Metroid Megathread v1 - We don't talk about Other M.

Only one thing, I'd say: you have to time the button presses very carefully during the Space Jump in Super Metroid or else you'll fall down; whereas its control in Metroid Fusion is perfect.
Also, you have much more control over stored Speed Boosts in Metroid Fusion (And they don't drain your health like in Super Metroid)
am I the only one who liked prime: hunters?
I played the singleplayer all the way through twice, it was probably my favorite DS game :v:
Singleplayer was alright, but I loved multiplayer the most. Used to play as Trace, but you'd often end up with everyone else being Trace as well- it would become a waiting game to see who dared move an inch out of cover before getting sniped into oblivion.
So I switched to Sylux and Weavel, and never looked back. Better start looking for my copy of Prime: Hunters now. :v:
The single player in Hunters wasn't that bad but I wish they came up with more boss ideas. I liked the idea of having other hunters to have to deal with. It would be interesting to have that done again in a 2D game like the SA-X in Fusion.
As for the multiplayer, I had a ton of hours spent on that with my brother. It was a lot of fun online until people found out glitches or that they could just quit mid-game if they are loosing.
I loved finding a match against a Weavel player. Since I was Sylux, whenever I found a half-turret I could drain it's life faster than it could kill me.
One thing I don't get is why people hated the stylus control. My brother and I both never had a problem playing over long periods of time. The biggest gripe was just trying to find a match since it took so long. These days it takes even longer for just a 1v1 and even then that person will probably quit mid-game because they are doing poorly.
I always wanted to play as Sylux but I didn't really like the Shock Coil all that much. I switched to Weavel and Trace and it was all good from there. (Even though it took me a month or two to realize that you could zoom in with the Sniper-like weapon. I was getting headshots without zooming in for a long time.)
The Weavel glitches were the most fun. :P
It seems to me like people never knew you could change the controls for the game, since everyone kept complaining about them.
Trying to do a no items run of Fusion.
Serris is a bit of a bitch to beat, but I reckon I can do it.
Serris fucking infuriated me.
If you really want a secret for beating Serris, you could stay on the top of the ladder in the rightside, run there as soon as you trigger his fight, then just get your charge beam ready for when he comes at you or in a direction you can reach. It's ridiculous how good the charge beam is in Fusion, the only time I stopped using it when the missile upgrade made it so every missile does a charge shot worth of damage.
Super Metroid was my childhood.

I've sunk unbelievable amounts of hours into that game.

Doing the ladder thing, but one of the attacks can just barely clip you, so I do the spin jump charge thing to hit him if he does that, but then the core-X normally finishes me off.
Ugh the core is always the worst part. I tend to take the most damage just from that. Think you could shoot it from time to time with the beam to get more X to come out to heal you?
Fuck the spider boss, seriously.
The second form doesn't have a pattern and is nigh-impossible to dodge.
That, and the first form can stun-lock you.

It's literally the only boss that gives me any trouble on a normal run, on a no items run, it's borderline impossible.
I hate Nightmare from Fusion.
That's about it.

A new Hunters on the 3ds would be great.
It'd look as good as Prime, has the storage to be as big as them, and with the Circle Pad Pro you could have whatever control scheme you want.
My favorite game series by far.
What i'd really like to see being done next in the series is a sort of pseudo-rpg in which you play samus' life as a bounty hunter, rather than just being on a set mission like in every other game. It's just weird how we always see her being referred to as the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy yet apart from Hunters, we've not actually seen her follow any bounties.
I'm just worried that the extreme piece of shit that was Metroid : Other M hasn't put Nintendo off from making any other metroid games.

You think yakuza is hard? Right. I think you should have a dinner date with the boost guardian from Metroid Prime 2. I'm sure you'll get on just fine.
never played the prime games, really should get round to it at some point.

They really are great. They're not too disimilar to the sidescrolling games, but are still great and entertaining. The environments are still stunning to this day, despite now being almost a decade old. I need to record a playthrough of it when it turns 10..

How about rolling into morphball and going to the corners when he starts flipping the fuck out? That's how I tend to avoid him for a while. Generally I notice if he's too close to a corner to go that way but morphball is generally okay to avoid him, as far as I can tell.

Always worked for me.
I beat him yesterday, the real problem was the second part, because he can hit the corners fairly often.
If you guys are having a hard time with spiderbot then I pity you against Ridley, damn near impossible to dodge
I'm considering getting Metroid Prime Trilogy eventually. Does it come with anything besides all 3 games and a steelbook?

From what I've seen, its the original three with motion control for all three, plus the unlock system of the third applied to the first two. Comes with all three games, the second's multiplayer, the steelbook thing, and... dats it.
good luck getting it though, you're going to have to shell a minimum of $100USD for it.
i don't particularly care about price, it's a collector's item.
Got through the SA-X chase and Nettori without any major problems, bar a death from poorly timed jumps against the SA-X.
Should be plain sailing until the SA-X boss fight.

According to Wikipedia Prime 1 and 2 have shorter load times, widescreen support, better textures, bloom, and some altered effects.
Some of the bosses in Prime 2 had their difficulty was lowered.
Prime 2's multiplayer is found in the main menu and I think may have everything unlocked from the start but I'm not too sure.
You also get an art booklet that also has a rough telling of what happened from Metroid 1 to Prime 3 on the back

This is one of the series that I'm happy there aren't that many iterations of. Don't get me wrong, I loved playing each and every single one of them, but because they are so few and far between, it makes them something even more special.
Also, I want to share this remix, simply amazing.

I still have it, even to this day.
My wii is softmodded, and when I try to play Prime, my wii just soft resets. Any ideas?
