Next time, can all teams at least play at least once between a two week period, minimum? Doge Men never had any games to play until a month later, at which point, they disbanded. You have to keep in mind the teams that normally enlist here are amateur and don't play much other matches together, so keeping the team active will prevent the 'inactivity' disband case from occuring, which is why Doge Men fell apart.
Dogemen signed up with the expectant that the tourney would take place in the estimated April, unfortunately that wasn't the case and we did it earlier. So I put them into only April games since they were already playing a tourney according to the team captain. Either-way, they would have disbanded on the same date and not have been able to play. The schedule is always setup so teams play at least once every two-weeks (More teams = more games on a single day) A definitive issue with this is getting people to play. We'll be adding giant flashing warnings everywhere to the signup (Which is why I would rather have it on a separate page to put more information onto it) about disbanding, scheduling and being able to go to most games on the weekend. For people making new teams for next season, make sure that the person you are making a team with is in the or close to the same timezone and is available at most times. ---- On the subject of Season 2 (Yes, absolutely we are having another one,) it's been apparent that some teams are very much better then others and some teams feel like they have no chance, well, fear no more! We now have minor play-offs along with major play-offs. The minor-play-offs are all the teams that didn't make it to the major play-offs and then have a chance to still win a prize! Play-offs all consist of 4 teams. So with that notice, it's very dependent on how many teams signup. To combat disbanding / inactive teams we are going to have a 1-month signup warning. This is basically a new thread and will tell you when sign-ups begin. There will then be a 5-day period to signup. I'm thinking of using Google forms rather then league-apps to do this in order to make sign-ups more informative and easy to prepare teams for what is expected of them. An minor issue we had was with dealing with player/team based problems, some people they were unfair since it was being conducted on one persons opinion, to combat this we will create a committee which consists of a multitude of people who wish to join, [del]the only people not allowed in this committee are players, coaches and captains.[/del] As with all things in Atlantic it's all voluntary. The committee, whenever an issue arises can basically post their opinion on a document (or steam forum, we'll see), then post options, vote on a option then have it take place. Team's can have a representative for the committee. Once again, this is purely here to deal with anything from a team being rude/disruptive constantly or maybe a choice on whether or not to change/create a rule. Any member of the committee can suggest any changes. (I can, but rarely will veto decisions, usually if it's silly/not helpful) This SHOULD hopefully deal with any future issues in the league. The creation of this committee will be tonight and anyone is open to join. Committee are not considered staff, so ejected members and community members can join in anytime without any previous knowledge. Details on how to join later tonight. Next season will also be requiring some more staff to deal with website updating (Schedules, team information.), graphic design or anything you think the league might need help with. Were always looking for help. Be sure to send an email or private message to me if you think you can help. You have no need for previous requirements. Finally, the budget for next-seasons prizes (Dota 2 items only!!!) will be one hundred dollars. (This seasons was a measly $20) This means arcane items and stuff. If it wasn't apparent already, this was a test-season to determine any major problems and find out the interest level. Hopefully the next season will be much larger, see you guys at the semi-finals!
can u make it like actual money via paypal instead of cosmetics or is that too much to ask for :-)
hopefully there will be some more teams around our level next season rather than far below and far above
can u make it like actual money via paypal instead of cosmetics or is that too much to ask for :-)
Think it's better to have cosmetics because we're a pretty small group anyway and fits better with donations or something idk. Hopefully more teams will sign up, I mean it can't hurt to spend like 3 hours with dota a week right?
Semi-finals will be taking place this weekend, Saturday BFV&C Vs. SDAPU1 - 4:00PM EST (9:00 PM BST) (One Team confirmed) Sunday Feed5life Vs. (FM3?*) - 4:00 PM EST (9:00 PM BST) (One team confirmed) Finals will take place the week after. First prize : 60 Items of choosing (first picks) - Second Prize : 30 items of choosing - Third Prize : 15 Items of choosing. See you there! *Not eligible for prizes due to disband, sorry guys! Better luck next season, thanks for staying anyways!
Just a quick question, why is the 1st team vs 3rd team and not the 4th? Shouldn't it mean something claim first place in the groupstage? Such as getting an easier road to the finals?
I think 1st place should choose their opponent personally
can u make it like actual money via paypal instead of cosmetics or is that too much to ask for :-)
Legal stuff, sorry. Keep the league going for awhile and we'll talk ;)
Just a quick question, why is the 1st team vs 3rd team and not the 4th? The team that hasn't lost a match choosing their opponent would just choose the easiest person to go against and they would be certain/very likely to win, you gotta remember that there are very varying skill-levels between teams. Were not working on a conference system here. (I would only use that system if we had an overpowering amount of American/European teams.) If you think it should be different, be sure to check out the committee. I'll actually be removing the "You can't be a team-member" requirement, however they won't be able to vote on things which concern them or their team.

Maybe give out a _small_ reward for the top team? :D

Committee registration is open, if you wish to join and help make decisions for Dota 2 Atlantic, add me on steam and message me about it. Remember there are no previous requirements and it is open to anyone. Any previous committee proposals can be viewed at the "Committee Archive" section of the steam group "Discussions tab"
are the playoffs double elimination or single elimination?

yeah that
all games bo3, finals bo5; any advantage for winners bracket in finals (1-0, ...)?
I really dislike winners bracket advantage personally
but its the way its done professional, i feel that the winners bracket team should have an advantage of some form
but its the way its done professional, i feel that the winners bracket team should have an advantage of some form
Could give them extra captains mode time? Sounds like a job for... the Committee! If your part of it, post a proposal in the forum.
but its the way its done professional, i feel that the winners bracket team should have an advantage of some form
I know it's the way it is done in a lot of pro tournaments, and it has always annoyed me.
im fine with 3 matches tbh makes it more fun. The reason for 1-0 advantage in bo5 grand finals is because in double elimination, the lower bracket finalist has to reset the bracket and then win the set again in order to win the grand final. This is done by sending the winners bracket finalist to the lower bracket (-> W [Winners Bracket] vs. L [Lower Bracket] -> L wins -> W [L] vs L [L] -> "brackets are reset"). Of course this could take more than 10 hours in dota and other games and this is why there's a 1-0 advantage instead of that. It can still be argued that teams that go through lower bracket have to play more matches anyway so.....
I know it's the way it is done in a lot of pro tournaments, and it has always annoyed me.
the international has no winners bracket advantage, not having to play in the loser bracket is already an advantage of its own
If the schedule helps, I would love to join the next season.
but its the way its done professional, i feel that the winners bracket team should have an advantage of some form
no, thats the way its done in starladder only no other big tournament has this
bebbyfaceteam just scared cause this time i wont let braindead people play the doom counters
the international has no winners bracket advantage, not having to play in the loser bracket is already an advantage of its own
yeah rate me dumb for agreeing with you! nice one!
