This game reminds of the Binding of Issac. Do you guys think it is worth the $13 or 14 dollars it is? Im interested in a funny little game that wont require me to get mega involved in seeing as I dont have that much free time.
It is kind of similar, since each time you play is a fresh start. But the new characters you unlock in Spelunky don't even give you any kind of advantage. So it's really back to square 1 every time.
I mean, there are shortcuts you can unlock, but skipping the earlier levels usually means you miss out on items that could help you a lot in the later levels, so you don't really get an advantage.
Where's the quickstart? I'm tired of the really long opening animations that do absolutely nothing.

It was made by smelting together Mjolnir and some slade.

Had a cool daily challenge run. Found the haunted castle, got to the black market from there, couldn't afford the thing and left, robbed the shopkeeper in the next one, got to olmec with a shotgun, died.
Was actually my first successful run to 4-4 from the start.

I can't see it on my game though. Do you have to do something to unlock it?

Make sure you up to date, for one. The only requirement is that you have beaten the tutorial.

Like Isaac the levels, monsters, and items are all generated randomly so every play is a different experience. However unlike Isaac there is barely any reward for progression and you'll never unlock any items or characters that will make your new run a different experience.
In one way this is good because you won't ever have to worry that you're worse off from the start because you haven't unlocked something important, on the other hand it can make the game very frustrating because making tons of progress with no reward can make it feel like all your efforts were for nothing.

Unlocking shortcuts is a reward for progression

That's why I said "barely" :v:
Aside from that there's also character skins and journal entries... but neither of these two have any impact on the gameplay and are sparse, and once you realize that the shortcuts aren't really worth starting out with no items they become kind of moot.
i nearly shat myself when suddenly a ghost started chasing me
i did some research so i know why that happened afterwards, but still :v:
It's no wonder they need saving when they can get themselves into that kind of situation.

The ghost is the easiest enemy of Spelunky tho, I have more problems dealing with Snakes than it.
Fuck me sideways I had a good run there, I started from the ice caves, got into the worm, got the crysknife, and when I got to the temple there was a shop with climbing gloves, so I butchered the shopkeep and took the items, Anubis floated up and I bombed a whole in the floor of the shop, bumped into Anubis and took the chance with my invincibility frames to slash him to pieces too, took the scepter and got to the next floor, was going pretty well til I reached the door, a shopkeep was waiting for me, so I roped down and sniped him with the scepter, thinking it was safe I jumped down and bumped into his corpse still being bounced around by the ring, killing me.
Fucking scepters.

Every time I got the scepter and I ended up dying shortly after
Finally beat Olmec though after 300 deaths, would probably be a lot lower if I didn't suicide if I make the slightest mistake near the start :v:

Maybe not snakes in general but pot snakes are terrible.

The reward for playing is a better understanding of the game and its systems. If you keep your eyes open, you'll learn something new every time you play. I've never understood the obsession with tangible rewards that people demand from games that don't really need them.

Pot snakes are easy, because snakes in general are easy. You gotta watch out for the pot spiders or the dreaded pot cobra. Thank fuck there aren't any pot bats.

Pot spiders are easier because their hitbox is smaller so even if I stand so close to the put I don't take damage.
Pot cobras are just snakes with bigger hitbox.
Pot scorpions are bad.
What about pot Olmecs
What about pot Olmecs
He'd get very stuck very fast.
Bought Bother Carl in the black market. Motherfucker knocked me out and almost got me killed as well as almost setting off all of the shopkeepers after I knocked out a tribal and he was going to fight me tooth and nail for the boomerang. I put that son of a bitch down with my shotgun.
Hired help are terrible as fuck.

Really useful if you need a quick sacrifice.

I need my pot Olmec mods please PC community

1/100000 chance of a pot containing Olmec in all levels aside from the temple, city of gold, and hell.
Note to self: using a giant spider as a trampoline is not a good idea when I miss my aim and plummet to my death having bounced too high.

You should try the free original version, it's still pretty great and has 99% of the same mechanics and stuff the steam/console version has

You should always jump and run upwards the exact second you use sceptre no matter the situation just in case.
