I'm still experimenting with it, but I've always liked the idea of having the most important information right at the crosshair. I might turn down the HUD opacity to something lower, or space things out a bit more, for instance.

Sneak's at the crosshair, and compass is up top because I'm so used to Skyrim that's where I look for those things.

I imagine that it all falls down to personal taste.
For me, the information where it is by default is perfect.
Having all of it near the crosshair not only impairs the vision of what is to the immediate left and right of where you are aiming, but also makes the character feel like a terminator

Probably is a taste thing.

Put in the corners like they are, I find that half the time I don't even see them, so I'll be running around with 25% health and dying to a random raider fifty times until I finally realize what the fuck is going on.

A health meter near the center (since it's set to not go away if I'm at 30% health or lower) is a pretty good indication that the battle I was just in fucked me up something fierce.

also I can see my immediate left/right fine but that could be a combo of not 100% HUD opacity and/or me just having unusually good vision.

My 20-hour Anno 2070 city, which is a bitch to maintain.

I started out in the top left and moved my way inward, creating production facilities where needed on the sides. I had managed to get as far as to be able to have Executives in my city, and they're incredibly needy.
