How much of Metroid 2 is in this? Is it the whole game yet?
It goes up to area 3 I think. But it's got extra things in the areas so they last longer then in the original from what I've seen.
I couldn't finish Metroid II since the corridors looked the same with the fucking black and white color scheme and it gave me a fucking headache. I'm gonna feel bad making the jump to AM2R, but whatever. I'm more bummed out that that Cryengine2 remake of Metroid Prime got shut down.

Aw I was actually wondering what happened to that recently. :suicide:
I'm reawakening this thread since the fangame am2r (Another Metroid 2 Remake) just had an update, and it's fucking awesome. I hope the next 2D Metroid game that comes out uses some of the features, like the aiming lock.
Holy shit. He's still alive. This just might get finished
A metroid thread? That nobody bothered to tell me existed?! Oh well guess i should've looked past the first page of The games section but anyways... I just finished Metroid Zero Mission and even though i loved it i still love Super Metroid more, the atmosphere feels better than Zero somehow and Zero had some annoying bits in it like near the end when you lose the power suit and the mother brain bossfight Also i'm gonna try and get a gamecube for metroid prime and prime 2:echoes, i don't wanna play them on the Wii with a motion controller and from what i've searched on the interweb that's the only way to play

Unless I misread what you've said and what I've read before.
The Wii version is fine, unless you want to go against what the web says. Unless I misread what you've said and what I've read before.
By "the only way to play" he meant that you can't use any other controller than motion controls on the trilogy versions or Corruption, which is accurate.
The Wii version is fine, unless you want to go against what the web says. Unless I misread what you've said and what I've read before.
From what i've looked up the only way to play the Prime wii collection is with the motion controller and nunchuk, and i really don't wanna use motion controls So i'd rather get a gamecube or wii and the gamecube versions of prime 1 and 2 and use a gamecube controller
Oh, right.
From what i've looked up the only way to play the Prime wii collection is with the motion controller and nunchuk, and i really don't wanna use motion controls So i'd rather get a gamecube or wii and the gamecube versions of prime 1 and 2 and use a gamecube controller
Honestly, the motion controls are the better option. The wii does have a notoriety for being extremely finicky with FPS controls, but Retro somehow made them work with no issue at all. They give the games a certain finesse the gamecube controls can't give, Samus controls like a tank with the cube controls, while the Wiimote controls are actually pretty close to the feel of a mouse and keyboard setup, probably somewhere between that and a lightgun arcade machine.
brought metroid fusion on wii u today i used to love this game i dont understand the stigma most have against it the only problem about it to me is it introduced Adam into the series. it had a real cool atmosphere [sp]paticurally around the start before shit hits the fan and the X parasites comprimise the containment sectors [/sp]
Metroid speedrun marathon in 1 hour and 26 minutes. http://www.twitch.tv/ludendi info: http://goo.gl/81WgjN [editline]12th April 2014[/editline] AM2R is part of it, btw.
samus kills things for a living, haunts the nightmares of evil forces, and has been the culprit of at least one destroyed planet, but if a commanding officer isn't giving proper dues she aint gonna say shit.
Other M should just be considered a bad fangame already.
Metroid Fusion is my 2nd favorite Metroid game
Man, these samus fanatics are so quick to degrade what's good about her beside her looks. Its like they just want a fucking realdoll.
AM2R is fantastic, not sure about the music though. It seems really heavily inspired by the prime series and one peice of music is a blantant ripoff of the Chykka Boss theme from Prime 2. Also not a fan of the general instruments. I hope to god though that AM2R and it's popularity shows off to nintendo that people actually do want another ( not fucking awful ) metroid game and that sticking to it's roots would not deter anyone.
A metroid thread and no one has mentioned Harmony of a Hunter. For shame. For those that don't know about it, its essentially a large collection of remixed songs from the metroid series. All of them are very good, with some being orchestral, some vocal, some techno, and some 8-bit style. There's about 5 discs worth of songs. Also, take a listen to "Te Inveniam". It's an ode to Super Metroid, and it is awesome.
Well, this happened on the speedrunning marathon. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/bCAgdnW.png[/img_thumb] It was his personal best, too.
Bumping the thread because of the best Metroid related news I have heard in a long time, Yoshio Sakamoto doesn't want to return to the series. Beautiful.
Yay! Now Metroid won't get lucas'd (which it kinda already had with other m but at least that's the only thing that happened)
Yay! Now Metroid won't get lucas'd (which it kinda already had with other m but at least that's the only thing that happened)
Eh, retcons aren't unheard of.
now if only we could bring Gunpei Yokoi back from the dead
Eh, retcons aren't unheard of.
Has Nintendo ever backed out of a stupid decision before?
Has Nintendo ever backed out of a stupid decision before?
The Virtual Boy was dropped rather quickly. And remember that heart rate monitor periferal that was planned once?
now we just need retro back on board and all shall be well and dandy
Well it has been hinted at that they're working on something Metroid related, but how soon we'll see it no one knows. Nintendo have been making a fair few hints towards the Metroid series as of late. Though I don't know if this actually an increased interest in the series from Nintendo or just starved Metroid fans (much like myself) striving for any kind of implication that a new game is coming.
Well, it's not like they've completely dropped it so a new game isn't a question of if, but when. [editline]16th April 2014[/editline] I'm just let it be known to the thread that this exists. And this is tame by fanfic standards, that Metroid Highschool thing was at least a parody of fanfiction.
I'm more bummed out that that Cryengine2 remake of Metroid Prime got shut down.
Where did you get that information from? From what i can tell, they just reached a point where initial momentum faces reality. They recognize that this is a far to big project to be handled by a few inexperienced ppl, some don't contribute which lowers motivation for the others, till there's only one or two ppl still working on it. I know what i'm talking about, i went through all of this with a metroid themed mod. If they'd recived a C&D from Nintendo, they would have announced it. The lack of activity and updates on their page speaks for itself i think.
I got a delivery today. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/krtZRrq.jpg[/img_thumb] pew pew.
