just to update you guys regarding the crashing and downtime etc.
I've done some detective work and I've found out that the java process is killed because the VPS runs out of memory. I've also installed a HW monitor to check how the memory is holding up, and I see that we're nowhere close to reaching the VPS limit. so the issue must lie at my VPS provider. I've sent a ticket in to them with logs and stuff, so hopefully they'll shed some light on why this is happening. I suspect that they're overselling but can't tell for sure. will most likely get a reply tomorrow!
