I didn't think I'd ever find a biome that made sunrises look prettier than extreme hills.
Well, the city idea I had was supposed to be at doawn, to congregate evrtyone while still letting people build a base the way that they want to
Just fucking lost everything ...enchanted armour ..shitton of ores a few diamonds and a goddamn diamond sword! fuck hidden drops into high walled lava pits! I'm starting to remember why i haven't played this in almost a year
What have I done ;-; My only real complaint and reason i stopped playing so much is because the amount of people on at once lessened, I find when im making a big project I need people to at least chat with to keep my mind sane lol Only reason i mentioned a reset is because i heard it mentioned somewhere before, maybe on here
Whenever a significant chunk of a playerbase drops off, most people just say that they'd play if more people played. We solved it for a while on Profan's with a map reset.
We just need to find new players somehow, advertise or such maybe
i'd like to report the theft of a mule I don't have any slimeballs so i had no leads so i left him in my pigpen for safekeeping ^^the scene of the crime he has no name & i'm pretty sure his chest was empty but i used him for fast travel n such so i'd like to get him back srg if you took him somewhere that's fine just lemme know [editline]11th March 2014[/editline] a few panes of glass are also mysteriously missing from my rear window, could an admin check it out? Here's the idea for DistriCity (District City): There are sections or DISTRICTS, that certain people build and run that have a different building style. This way, people can build the way they want to. If you want to lead a city, you can lead a district. Almost the same thing, except not quite as big. It's not all of the nations close together, the closer thing is a bunch of neighborhoods close together. I think this would be the best idea to get everyone together to work on cool shit. We could trade resources from district to district to help each other out. Now the hub in the middle would be city hall, where trading and town storage is done. I was thinking each district could be the size of Magic's plantation, plenty of room for houses, but not really a city in itself (too small). Every district should have doors going in to it from the wall, and each district should be walled in. Make the walls look nice, and not like a cube. Basically, I think that should be the one "city" that everybody lives in, but I want to do distrcts because people like to build different ways and I don't want to deprive them all of that. I think that this is the best way, and for easy expandability I think we should make the districts kind of far away from the hub, (maybe 100 blocks or so?) just to not make it feel like a cluster fuck. Of course, a lot of numbers and rules can change if you guys want them to, but all around I think this would be a great idea. It doesn't even need to be near spawn if we can get enough Rails together, or Pred can set the spawn there if it gets big. So, would you guys live there? I want enough people to want to start building or living there before I get my hopes up. Also the thing isn't going to be like fort knox, there should be easy access to... the outside.

Although I'd like to make some modifications: - Seperate districts shouldn't be walled off, let's just make a wall around the city and that's it. - The central region (or in your words, the hub) should contain the city hall and some "cultural buildings" like a massive church or something like that. It should be pretty nearby the other districts, like right next to them. - Let's increase the size of the regions a bit. We're going to need farms, and people will want to build fancy houses. I guess. Alright, so here's how it should work (I think) We should build the city hall in the central district (obvious) with cabinets/spaces for mayors of each district. Also, we should build mini offices in each district to mark an administration or something.
Anon has found a great spot for the city to be built, he's working on a map now. I think it would be better to drop the idea of walling off each district. It would look better if it was one open city with a wall around the outside. Even though each district will be ran by individual players I think the project as a whole needs a leader. Who's first decision should be deciding who gets the job of building the hub.

Since the central district (by my plan) is going to be massive with beautiful buildings, that's where most of our effort will probably go.

I guess I'll be the project leader, this is sort of my idea, but I don't really want to build the whole thing all by myself, and I don't want to be a dictator. I do want a more open feel, maybe we could do more non intrusive stuff and just make the "walls" cobble walls? I wanted to make them far away for easy expandability. I either want the districts to be far away from each other (railways from City Hall) or walled off. The whole reason that districts exist in the first place is because building styles that are all completely different from each other mushed together looks bad.

Plus, we're just going to take up a shitload of space.
A normal city doesn't have districts 100-200 meters away from each other. Plus, we're just going to take up a shitload of space.
This isn't a normal city. There isn't a town or city that exists in the real world like this. So I guess it's going to be large walls, then? It's either one or the other. I kind of wanted each district to be it's own little world, and being able to see another one with a completely different building style ruins the illusion.

Not necessarily dictate the entire city plan. In real cities the building styles vary from street to street and it looks fine. Just ensure each district is along the outer border of the city and they can always expand outwards. Maybe build it like a giant pizza... If you want people to work together they need to actually be together and not walled off away from each other.

I was actually thinking of making the hub a large shape, and then each district would be the same shape. I like the pizza idea, though, maybe a small circle in the middle that's the hub and then an outer circle which is divided up equally, and each piece is where a district goes? You would go to each district through the hub, and I also wanted each district to have it's own doors out of the City and to the outside. I don't want to fence people in. Also I can totally pitch in the stuff to start farms, I bet Magic could do a lot, too.
Here's the base map. Centers around the area where I and Rom decided would be a good place to build the city. Don't mind the huge building and farm, that's mine. You can see Magic's plantation in the top of the map, as a reference.
Can you circle it or something, I can't really find it
Are whitelist requests still ok? IGN is CountryLizard
I did some fiddling with Photoshop, the map is cooked. [t]https://www.dropbox.com/s/3j0zpwlz7cnd1lt/Untitled-1.jpg[/t] The striped borders mean that there is a neighboring country with the exact same owners. It can be seen in Magic's district and Stontskovia's (which isn't marked in the legend, somehow; it's the golden-mustard colored country in the southeast)
