I see what you mean by that. I can imagine it being hard for new players to settle without joining an already established nation as those borders stretch all around spawn. even though, I find the idea interesting as it makes it easier to make communities on the server, like towns and cities.
As a result of growing tensions between the nations of Nemmelia and The Rugermian Empire, war has recently broke out. Megacitation, siding with Nemmelia in the fighting, has helped Nemmellia win a decisive victory.

Maybe we should all work to set aside some claimed land so there is more neutral territory in the area.
Haven't gotten on yet, but can we just establish a rogue faction and be barbarians and kill everyone?

yeah, I think people should cut back on their border so it leaves space for people who just want to build without joining anything. right now most borders are tight together leaving little to no space in the currently explored area

I'll talk to Connor about it to see what we can cut. Alternatively, a second continent could be explored and spawn moved to there.
just noticed anon's territory and that should really be decreased. not so sure about erimor, but the border stretches a decent amount. no clue what you guys are up to there, but if possible, would be sweet if you could make it a little smaller!
numba and AHappyElite's territory is also veeery big considering what they got in place by now.
Vokzal seems to be fair enough with their size, but not sure if all that space could be utilized?

I don't know how much we can cut. Here is a map of current settlements, planned settlements, and roads. Green is current settlements, Yellow is planned settlements, Red is roads, and Blue is planned roads. Since I'm obviously biased, I'll allow you guys to give suggestions as to what should be cut. Compare it to the map on page 13 and you'll see we're using a good size of our borders, and that's without having given plots of land to our newest members. I do agree that we need to cut something as well to be fair to the other nations.

I don't think we need to cut anything considering erimor's size is due to the fact that we have so many guys claiming residence. there's at LEAST 3 partitions

I claimed my territories before I had pretty much built anything at all, and even now I've only used about 30 % of it, so yeah, I get what you're saying. Factions don't really give new players other options than to join an existing faction. I think this is particularly a problem with some of the largest nations that are some 2000-3000 blocks wide (Arstotzka I think is the largest and is only controlled by a single person, as far as I know). Most of that area will probably never be used, so yeah, I think some of the larger, undeveloped nations could probably be reduced in size.
Though I think it's fine as long as you have some people to actually build, but it seems really pointless and unfair to claim land you're never even going to be able to use.
That said, I'm not against factions. I think they add an interesting layer to the game and gives building another purpose beyond mere survival, but I think some nations need to moderate their use of land and instead expand as they need to.

but this isnt a factions server. erimor was the first to really claim a sense of nationhood and i think i speak for all of us when i say we did that for the sake of coolness and also protecting our builds. we did it for the sake of building, not competition, and the reason OTHER people start up nations WITHOUT building is for the sake of some sense of competition

I kinda wish people wouldn't claim 10 times as much territory as they could ever hope to use, though

Flynn County is establishing a colony in the checkered area. It's unclaimed and we've had a resident living there for some time now.
for antivirus, Flynn County is not going to be the permanent name. Government type is agrarian democracy, coords of political center is -124, -127,

Erimor decided its borders based on our planned projects. We plan on using every bit of our land. There are also several of us, and it allows us adequate personal space as well.
