Tools section of steam library, once you download the slight 18MB patch, you'll be required to update dota for 5 GB.

although I anticipated this and was going to go with a design that didn't require going under the bridge in the long run.

The Source Engine is capable of creating bridges. Experiment around with it abit more.

It could very easily fuck up they way dota is played not to mention how aoe spells could effect people above or below them, it's just not built for that.
Going to play around with this some more when I get the chance. I'm going to try to come up with an addon for a custom hero using the base game.

This makes me rock hard. If only my shit wouldn't crash upon loading a map.
If nobody has been hearing yet, these tools could very much be an early iteration of the Source 2 engine. There is evidence of it everywhere.

It's pretty much confirmed that this is using Source 2.

If they are, I think you have the section below the bridge go to a different part of the map and return on the other side. (I'm not a mapper, so I hope that's a sensible solution.)
Someone remake SotDRP and LoaP
Someone remake SotDRP and LoaP
Everything will be remade, trust me.
It'll be nice to play some of the good old WC3 maps like WMW, uthers party or loap.

How exactly did the bottom of bridges work in the original WC3? I never played it, but didn't it have the same sort of camera angle as Dota 2?

So two things I've discovered about hammer insta-crashing: It seems to only happen to people with AMD CPUs, and someone found a fix (http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/discussions/-1/35220315648258071/?appid=570#p1) that I'm pretty sure emulates an intel chip but I'm too dumb to understand. Either way it works for me.

Reminds me of how Zoo Tycoon 2's map editor worked. It looks almost exactly like that.
There is a bridge in tutorial_m2 you can go over and under on.
Holy crap have you guts tested the other tilesets? They're sexy as fuck:

I wonder if we'll see a similarly easy editor for Valve's other games, or if this is solely to transition from WC3.
I launched the Dota2.exe in the dota_upc folder since I have an AMD PC and was pretty disappointed with the performance. With the current Dota 2 with everything maxed out on 1080p I get a constant 74 fps at the well. With Source 2 I was getting 14-20 fps, and turning everything off/low I ended up with 60 FPS. I completely understand that it's an alpha, but the engine jump makes me curious to see just how demanding it will be as a final release. DirectX 11 being a requirement (at the moment) is probably a lot for my graphics card to handle, and it maxed out my 4GB of RAM which was odd.
Specs:
Nvidia 460 GTX
AMD Phenom 955 BE
4GB RAM
Mechanical Hard Drive

Alien Swarm did actually have a tile based editor, I wouldn't rule it out, Far less powerful though.

It'd be nice to be able to switch back and forth between them, I definitely wouldn't want to lose being precise.

As someone who has wasted half of his life on warcraft 3, and half of that on WC3's world editor, this makes me extremly happy. A shame I don't meet the reqs. for it.

Bridges and any other kind of plataform made any unit that moved in the area where it was placed to walk on the model as if it was ground, and overrided any pathing under it (which is what allowed them to connect separated cliffs and heights). You couldn't go under them and they had pathing maps that prevented you from cippling through the sides/areas you weren't supposed to move through.

Anyone know how to change the ingame camera angle? I accidentally made my map "face" the wrong way and I want to flip it about 180 degrees.

There was a post on a reddit thread by one of the people who made modd.in, as far as he can tell it's impossible to change the camera angle so far. You'd be better off rotating the map if that's possible.

Fuuuck me. Welp, time to gut this thing.
You can't rotate the map?
