So I finally got the Infiltrator, but after using the spinfusor for so long I can't hit anything that's moving with his guns. :v:
The thumper needs a bit of a nerf - It just feels too OP.
its like a spinfusor with less range and an arc its not even that great
its like a spinfusor with less range and an arc its not even that great
It's better in close quarters though, since it reloads faster, and has a significantly faster projectile speed.
its like a spinfusor with less range and an arc its not even that great
strongest secondary in the game by far, it two hits mediums, how is that not great
It's better in close quarters though, since it reloads faster, and has a significantly faster projectile speed.
Both the medium spinfuser and the thumper take 1.88 seconds to reload, and I'm pretty sure the spinfuser has a faster projectile speed.
strongest secondary in the game by far, it two hits mediums, how is that not great
I would argue that the ranger does not have a second, rather two slightly less powerful primaries. Each of the weapons has a clear purpose and use, and do not really overlap, the assault rifle is the secondary (or at least by which weapon is used most).
Bella Omega was always meant to be a desert map, not a snowy map, they just didn't have the right textures at the time. IMO it's a good map, the force fields really makes you want to keep the generator up which is nice.
The fact that it's supposed to be a sand map blows my mind (especially because despite the serious overhaul they've applied to the visual style it still looks like a snow map, just a really fucking bizarre one), but what I'm talking about is the removal of the jetpack rechargy things outside. I thought those were a nice touch when they put them in and then they just fucking take them away from me. :(
strongest secondary in the game by far, it two hits mediums, how is that not great
I don't really think you can define guns as primary and secondary. Most classes just have two good guns which have a purpose depending on the situation. Which is worse for the doombringer: the spinfusor or the mortar? You could ask the same for most classes including ranger, raider, inf, pathfinder, doombringer etc. The only class I can think of that has a worse 'secondary' weapon is the scrambler, because the sparrow is shit (maybe sentinel).
The devs themselves say that weapons aren't set up as primary or secondary from a design standpoint. All weapons are balanced around being able to be used effectively.
ugh, looks fun. no beta key though weh, is the skiing more streamlined or?
The devs themselves say that weapons aren't set up as primary or secondary from a design standpoint. All weapons are balanced around being able to be used effectively.
A friend of mine went round and used nothing but the pistol while he was using Soldier. :v:
Yay someone bumped the thread so I didn't have to double post. Bought Pathfinder, pretty fun class but damn hard to use in combat. Any AOE near-misses just instagibs me. That said it's an ace chaser class and I've gotten more than a few clutch nitrons off. Thinking I'll get Technician next, I want a defensive class.
ugh, looks fun. no beta key though weh, is the skiing more streamlined or?
It's easier to do but you can't get the insane speeds you got in Tribes 2. They want to keep it newb-friendly by evening the difference between a new player and an expert Tribes veteran. Which is fair, they are trying to make a F2P game so they need people to keep playing.
I made a little video form some T:A clips. I'm not that good of a player. I haven't played the original Tribes games,so this is like a fresh start of the slow hitscan FPS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYT8cTfoqBg&context=C32bc5b8ADOEgsToPDskJKoKoQaT2Maz_ljrkALJRN

Decided to try this out a few hours ago, not even sure how long I was playing. Best F2P game ever or best F2P game ever?
Decided to try this out a few hours ago, not even sure how long I was playing. Best F2P game ever or best F2P game ever?
It's the only F2P game that I've liked for more than 2 hours.

Flat 50% inheritance is much better, I'm even starting to get midairs now  So satisfying.
It's the only F2P game that I've liked for more than 2 hours.
Agreed!
I am totally and completely addicted to this damn game. Buying the $30 pre-order tomorrow if no good Steam sales up.
I guess there isn't much you can ask from a free game, but holy fuck does this game have a lot of elitist pricks playing it. The community for this game is terrible.
That's what happens when you have a group of vets that have been around for 10+ years in a highly competitive scene. Just do what I do: Glean the useful knowledge from their rants and tirades and put it to work while ignoring their attitude.
Anyone not grabbing a flag at a speed faster than the speed of sound is called a "llama" and instantly ridiculed despite the fact they capped the bloody thing.
This is a legitimate complaint. If you aren't capping the thing fast, don't bother capping it at all. There's dedicated flag cappers who are racing over there at blinding speeds just to grab the flag and some guy who slowly jetpacked in to grab it and fruitlessly attempt to build speed isn't helping. But all that other complains rustle my jimmies.
- Anyone not grabbing a flag at a speed faster than the speed of sound is called a "llama" and instantly ridiculed despite the fact they capped the bloody thing. - 2 or so guys on each team declaring that they are the only ones worthy of grabbing the flag, anyone else that tries is a "faggot".
This has been standard operating procedure since Tribes and the one bit of useful information I've learned about this game. Dedicated cappers can get a shitload of speed and grab the flag while you keep their team distracted or play defense. That said, grabbing the flag when they are about to cap is completely warranted. Overall if you plan on capping, just make sure you are moving fast. If someone says that it was "their" cap while you are speeding around above 150+ then disregard their tears and keep trucking. Everything else is dumb though. Today someone complained about me playing Ranger, while he was a Ranger himself. I brought that up and he said he was just trying the "noob class".
Where the hell does "llama grabbing" come from anyway, I remember it from the older tribes games but no idea how it actually started :V
Anyone really starting to hate Drydock? That huge hill right outside the base causes constant 15 second caps.
This is a legitimate complaint.
Where the hell does "llama grabbing" come from anyway, I remember it from the older tribes games but no idea how it actually started :V
I played Starsiege for years and never heard the term llama capping until I started playing Ascend. I guess good game design doesn't age. Drydock is okay but the base is non-existant and capping is ridiculously easy. Bella Omega has good terrain but fuck awful bases, the gen is useful for a change so that's cool but the map is just awfully boring. Crossfire is give or take. The base feels like Bella Omega but with more avenues of attack. Katabatic > Drydock > Crossfire > Dying of cancer >>> Bella Omega imo
Katabatic is the best map.
I really enjoy this game but it takes ages to unlock new classes without buying gold or VIP, I guess that's what you get for Free-To-Play...
This is just from todays 2-hour play session consisting of 3 servers: - 4 or so guys on each team calling their own team "noobs" and insisting they are better than them all. - 2 or so guys on each team declaring that they are the only ones worthy of grabbing the flag, anyone else that tries is a "faggot". - Anyone not grabbing a flag at a speed faster than the speed of sound is called a "llama" and instantly ridiculed despite the fact they capped the bloody thing. - "X class is for "noobs", I only play class Y because I'm skillfull". - I get yelled at for using splash-damage to kill someone. I get called a "noob" for not attempting a direct hit. - The Constant. Fucking. Arguing. - "X weapon is for noobs, thus I use weapon Y" or "Y weapon is for noobs, thus I use weapon X" - Anyone voicing their opinion on a map or weapon results in "You're a noob, you just suck. I can use that weapon fine." And this is all that I can remember off the top of my head.
Boy, I just got invited to the beta and I can already tell I'm gonna get yelled at. I've never played Tribes before but I've always wanted to, so I was pretty happy that I got invited to the beta. I guess I'll dink around in the training until I'm used to how the game plays before I actually try playing it against people.
