?
I don't like this system too much, I should be getting more tokens than some guy getting 1,000 tokens a match.
That's the idea. They want you to spend money.
The price of classes actually used to be around 15k tokens, but they reduced it. Even so, just because there's a way to obtain the items in game, if it takes 40 hours of straight gameplay just to get 1 thing, I personally think there's a problem.
I think in its current state, it is fine how it is. Sure it takes some time to get 9800 tokens, but after picking up the Juggernaut and the Pathfinder, the slog does not seem as long. Even then you have each class to level up. I have accumulated around 5000 tokens on top of the pathfinder, infiltrator, and juggernaut, and I honestly feel it is pretty good for a F2P game. The intended per hour rate is 300 and combat does factor in slightly. I suspect it is a combination of the player being a little sub-par, and the system needing a little more tweaking

Any ways to get into the Beta, aside from buying it/signing up and waiting?
Gah I don't understand how people are so good at Juggernaut. I just tried playing him but he's so slow and the jetpack does so little I can't avoid anything. I did get a few lucky long range shots with the mortar though. Also I just had 2 matches in a row where I got over 100 tokens. Both of them lasted til the time was up.
I liked it on Facebook and got a key. Awesome.
I wish we had construction mode like in tribes 2, shit was so cash. Like the first garry's mod.
I fucking love this game, I can see myself sinking countless hours into it. However, kill stealing annoys the fuck outta me.
Just played it for the first time. I like it a lot, shame I can't get many kills and the team is minding their own business instead of defending/capturing the flag. [editline]18th December 2011[/editline] By the way, can someone give me a quick rundown on the story if there is one?
VP735-FD284-0CF34-F5488-605E5 Add Numidium while you're at it so I have some people to play with.
What determines how many tokens you get per match? Because one match I can play extremely well, lots of kills, and keep the flag for a majority of the round (Team Deathmatch) and only get about 50 tokens, then the next round I'll only do "ok" and end up getting like 60 tokens or something.
It's probably like in Global Agenda. I think it looks like this in GA: Time x Combat Rating x 2(lose) or x 4(win) = amount of tokens

i have a pretty bad game i get like 60 or so tokens, if i have an average (where i'm normally 1st or 2nd on the scoreboard) i get around 100, and sometimes i have an inanely good game where i can get like 120 tokens
I was playing Ranger just as a class to use to drive vehicles with, and I forgot how effective that grenade launcher was.
I bought Jumper and I absolutely love it. Feels faster and more mobile than Pathfinder and the crossbow is a really good weapon too.
I wish we had construction mode like in tribes 2, shit was so cash. Like the first garry's mod.
I used to play the shit out of that back in the day, so awesome.
I played with Bart today (Dev guy) and he seemed pretty cool, he didn't talk too much though.
Also, the little thing that converts energy to momentum that jumper has is the best thing ever.
Also, the little thing that converts energy to momentum that jumper has is the best thing ever.
It doesn't seem to helpful to me.
It doesn't seem to helpful to me.
When you cap a flag you'll find out it's way more useful than anything else.
When you cap a flag you'll find out it's way more useful than anything else.
I just tried it again in training, It's helpful but I think it could use a bit of a buff, especially at higher speeds.

That feel when you upgrade a turret and get team switched just afterward...
That feel when you upgrade a turret and get team switched just afterward...
I really feel like there should be some accolade for having a turret you've upgraded getting a kill. Like, it wouldn't even have to be as much credits as an assist (something like 50-100) but it would still make upgrading turrets appear more meaningful, especially since you could see how effective your turrets are actually being.
All these random disconnects from the server makes me want to punch a blood eagle baby.
First time i have seen that badge :o (The Slayer) [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/649874477888307222/E03DC7823BCCDAFB5DF2C21BA6453385F41018D5/[/t] The road to eng is taking so long :( I think im missing 2k tokens, i'll probably end up getting VIP after christmas though
