maybe its just when i am online but there hardly seems to be more than 3 people..4 at the most online much anyway
perhaps a reset would convince more to join as everyone's more or less the same level.
course i'm not basing that on anything lol it might not do jack shit

Depending on how large the sections are it might be a good idea to build smaller ones within the section.
The laylout is going to be hard. It just occured to me that I don't know your IGN so tell me and next time we're both on we can find a site, and put some building materials there.
We could call it Knolla[/QUOTE]
there's plenty of room, and a reset could backfire pretty badly. I'm sure a few people would stop playing completely if they lost all their work.
personally, I don't think a reset is the way to go to make the server more attractive.
Compromise:
We have a multiworld plugin. Why not back up the world, make it a separate world for those who want it (WITHOUT having to pay to go there and stuff??) and have a reset for those who want it?
I myself would probably be more interested if there was a reset, and if we did it that way to where the old map was simply on a separate world with the plugin, no one would really lose anything.
What's the need to reset? There is miles and miles of unused space just in the explored regions. If it's far away then that just adds an extra project for you to build a decent transportation system like the one between me, Jodern and Anon (Presuming you even want to be connected).
If you're bored because you don't like what you've built/don't know what to add then leave for a new area of the map, you'll start over with a blank slate just like you would with a reset.

I've been thinking of a similar thing actually. a new world, but with less PvP constraints. I love PvP and think that PvE and building gets incredibly stale at one point.
[editline]11th March 2014[/editline]
new multiverse world, along the current one of course.

No, it's impossible. No one wants to walk for thousands of blocks, and building a railway would suck up basically all of the iron on the fucking map.
And no one is on anymore so no one would even use a railway
[editline]11th March 2014[/editline]
Having two worlds won't work, everyone will jist be on one map
I kinda feel like another world would just spread people too thin.
If it came to that I'd rather have it replace the current world.
[editline]11th March 2014[/editline]
I wouldn't like to lose the current world either though; I've probably invested nearly 50 hours into it

you have a point there, so what I think is that we should instead shift our focus off of a world reset and come with other suggestions for what to do.

At the same regard, people spreading thousands of blocks away also would be spreading people too thin.

It's impossible? With that attitude nothing amazing would ever get built. You don't necessarily need to use rail either there are other options such as nether travel or horses.
To this "no one is on" business I see a fair number of different people playing throughout the day, not as many as we've had previously sure. Most of those people who've left said they needed to take a break from Minecraft anyway. My point being a world reset wouldn't bring them back, if anything it might put them off ever returning if they know they would have to start all over again.
Having seen you personally give up on a number of projects after barely starting them I don't think I would want to begin a city with you and I doubt I'm the only one who wouldn't want to partner up with someone who falls at the first hurdle. Maybe if you took the time to actually complete something you were proud of you might have a different opinion on resetting everyone else's hard work.

You have a point there
Though people are already building thousands of blocks apart
[editline]11th March 2014[/editline]
Maybe that's the problem right there
Ooh, I know! Centralized portal network powered by magic. 100% uptime between houses, etc.
I'm hugely against a reset - there are plenty of possibilities left in this world, lots of free space.
It isn't even hard getting out a fair distance, a rail in the Nether is easy setting up. With less than three stacks of iron and 30 gold, you can get a rail 500 blocks out in the Nether, equating to 4000 overworld blocks. Far to resource intensive, eh?
I would stop playing at once if the world reset, I spent a fair amount of time building awesome things and exploring. Just my 2 cents.

I don't just get bored of things, I stopped BTI because it was too much fucking work for one person and no one wanted to help me. I'm not going to start a city if I have to do it by myself.
If someone was working with me on it, I'd be dieing to work on it, but no one is.
I wouldn't just start something huge and leave someone else with it, even if it was shit I'd still finish it.
You said you don't even like working with people so I don't even see where this comes from.

you shouldn't rely on others to complete your projects. it's perfectly possible to build anything of any size entirely on your own, it's just gonna take a longer time. the wall we have in Stontskovia is for example built entirely by mrmr.
in the end, a reset won't happen any time soon unless absolutely everyone was for it, but that's not the case.

It would take a year o finish it by myself. Not even kidding.

It comes from me being at risk of losing close to two months of work. I have nothing against people working together but there's no need to pointlessly throw away everyone's time by resetting the server when you could easily do what you're talking about in the world we already have.

While I agree with you, I think you're being a little hard on him. He's not the only one who would like a reset, and he's not even the one who brought up the discussion in the first place. He's just suggesting one thing that could be done a little easier on a new map than what we currently have (which is a lot harder, in general terms, because everyone has become fairly spread out, and a lot of the areas around spawn have been populated or even abandoned.)
I don't think a reset is necessary, even if 1.8 comes out because the new worldgen items are very few that it would be a hassle to reset the world just for some new types of minerals most people most likely wouldn't use.
If we want people to work together, I propose we start a project at predetermined coordinates, I would gladly vouch that we all pitch in to work on a massive building at somewhere like 0, 0. It would give people who have everything something to do and could double as a central point for a transit system, trade bank, or what have you as well.
Maybe we could even start to build a nether city, as the only structures in the nether are railways and the occasional pathway.
Maybe we should take a poll? :v:

I really want to do the district city thing. If enough people go and do it, the rest will follow. It's an idea I've had for a long time and I really don't want to fail.
nether city is a good idea too
I think we should ditch the entire nations thing to be honest. if we put the nations into consideration when we speak of "space to build" then yeah, there's absolutely no space left to build.
what I think we need to fresh up the server is a new project. I was thinking of building something near spawn, and I already feel more tempted to play to execute my idea. a reset would be too far imo.
Where (and what) would we build though? There isn't a whole lot of space near spawn that isn't built on already. Maybe one of the forests could work?

a little spawn town would be a cool thing to make. could disable the spawn protection then re-apply when done
and yeah, it'd need to be the forest area in that case.

Yeah, sounds fun. I'll muster all possible materials whenever I'm needed.

I built my plantation pretty much on my own
[img]http://puu.sh/7rH04.jpg[/img]
it took a while, but I did it. if you don't have much time to play each day, it'll take longer, sure, but it's still doable. the server's not going anywhere
with enough time anything is doable, if you have the motivation and patience to see it to the end
I also really like the Nether City idea. I honestly have never seriously built in the Nether, and I think it would be an awesome idea. It'd also be far easier for people to get to and from it, especially if you're like me and already thousands of blocks away from the overworld spawn.
I've been thinking on it some, I'm ok with the idea, as long as I am able to get a file with my islands chunks on it. I just don't want to lose all of crystal and I's hard work.
