and the capsule in the mothership, that one was hard to get.
On my very first time in the Mothership level, I spawned with the capsule within view of the entrance door. Thank god I had a rope or I'd never have been able to get up to it!
Is there any way to get the damsel when she appears in a spot like this? [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/576745934878497045/C7312ABCD10298D741D05E695742A2C33E0D7E73/[/t] Just some careful mattock use, I guess?

I had murdered every shopkeep up until that point, and when I entered the level I found this shopkeep bouncing a naked dead guy around this room.

For some weird reason hired help are on your side while shopkeepers are mad, although the shopkeepers don't aim for them, they tend to get hit regardless. The hired help won't attack you more than usual.
So after unlocking the shortcut to the temple last time I played, I decided to give it a whirl. I've had enough practice I should be fi- [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/fOnzT1I.jpg[/thumb] OH COME ON Edit: Got killed by a thwomp trap, tried again and [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/NFlPzZu.png[/thumb] I think that's enough Spelunky for me tonight. I threw a bomb accidentally into the deep water in the "Rushing water" stage, and got an alert that I'd unlocked the helmeted viking spelunker. Cue hundreds of spurts of blood coming up from the bottom of the screen moments later.
There's a lot of Spelunky avatars now :v: By the way, seeing as people modded the original Spelunky quite a bit, you guys think we'll see something similar for Spelunky HD? Online multiplayer, please.
If the developer isn't pressured into adding it (if they aren't already), then it will most certainly be attempted by the modding community seeing as multiplayer in this game would literally be the best thing for longevity and massive amounts of fun.
It seems like the devs do have intentions to release updates, but the extent of them is still to be seen. For example, one of the devs (I don't think it was Derek) said on the steam user forums for the game that he would be adding a quick start so you could start a run as soon as you launch the game.
I know about the eggplant but the fuck
Does anyone else really fucking hate the climbing gloves because of the auto-grab to walls? I really wish they made that an option like how there is a dedicated button in the original.
If modding worked better, it would be fun to make each character have different stats in single player.
There are so little stats to work around in Spelunky that balancing a whole 20 characters won't happen.
Spelunker guy: 6 ropes, 2 bombs, 3 hp Red character: 99 bombs, 1 hp, paste
There are so little stats to work around in Spelunky that balancing a whole 20 characters won't happen.
I was thinking stuff like: the robot takes only 1 damage from anything, including spikes and arrows, but doesn't get health from damsels. Meat boy has one health but runs fast and wall jumps. Van Helsing always gets "the dead are restless", Blue starts with a machete, the Eskimo gets spike shoes, yellow gets the mattock, etc. If you think outside the box, it shouldn't be too hard to think of 20 different sets of stats.
Robot - Jetpack, no bombs or ropes 2hp
Are there any mods that replace the music with that of the old game?
So i reached 100 total deaths and i can say this game is fucking fun. Also is it bad that i cant reach jungle at all
So i reached 100 total deaths and i can say this game is fucking fun. Also is it bad that i cant reach jungle at all
I'm over 200 deaths and I can't even get through the temple reliably.
Most of these are game breaking.
Aside from the robot none of those are worse than the tunnel man in the original. The ones where I didn't specify any downsides obviously would have some.
To me it doesn't matter if modded characters are game-breaking in a singleplayer game. I know there's the online scoreboard to consider, but I think the fact that the game is on PC now, and openly moddable, immediately guarantees that many of the top scores are illegitimate. I wouldn't be surprised if this is already the case.
Of course it's not like it's unheard of to separate leaderboards based on character. Especially ones that are drastically different such as Tunnel Man.
got this a couple of days ago having played the fuck out of the original spelunky dark levels now suck dick and autograb is the worst thing ever conceived other than that fun game [editline]15th August 2013[/editline] i think i am going to have actual nightmares about autograb and tiki traps just why
They really need to fix kali rewards being randomized on the daily challenge.
They really need to fix kali rewards being randomized on the daily challenge.
I kinda agree but im never gonna get a pro score anyway so it doenst really affect me. i cant ghost for shit. despite my avatar
I got the spectacles from sacrifice, what if someone else got the Cape for example? HUGE disadvantage. I don't think you can get a jetpack from kali in the HD version but maybe. And I don't know how to submit bug reports either :S
Jetpack is priority for me over cape anyway. only reason i do kali is for the item that heals you when you kill stuff
