i was in the mines before and i heard some music i've never heard of before. i looked in the music folder and found out it's called 'A01_egg'. did i miss something special? it's actually a pretty cool song, reminds me a bit of secret of mana. the whole game's sound track is kinda a hit or miss for me.
I'm pretty sure I know what you're talking about because I remember listening to a completely new Mine track after like 30 episodes from Northernlion's LP. It has to be that
Watching gameplay of the new Spelunky, I can't help but feel the whip was made even more useless than in the original, seeing how quickly it snaps out and retracts.
Need to set my pad up for this, im so rusty and keyboard isnt doing the job for me right now :(
Each world has an "egg" track that plays extremely rarely.
What could have been done is a rougelike feeling called "This seems oddly familiar" or something like that where the floor uses the original game's floor generation rules and plays a remix of the original game's tunes. Or if they feel the original code is obsolete, they could still make it so only elements present in the original game can spawn. Only the original enemy and item set, no hired help can spawn, none of the new setpieces, etc. Fuck, man. I just really like the original tunes; it seems silly to not include them in some form since people will mod it in anyway. Probably my favorite 2 are the original Caves and the original Olmec theme. An official remix of those tunes would be swell.

In other words, since remixes are few and far between, it'll be these:

I think it's an improvement, personally. Also, since they're hard to find, link me to any you see in the thread!
Also I was kinda expecting to see CommanderVideo show up as an unlockable character like Meat Boy is. Especially after Spelunky Guy was featured as a playable character in Bit.Trip Presents...Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien, Mossmouth and Gaijin seem to be on good terms with one another already, I could realistically see him as an unlockable character you find in the alien spaceship due to the "Rhythm Alien" suffix in all of the Japanese translations of the Bit.Trip franchise.
I was torn on the new art and music after looking at the xbox version, but it really gels when you play it. I don't think I'll ever want to go back to the original spelunky.

Spelunky HD's ledge grabbing doesn't feel deliberate like it does in Spelunky classic. I tend to be snagging tiki traps as I'm trying to drop down alongside them, in the original if you wanted to grab a wall you had to hold the direction of the wall. I've actively avoided climbing gloves for the time being until I adjust to the sticky hands. The rest of the platforming feels super tight though. Also I like playing as Tunnel Man, dunno why they didn't section him off to his own mode and leaderboards since he plays so differently.
I have set my damsels to pugs and I am never going back. They're just too cute. :3
pugs best damsel 4ever rather have them lick my face rather than having sluts give me herpes
really :I
I just noticed the female damsel jiggles now. :v: Well, since this thread is staying around the first page again for a little while, I feel like I should ask about this: A few weeks ago, I was trying to make a kind of video tutorial/strategy guide for the original Spelunky, but whenever I recorded the game with Fraps, it would do weird things to the aspect ratio, squishing the game footage into a narrow corner of the video, and having a huge black space filling in the rest. I can crop out the black space easily enough, but does anyone know why the video is made too thin, or how I can correct it? Aside from the obvious shitty option of upscaling it in a video editor, of course
Record in windowed mode? I dunno, really
Weirdly, the same thing happens when it's in windowed mode. Like the exact same amount of black space and everything.

Was so suprised to see this available on steam. I fucking loved the freeware version. £10 easily worth it!
I was right before the Ice caves (the door of 2-4 was on screen) and I was in a hurry because the ghost was behind me and there was a shopkeeper I knocked out but didn't kill (no time) and in my hurry, and habit of playing in the freeware version, I didn't press the enter door button, and instead I pressed up and used my throw button, and killed myself with the rock I was carrying. ;n;
Also I like playing as Tunnel Man, dunno why they didn't section him off to his own mode and leaderboards since he plays so differently.
Wait what, you can play as him? How?
Wait what, you can play as him? How?
Freeware version only. You basically have to 100% the game. Get all the tunnels completed, have one run where you make a minimum amount of money, one run where you meet a minimum number of kills, one run where you beat the game under 10 minutes, and one run where you save at least 8 damsels. I'm not sure if you have to beat the final boss in each of those runs (obviously you do in the <10 minute run) or if you just have to make those high scores.
Made this in a few minutes to demonstrate the usefulness of the shotgun.
How do you even do that?
You play well ? It's definitely possible to beat olmec in 8 minutes if you get an early jetpack and don't care about treasure.
FUCK MONKEYS
I always get tea when they stun me considering it lasts 5 minutes. Also getting royal jelly is easy as fuck with boomerang which is pretty common in jungle anyway. Free hp ftw Bees are actually the only way for me to come to temple. Even 20 hp isn't enough for me to beat the game
My first run I made it up to the temples, and I died on 4-1 :v:
I need to stop sprinting everywhere I'll be doing really well and then just lose all my HP due to a major fuck up
Bollarks. After hours of trying and retarded deaths, I make it out of a the mines and run into the tunnel guy. I had no bombs left :( I got to the jungle, jumped onto a flower because i forgot they eat you and died. Gotta escape the mines again! :@
this game is so much harder than it looks in videos
So conflicted. Want to get this now, but the PS3/Vita version comes out in another month I believe. Debating if I'll just end up getting both versions.
