God damn, I think I might reinstall the game now just to see if that mod has really made it any better.
Though, I don't see anything about villagers requiring gather points... that always pissed me off about AoE3.
No, it keeps the AoE3 system of gathering. It improves pretty much every other aspect of the game though. I will give lots of love to someone who can find out how to use it in multiplayer.
Argh, this game can be frustrating sometimes. It feels like every game I play, I get outproduced and outmassed and then rushed to death by pretty much everyone else. Just last game, an Isis completely raped me, even though I thought I did okay with the economy and walling everything up department.
I see players advancing and expanding fast as hell, sending villagers everywhere, but it always seems like I never have enough resources/don't produce fast enough.
AoM heaven is back up fyi.
Also, updated OP with the new steam group- it's public so feel free to join.
So, I recently found this again.
Are you sure old keys can be used for accounts, or that they can't be made at all?
I have a relatively old copy, but can't make an ESO account with it.
Is it odd I've owned this game for so long but almost never tried legitimate 1v1 or even 2v2+ matches? (Plenty of scenario tho)

First off, I don't believe you can make new ESO accounts, not entirely sure how that works but you MAY be able to make one via the actual website. Also I'm not sure how the CD-key situation worked out exactly so if yours is from around 08 or earlier it should be fine.
Also, no it's not odd that you've never tried legit games, in my time I almost exclusively played scenarios online.
I've never actually played this game before, where abouts can I buy/order it?
Nevermind, turns out it's available brand new on Amazon.ca. Sweeeet.
We should try to set up some matches on Gameranger since barely anyone has ESO accounts.
Maybe simple 1v1 or 2v2, or custom scenarios depending on how many we are/the mood.

The steam group would be the easiest way to gather people provided all of those interested join it. Either that or add everyone currently in the OP on gameranger.
I've tried looking for some let's plays to get an idea how this game plays differently compared to Age of Empires. Most videos have very horrible commentators and/or they don't know what the hell they are doing. One even claimed to be a huge fan of the series having played it for years. He couldn't figure out how to manage his resources or control his army...
I ventured into the underworld of my cupboard and freed the disc from its evil prison... I'll play through the campaign this time without typing PANDORAS BOX and WUV WOO

Aight, I joined it.
Just got my games in the mail. Didn't realize I ordered the EU versions but whatever. Installing just fine and I assume there is no difference between it and an American copy.

Yup it works great! Had to install MSXML 4.0, but whatever. it's going to take some getting used to however.

How much did you pay?
How much did you pay?
$21.96 for the games and shipping. It was $6.49 and $5.49 for the games and 4.99 shipping each.
This is one of the games that I need to be on steam.
Oh god, this game. Loved playing settlers.
used to play this game a lot about 10 years ago, yet lost my old cds, if this game hit steam, I will be number one buyer.
hmm, that's a damn excellent OP. We've got Age of Empires, Empire Earth in one thread so it couldn't hurt to assimilate this one into that thread?
Hey, why don't we resurrect this thread while were at it?

Praise Zeus. I don't know how I feel about the artstyle of the characters in that sidebar though...
