I can't even get my Station started before all my guys suffocate, tips?
these pay-for-alpha-access games have become the microbrews of the video game world.

Then build a room to put the matter refinery in and assign some miners to go do their thang.

Matter Refineries are prone to breaking down, even with maintenance, so keeping it outside the hull eliminates the fire risk (No Oxygen), and your technicians still maintain it and your miners still use it. A little emergent strategy that the dev totally loved when he realised people were doing it. He's checking to see if it breaks the game in anyway, but if it doesn't, he intends to keep it.
Here's the list of planned features: http://spacebasedf9.com/devplans Someone mentioned food and growing plants, it's all in there. If this game adds all this stuff, it will be great
They have plans for shields to protect the outside of the base but I would love to see them add forcefield generators to automatically seal a hull breach with a forcefield sort of like in Star Trek.

I don't know, and it's what's keeping me from picking this up.

Jesus Christ, the bugs... THE BUGS! I know it's an Alpha, but would it really be such a monumental and overwhelming task to just fix game-breaking bugs like Bartenders not doing their jobs and just drinking their lives away - or, even more annoying, people who get stuck opening and closing airlocks?

Alpha is for bug fixing. It could very well be that AI not behaving properly is a monumental and overwhelming task to fix.

Glad I found this thread, came across the game a few days ago and it looks really interesting but lacking in content still so I held off buying it, keeping a close eye on it though.
