My wii is softmodded, and when I try to play Prime, my wii just soft resets. Any ideas?
Stop being such a softy.
I feel like I'm the only one who didn't find Fusion's bosses aggravating. Were they hard? Hell yeah they were. That's what made them so rewarding to me. I never found myself shouting "bullshit" in response to dying. It always felt like it was my fault and I knew how to improve on my strategy next time. I never felt like the controls screwed me over because holy hot damn they're smooth as fuck.
i have 145 missiles right now
should i bother getting more before fighting prime, or will i be alright
I nailed him before getting all of the upgrades, so you should be okay.
However, getting ALL of the upgrades [sp]expands the ending for your enjoyment.[/sp]
When this music kicked in at the final boss... such wondrous memories...

Recently found my Prime 1 and 2. No longer have a GameCube, though. Never got to play Corruption, because I never bought a Wii.

Oh fuck yes, it's about time we get one for Metroid.
Ugh the core is always the worst part. I tend to take the most damage just from that. Think you could shoot it from time to time with the beam to get more X to come out to heal you?
The Mutated core is even worse.
From what I've seen, its the original three with motion control for all three, plus the unlock system of the third applied to the first two. Comes with all three games, the second's multiplayer, the steelbook thing, and... dats it.
good luck getting it though, you're going to have to shell a minimum of $100USD for it.
man im pissed those things go for about 100 or so buck now because i remember seeing it for 20 bucks used at gamestop all the time and had no idea it was a collectors item
I should have gotten it before it was discontinued but my brother and I found it for $70 used at a Gamestop so I really can't complain all that much.
Just got the SA-X and omega metroid left, only the SA-X is gonna be hard.
It's just avoiding the ice shots, because they barely show up against the background.
The easiest tactic I find for getting the SA-X down to [sp]only shoot most of the time is really silly: don't screw attack yourself. It seems to mimic your attack pattern somewhat, at least up to those two parts. Basically if you just jump and shoot, it tends to roll forward to reposition then take aim with the beam after being hit. Just jump over it without using the flip jump and it's basically dumb enough to not fight back very much.[/sp]
The Second form [sp]kinda falls apart if while changing you just go back up the where the highest door is and charge you beam, it can't hit you if you jump (or for that note I'm not sure it can really hit you at all there) then jump and aim down as he tries to jump at you. You may not see it take the hit, but you'll hear it.[/sp]
As for the third form [sp]if you wanna take dicking around to a whole new level just trick the Core-X form to stay in the first floor area that's somewhat closed off while you shoot it with missiles when its eye opens.[/sp]
Spoiler'd for people who don't want help. I think I know too much about this game, but I guess it's fair since it was the first GBA game I ever got :v"

I just thought it would be a standard normal Wii game so I got it day one, was shocked to see production stopped not that long after it.. best £30 ever.

[sp]What I did was charge, fire, and immediately jump over it. Jumping the instant you fire puts you in the air while it recovers from being stunned by your shot.
As you're in the air, be charging another shot. If you do this right, you can land on the ground and turn at it as soon as you're charged, and then fire, jump, and repeat.
Second form is kinda crap cause you can stand about one you length in front of it before it jumps, BE SURE TO BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM, and it'll land on the other side of you without hitting you. Then, aim up at it and just kill it.
third form is just a beam-core x, go crazy.[/sp]
Happy 10th birthday in europe Metroid Prime!
Still disappointed that Ninty didn't do something with the 10th anniversary of Prime coinciding with the release of the Wii U. A HD remake would have been nice.
Happy 10th birthday in europe Metroid Prime!
...wow.
Time flies.
:sigh:
Let me start off by saying that i've never played a metroid game before. Actually wait, i guess that's a lie because I have the metroid prime: hunters multiplayer demo for DS. I suppose I should say i've never played singleplayer metroid. Back when the gamecube was still fresh, i rmemeber hearing about how radical this game called metroid: prime was from my best friend, but never got around to playing it.
After seeing this thread, I decided to see if my friend had zero mission (because it's the first chronologically), and if he'd let me borrow it. So now i'm playing through zero mission for the first time.
At first the controls seemed very clunky. Most of it was the crouching mechanic. I'm far more used to holding the d-pad down in order to stay crouched, so having it as a "shift down" threw me off. Not to mention if you try and turn while crouched and hold the d-pad down just a tiny bit longer than normal, you'd stand up and start moving regardless of if you still have "dpad down" still held. Honestly, it makes more sense to me to have the useless L button be "morph ball" while held down instead of duplicating the functionality of "diagonal shoot". Although I guess it's probably trying to stay as faithful to the original game, which wouldn't have had an L button.
But i'm more or less accustomed to the controls by now. I recently got both the morph ball, and the bombs for it. Right after getting the bombs for it and leaving the area with the save point, I noticed there was a platform that I couldn't reach with my normal jump height. So I decided to use my bombs to boost myself up there to have a look. It was then that I noticed it was just a large vertical climb with those floaty brown creatures. So I chained bomb explosions to constantly propel myself upwards dodging the creatures. I'm not sure if that's what I was supposed to do at that moment, but I had the ability to so I figured I may as well. Was that what I was supposed to do at that time, or did I just skip a small portion?

yea, pretty sure I wasn't supposed to do that.
So someone's does a a symphonic rendition of the whole Super Metroid soundtrack.
Not a live orchestra I don't think, but pretty cool none the less.

If you have to use bomb jump chains or the wall-jump bug to get somewhere, you're not supposed to be there yet.

if you are were I think you are, you are just outside the area with a very special item which you can come across later in the game. If you are as skilled as you say with bomb jumping, then you should try doing some classic metroid sequence breaking and try to collect the item.
[sp] It's the varia suit, it makes you immune to high temperatures and acid water. It's a pain in the ass to bomb jump this bit to get the suit, but it's entirely possible. If you get this, you can practically skip going to Kraid's lair. It also allows you to sequence break later on and get the wave beam before getting the ice beam. You need some swift reflexes to do this part. Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=MZsXSQsdQyU to watch a video of how it's done[/sp]

yea i already did that. I got every single hidden item possible thanks to bomb jumping. :V
I kept finding items that said weren't compatible with my suit, but worked just fine anyways, haha.
i also killed [sp]the brain[/sp] thing, but never came across power bombs. so i assume that [sp]i'll eventually head back to that place sometime[/sp]?
[editline]25th March 2013[/editline]
wow the person bombjumping in that video didn't do it very well
So, should I get the original releases of Metroid Prime 2 and 3 or get the Wii compilation?
definitely the wii compilation
Could you explain why, please?
Could you explain why, please?
besides the prime trilogy being pretty valuable and a great addition to almost any collection, the wiimote controls work really well for prime 1 and 2
Fair enough, if I can't find it secondhand about (I usually have good luck finding things secondhand) then I'll have a look online.
Some dude on Amazon wants a thousand pounds for the Metroid Prime Trilogy.
go big or go home
Watching two listings for the Metroid Prime Trilogy, one is an auction and cheaper, the other's a buy-it-now. So if I don't win the former, I can get the latter. I just hope no-one snatches up the buy-it-now one before the auction ends. There's only a £15 difference between them... Is it worth the 4 day waiting risk? There's already a bid on the auction.
Also, Other M is to Metroid what Prometheus is to the Alien series.
